    Aaaah good old days. We loved these watches back in Luftwaffe. One time i lost my wingman in a dogfight flying over Britian and intrumentation on Bf-109 didn't work, so i had to use this watch to comeback home. Saved my life. What a legend. It still works like an atomic clock. :)

      I remeber one day I left my cellphone at home. I was lost.. Didn't know what day it was, where I'm heading to. I wasn't sure if I'm late or early.. Then I remembered I have my fliger on the wrist. I forgot to wind it that day. It wasn't moving. I asked old lady on the street for help. It was all OK in the end..

    Love my Laco.I like that Laco has a bunch of sizes for different wrist sizes and Type A or Type B for each size. At 7.5inch wrist I can wear the larger sizes. I also went with a Type B dial to so it wasn’t as “boring” like mentioned in the video.

    Have a Stowa Flieger like this for 12 years. The Laco is great too, a bigger company and local US support. Still a Stowa Fanboi. I own a Laco Amazonas which isn't a flieger. Nice to see this at least for me on Flieger Friday. Only difference between the Heidelberg and my Stowa is it''s 36mm and COSC certified and top level eta and sapphire caseback. One can't go wrong either way.

      I looked at both. Finally bought Stowa 36. Differences is the lug style, brush versus sand blasted surface, see thru back for Stowa versus just cover for Laco, strap colour, the FL number at the side for Laco, crown design is different. So, final decision depends on your preference. I have no shipping issue.

    Hi Teddy, Im deciding on my first pilot/fleiger watch and really like Hamilton, Laco, and Stowa. Im concerned about service costs over the years and difficulty getting them serviced. Do you have a recommendation around the $1k mark of a pilot watch where servicing would not be difficult or overly costly? Preferences: 42(ish) dial, auto or manual, pilot style. Thanks Teddy! Love the vids.

    • @Tableturn
      @Tableturn 2 роки тому +1

      This Laco watch. With an ETA 2824, it will be easier and more budget-friendly in terms of servicing. Most watch makers who service watches won’t charge the earth to give this a service and a clean.
      For example, my Seamaster 300m has an ETA 2824. I get it serviced every 5-10 years depending on its performance. Costs me about £350 each time. Easy decision.

      What is your regrets? Just wonder as i got handwinding model- Mulheim der Ruhr and really like it. Only one drawback for me is that crown pinching my hand sometimes. IWC cost around 4500$ vs 1150$ Laco. For ''some extra money'' you can get three different Laco watches. THX.

In automatics it's ok but i prefer handwinding movements. Laco got new models PRO - customisable to your liking with screw down crown case only, even handwindig ones! I really don't see the point?! I know it must be screwed down for 20 ATM but if i need good waterproof watch i'll buy i diver not pilot one. With mine at 10 ATM you can do most water activity including swimming but diving, enough for most people i guess. Probably most diver watches never see the sea! Just fashion buying fad.

      This design dates back to WW2. Laco, Stowa, IWC, A. Lange, and Wempe all produced this design to military specs. IWC, Stowa and Laco still produce designs derived from those specs, including the big pilot, with this Laco variant being the most faithful to the original Type A dial.
