      @UCAzLLe7zNX797xqKGVQV-ag you can dislike comments & lots of creators protested the removal of video dislikes but UA-cam(google/alphabet) profits from advertising, hiding dislikes dramatically increased watch time which increased UA-cam revenue, therefore it was a successful change. Nevermind all the people putting up troll videos with fake/bad (sometimes dangerous) tutorials that someone has no way to know if they're getting bad info or not because they see 500 liked but no the 10,000 dislikes.

    Also, about the missing cows? Cows move an awful lot more quickly and quietly than you'd think. My girlfriend and I found a couple of cows that had broken out of a field the other night. We stopped the car, the cow stopped and stared at us. We turned to fix up the gate for two minutes, and when we turned back the cow was away down the hill. If something spooks one of those things, it doesn't bound off like a deer but it doesn't hang around either. And the herd will move together.

Make up funny words if you want, but we don't think they add to the story, so we won't use them."

He said it was practically overnight in evolutionary terms. Since the brain had so little time to grow so much larger, he believed that seizures and certain illnesses were a result .

    I was driving home from a friend's house one evening. I was pretty tired but not to the point of impairment. And then I saw what looked like a plane hovering next to the highway. It was in the same place for something around 30 seconds before I drove past it, clearly seeing a hovering plane. That friend was convinced I saw a UFO. I was convinced I was seeing a hovering plane.
    A few years ago, during one of my periodic searches for hovering planes, I learned about an effect that, from a moving car, can make an airplane look as if it's hovering. And now I wonder how many UFO sightings are similarly explainable?

    • @HappyBeezerStudios
      @HappyBeezerStudios 3 місяці тому +1

      And it doesn't even need a moving car.
      What keeps planes up is airspeed, not gorundspeed. So a plane that stalls at 30 knots and flies into a 40 know headwind can not only hover, but even fly backwards.

    It sounds like he may have had a stroke or something, and some lingering paranoia/hallucinations.
    Regarding lost time, I remember driving home from work one night. Leaving the town my job was in looked very similar to driving out of the little town between that town and the one I lived in. I swear I was driving out of the first town, then the next thing I know, I'm driving out of the middle town. I have absolutely no memory of the time in between. I was a bit nervous that I might have fallen asleep, but I figure the most likely explanation is that I just kind of went on auto pilot. It was a route I had driven many, many times, so my memory may have just decided there was no reason to keep it.

    • @elizabethmcglothlin5406
      @elizabethmcglothlin5406 Рік тому +7

      That can happen on a very familiar route. You may be on autopilot, thinking about something else. It's a bit scary, though, to arrive and hope that you actually obeyed the traffic law. I assume the 'monkey' was driving. It's a smart monkey, but it has no business driving!

    • @KarynHill
      @KarynHill Рік тому +3

      I've had that happen. I was under extreme stress during the period it happened routinely but I've also had it happen on just a regular day driving back home. Interestingly, it never happened on my way driving in to work, so I think it really is just autopilot.

      Same here, going home from work, drove about 2 blocks and was suddenly pulling up into my driveway. Sunny afternoon with multiple stop lights and traffic. It was almost like I teleported. Freaked me out the 2 times it happened, but I chalked it up to being on "autopilot"

    • @hannahbbug3532
      @hannahbbug3532 Рік тому +2

      Something about "autopilot" driving that everyone might find reassuring: your brain isn't actually behaving any differently during these times than the times you can remember driving. The 'monkey' as Elizabeth calls it is still the same monkey as always that's behind the wheel. The only thing that's different is that, with routes you are familiar driving, your short term memory (which lasts a few seconds at most) does not always transfer the information to long term memory if nothing significantly different happens than the other dozen times you've driven the particular route. You're not 'in a daze' or something like that, you are fully aware in the moment of your driving and what you're doing, you just forget what you did a few seconds later because it's unnecessary information to commit to long term memory (as it's no different than your other memories of the route). So not as concerning as you might think!

    I'd like to share two stories related to some side elements discussed in this video:
    The first has to do with Simion being correct about the brain just having a spell. When I was about twelve I experienced a seizure...one minute I'm talking to my dad, the next I see a flash of bright light as a dragon breaths fire on me...only to regain consciousness moments later with my father standing over me.
    The second is the perception of lost time. Coming home from work late one night, or early depending on one's stance of early morning hours, I lost about 25 minutes, which is roughly how long it takes to get from the town where I worked to the bottom of the mountain I lived on. I attribute these lost minutes as a culmination of two things: tiredness, and the hypnotic lines of the road resulting from being tired.

