I've never had the death wobble on mine. But, I did have the tires changed to some high end Metzelers. Love the content and I pretty much agree with everything you said. However, I changed out my exhaust with a Cobra slip on and intake. Had to get an ECU to map the fuel. Other than that, love the bolt. If I can figure out how to get a sixth gear on it I will recommend that too.
I did not really notice it with the stock tires, but I don't take my hands off unless I am coasting a lower speed. I could see the stock tire design exasperating it, though with that wave down the middle. I went with Shinko 777s upon time to replace and don't notice an issue.
Koso replacement speedo. It's 'plug and play', and gives you half a chance to read it in anything brighter than twilight. Also keeps the mileage correct.
This video is exactly what I needed. Thankyou. I recently got a bolt. Second bike ever. First one was a 250 rebel had it for 4 months and upgraded to the bolt 💀 my only complaint is that I was able to be way more aggressive around corners with my tiny rebel. but with my bolt I literally have to turn the bars like a bicycle at stop signs and such or my foot pegs will scrape the road.
Certainly a lot less maneuverable than any of my sport bikes. Had a Yamaha R3 and could turn around on a dime. My '18 Bolt R-Spec now has over 40K miles on it. Had an '18 blue one I bought new in '19, got stolen out of the apartment complex parking lot I was living at right when all the COVID lockdowns came about. Bought this gray one summer '20 used for $6600 and have been riding it ever since.

@@noelwhyte9834 hay good luck man, I’m still riding mine and of all the bikes I’ve own this has been my favorite. FYI I’m 6’7” 360lbs some people thinks it’s funny but this bike can carry my fat ass 90mph up a hill. After the the forward control mod I’d still look into highway pegs, I run both but for Obvious reasons. If you have any question feel free to reach out.
Hey Tardy, I have a V&H slip on and Saddlemen on my 14 bolt and was thinking of getting an intake for it because I agree. The loaf of bread is bothering me by it's looks and it gets in the way of my leg. Would I need to run a power commander for it? Or can I just run Ivan's tune? Great video man keep it up!
Personally I would get the intake and see how bad the popping is and also see if the engine seems to be running poorly. That being said, you will more than likely have to get a tuner. One of the next build videos will involve me installing a dyne tuner so at least when the time comes, you will have a video to help you.haha thanks for the support!!
@@Tardy_Productions for sure Tardy thanks for the advice man, what you do with the bolt is awesome. I know this thing doesn't have as much of an aftermarket support system like sportsters do so your videos inspire bolt owners like me. Keep up the great work bro, too bad these bikes leak oil when you try wheeling em, but I love my bolt. Never rode a sportster or dyna but I have heard of people trading them for bolts and being really happy with em. I'll be on the lookout for the dyno jet install as well as future bolt content 🤘
Weird, you published this just about the same time I searched "yamaha bolt mods". Good stuff, but don't forget - if you replace your intake and exhaust, a tune is in order.
Mine was pretty rich without a tune, dyno verified. Maybe my aftermarket filter was not as free flowing as advertised or perhaps the ecu compensates, or it does not need a tune with an intake and just a slip-on exhaust.
The bazooka! I just bought some ceramic muffler matting and will pack my aftermarket V&H slip on with it to quiet it down a bit. Nothing to lose, bought in 2020 and used it for a week and was too loud so it's been sitting in the box for 3-1/2 years. I paid $400 for it so I'm getting my money's worth. I just couldn't bring myself to try to sell it on eBay as it's bike specific.
@@christopherdekonstrukt444 I feel like some of the slip bonds are always too loud. I’ve heard you can re-pack them and make them quieter but I haven’t gone through the process.
Does the v star 95o have the same steering bearing issue? I have exhaust, air filter and EJK 5:08 controller, and runs so much better. But it does need a sixth gear!
i dont personally know about forwards but i prefer mid controls so the stock location is my favorite! i do wish i had a bit more room but thats why i have a dyna now. but after 5 Yamaha bolts, it was time 🤣
@@dustinsautodetailing for myself, I’ve only had a tuner on one of my bolts. I believe the stock ECU has enough range to at least let it run fine based off my experience. Of course would be better if you got a tune or an EC, you flash, and it will pop, but I’ve had no issues with it.
Hey, do you suggest changing the head steering barren on the 2020 R-Spec as well. Not sure what year model you were referring to, or do current models need same mod
go about 30mph, let go of the bars and see if there is a head shake. I would assume there is due to them just being different colors. I would recommend getting it changed or wait until I do it to mine so you can see how exactly it would be done. Good question though!
We did the Bassani pipes VH intake and sent the computer to Ivans. Let me tell ya the computer revamp is extremely important. With out the computer upgrade everything else is pointless.
@@Tardy_Productions My 2 cents says no. Make contact with Ivans, tell him every thing you are going to do and he will reset your computer exactly where it needs to be. My sons bolt now runs along side my 1600 mean streak until about 80 mph. Its faster than a vtx 1300. Its impressive!

I would say yes but it will require modification on the bike end. The rear fender has the clamp for the rear of the seat I think. Just pop the seat off and see where exactly it clamps
I removed my rear fender and yes it will work but I also fabricated a bracket for the mount point that was on the fender but now it has no contact with it and the seat is still solid thus far
No go in California. My dealership cant even get the parts. Ebay, nope. Restrictions. I drilled out baffle in exhaust and holes in air intake. If you know how to smuggle in parts to california let me know. Oh, and the tickets. Yea. Talk about that.
Similar mods but I would recommend a seat change and look for mid controls instead of the further back ones the c-spec comes with. Let me know if you have any other questions!(:

Yes. That would be my number one mod wish. A 6th gear. And I don't even drive at high speeds.

Bought a bolt 2 weeks ago and got the bassani sweeper exhaust. It sounds amazing but before you buy, consider the fact that its REALLY loud.
Have the V&H intake works good. Use a rain sock with it and replace every couple of months.

Allball pin bearing
