      John Livingston yes there is a good chance the diaphragm is tore and you need a kit but yes it can be rebuilt very easily.

    Great video with useful tips. One question, why can you usually only rebuild the pump two times?

      Seconded. Why?

    • @Peter-gb6ct
      @Peter-gb6ct 9 місяців тому

      That is not correct, when the diaphragms first fail, they are replaced usually around 3 to 3.5 years. On the second failure, the chamber block kit should also be replaced and so on in sequence. A well-maintained HP blower should last 20 years plus. The air filter should be washed every three months and replaced every two years or less depending on the conditions.

    I rebuilt one of these today. Lasted maybe 4 years 2 months before the alarm went off but I’ve noticed for a long while it wasn’t as loud as it used to be and when I was standing by the aeration chamber of my septic tank I didn’t hear the thumping sound like I used to when it was new and for a couple of years. I hear the thumping again after the rebuild but I swear standing by the aerator it’s no where near as loud as it used to be with the humming sound. Any reason it wouldn’t hum as loud now after I changed out the two diaphragms? I didn’t buy new chamber blocks though. Does not changing out the chamber blocks affect the humming level noise?

    • @wholesalesepticsupply9801
      @wholesalesepticsupply9801  8 місяців тому

      The chambers could be the cause. They are the primary reason fake rebuild kits don’t work is the air flow is disrupted from improper air flow balance. We won’t go into the full reason as to why it does that but the air flow is much less and the aerator will act up in weird ways. If you paid less than 45-55 dollars for the diaphragm then they are fake.

    • @LeuCustomKnives
      @LeuCustomKnives 8 місяців тому

      @@wholesalesepticsupply9801 oh I bought the diaphragms for $60 from you guys 😆. I talked to Ruben before hand. He was very helpful. Then I talked to a lady (can’t remember her name) she told me there was a diaphragm only kit as well so I just bought those. Just didn’t think the chambers were a consumable part.

      You probably got the kit off Amazon and it’s a Chinese knockoff they are the only ones that have that. You pump won’t work properly as the valves are no good in all those it will also probably fail in a couple months

    At 54", you mentioned a "safety screw" is missing. That's exactly what happens on my pump. The power goes to the pump but the pump does not work. If I force the spring to let it touch the little plate next to it, then pump starts running. So why that safety screw is missing, and how to make the pump work? Thanks a lot!

    • @wholesalesepticsupply9801
      @wholesalesepticsupply9801  Рік тому

      Some models had a switch on them we have video on that as well. If it has a pin yes you need it. If not the unit will not shut off when the diaphragm goes and it will damage the unit beyond repair.

  • @karlrschneider
    @karlrschneider 5 років тому +1

    I got a kit for our model 60 in late March 2019, did the repair and it ran fine until last week...then the diaphragms failed. So it lasted about 9 months...this seemed awfully fast to failure...is this typical? (just ordered another kit plus the 'upgrade' that uses a switch instead of the plastic "safety screw"...waiting for it to get here will be a few more days).

    Bonjour .
    Mon compresseur a deux ans, j’ai changé les membranes en caoutchouc ce jour car elles étaient détériorées .
    Or je constate après quelques heure que le surpresseur me paraît chaud. Avez vous ce problème la sur ces modèles ? Je n’ai jamais remarqué cela avant mais je ne me souviens plus si il chauffait ou pas . De plus je trouve l’air qui sort extrêmement chaud aussi .
    Je vous remercie par avance

    I rebuilt mine 2 years ago, now the pump isn't working. Took it apart, saw some wear on 1 of the magnets but the diaphragms look good and the screw is NOT broken, any idea what I should do or is it time to replace the whole thing?
    If so is there a brand you'd recommend or are these Hi-blows generally good units?
    (This one came with the 12 year old house so I don't know exactly how old it is)

    Why would It break off

    • @wholesalesepticsupply9801
      @wholesalesepticsupply9801  6 років тому +1

      Well it break because the diaphragm tears. The diaphragm keeps the magnet aligned so it doesn’t rub on the coils. The screw breaks so the magnet doesn’t damage itself or any other component of the aerator. If the screw breaks there is 95 percent chance you need to rebuild the unit because the diaphragm has torn.

    • @bigshaggy6163
      @bigshaggy6163 Рік тому

      @Wholesale Septic Supply actually mine has that switch instead of the screw. I think it just flipped. I Swapped units, but replaced the diaphragms and reset the switch. When the new unit stops I'll swap and rebuild the new one. Comes in handy to have 2.

    • @wholesalesepticsupply9801
      @wholesalesepticsupply9801  Рік тому

      @@bigshaggy6163 the reset switch is problematic sometimes it wears out and you have to fold a business card and put it between the orange micro switch and the white sliding mechanism so the orange switch stays depressed.

    Is there a way to know if you just need a repair kit or a diaphragm kit? I see both listed on your website www.wholesalesepticsupply.com/products/hiblow-hp-80-diaphragm-rebuild-kit and www.wholesalesepticsupply.com/products/hiblow-hp-80-air-pump-rebuild-kit ?

    • @wholesalesepticsupply9801
      @wholesalesepticsupply9801  7 років тому +2

      One comes with the chamber block that has check valves that do wear out if you've had it for two years and the unit needs to be rebuilt I would say you would be fine with just the diaphragm kit. If its been 4-5 years i would get the full kit as it comes with a new filter as well and the cost is not that much.

      They cycle 60 times a second 1.8 billion times a year. So they theoretically run really well. It might be the diffuser like with anything it has a optimal range but f pressure and flow to get the maximum life out of the unit.