    In 1998 in Kissimmee, Florida my friend and I riding g our bikes on the way to his house to okay N64 stopped to smoke a joint in the woods by our subdivision. But before we could even light the joint we heard a low frequency hum, we looked all around and couldn’t find what was making the sound, it didnt sound like it was above us, but in Kissimmee which is close to Disney we were used to seeing Goodyear Blimps advertising attractions in the area so we looked up suspecting thats what it was. There was absolutely something there, it just wasn’t a blimp. It was black almost cloaked, but had a few very thin but very powerful lights on the bottom. The hair on our arms stood on end, and we both felt like an extreme field of static electricity. The object was about the size of a small passenger plane, like one of those connecting flight planes, slightly larger than a private jet but it wasn’t a plane either because it was just hovering, not even Blimps could hover in one spot for so long like this thing was. My friend officially freaked out lit the joint and we smoked a joint while staring at this thing. Then out of nowhere it just disappeared. We never really spoke of it to anyone, the first few we told ridiculed us, and called us crazy for thinking it was a UFO, so we agreed to just be quiet about it. And then the US released classified info about UAP’s and we spoke again about what we saw and both of us felt immediate vindication in what we saw.
    To think in a Universe like ours where in our own Galaxy contains billions of Planets that we are alone is not only ignorant, it’s absurd.

But it’s like… a long shot at best and it depends on the person’s willingness, because the mind is a powerful thing. If you believe it’s crap, your conscious mind basically won’t allow anything to happen. Dunno where I heard that tho

    Alright I have an explanation for the cow/cows being found shut into the car park. When I was driving home one day about a half mile from home there was a cow blocking the road. Leaving the cow there didn't seem like a great idea because I was worried it would cause an accident, so I moved it into the closest fenced area I could find. No idea if that field belonged to the people that owned the cow, but I decided it wouldn't be too hard for someone missing a cow to realize a cow mysteriously showed up in a neighbors yard so it would resolve itself. Once I got the cow off the road and blocked it with my car it was pretty easy to get it to wander past the gate so I could close it, and I'm guessing if someone saw them in the road and thought it was a hazard they may have found a way to herd the cows into the lot if the gate wasn't locked. Also quite possible for him to have missed the cows when driving by previously because you wouldn't necessarily think of looking in a car lot so you may not be looking as closely, and because they may have been obscured behind vehicles in the lot etc.

    I don’t know, Simon, I think it’s fair for the guy to capitalize off the thing that nearly destroyed his life. It’s taking ownership of something out of your control, and GETTING control of it! The ufo license plate nearly had me making seal sounds with my laughter!
    But as for the repressed memory treatments - I don’t ever think it’s worth it. I’m a survivor of SA, it happened when I was 5, and while I don’t remember ANY of the actual assault, I remember the build up more clearly than I recall last night, despite it being 19 years ago. Other survivors I talked to who also had suppressed memories recommended I don’t look into trying to remember it 9 out of 10 of the times. Pretty sure a lot of the “memories” produced from these “sessions” are induced and kinda play into whatever perspective the session leader is taking which… is really, REALLY scary.
    It’s like, no thank you, I’d rather NOT know the grim details my brain is saving me from.

    Simon, I have a 30 - 35 year old memory of when I *almost* saw a UFO. Wait, what, "almost?!?!?" you might say. yeah, laying in bed, as a child (maybe 8 - 12 sorry that's so vague) I saw several incredibly bright white lights "low" on the horizon and moving in a seemingly impossible manner. I was transfixed. Frozen in my bed with fear, but unable to look away, or pull the covers over my head. As I watched more near-impossible motion increased until it settled into a flat and steady path, the white lights were joined by red ones, and then the plane flew surprisingly low over my house. It is still vividly burned into my memory, and if I had the skills could recreate the incident with animation software.
    Oh, not really certain why I wanted to share that, as I never have before (maybe that's why) and am curious if the people that think they saw a UFO bailed before it became clear what it actually was...
    Love the channel!
    -Shawn
