Missile damage type does matter, as that tengu offensive has a kinetic bonus, which only applies to Scourge Missiles.
That is a VERY good point. Knew there was a reason I had 14,000 Caldari Navy Scourge kicking around. Thank you for pointing out a noob error!
@Captain Benzie It is not a highlighted word so most miss it, a few ships have restriction on bonus damage in this regard, though it is mostly Caldari and Guristas. However they do get a higher damage bonus than ships without a damage type restriction.
Yeah, was about to say the same, kinetic for Tengu 100% of the time unless the rats are EM weak, in that case better to use EM. Everything else go for kinetic as you get the bonuses for those.
he is such a noob sometimes it hurts. Making guides with this many knowledge gaps
Get over yourself, bud. Better yet, why don't you become an EVE partner and start producing videos. Too difficult for ya? Then STFU. @@brendonprophette8890
I'm glad you are doing Eve Online videos. I usually would watch your Echoes videos even though I don't get on as much. I was like, am I watching the right video, isn't this Eve Online? 🤣 Good stuff.
Glad you like them! Been making EVE Online videos for well over a month now (did a load a while back too) as I'm shifting my focus across.
used to play eve in 2013, back then I farmed lvl4 complexes in Tengu in high sec, would find 3-4 1.5bil invulnerability fields a day sometimes along with faction shield boosters
Yeah, running DEDs is another popular use for it for sure!!
Lucky dog, nice.
Unfortunately CCP nerfed that - the DED 3+4 sites don’t admit T3Cs any more. You can take cruisers into DED3 and BCs into 😂DED4s ☹️
@@gothmog2441 Later I did it in Ishtar :D guess they nerfed it as well
it must be nice to be able to not make battleship or carrier content! I miss small ship content like this! I can tell it feels like a breath of fresh air to you from the way you talk as well :)
It really is! Thank you ☺️
I remember that point in time! I miss my Tengu haha havnt touched EVE in YEARS
Maybe this is a sign to come back? ;)
@@captainbenzie unfortunately I already have a full time job, if I lose that, I just might!
@@Sock66 haha 😅 to be fair, I'm finding EVE quite easy to just casually dive into some days ☺️
I just got the Legion and I’m liking it so far. I have a missile/drone set up which seems to be doing good. I am very indecisive when it comes to fits and ships so being able to switch it all without consequences is amazing.
Nice! I've recently picked up a Legion myself and not sure how to fit it. What are you running?

This is a good video, I personally switched to a Loki from a tengu but I also like to run around webbing people doing WH sites because it's a fun change of pace from ratting. One thing though, Rage missiles have worse application than Javelins, since they are designed to be used at minimum against things of your same size but preferably bigger. For example a Mjolinr Rage HAM has an explosion velocity of 87 m/sec and an explosion radius of 215 m/sec while a Mjolinr Javelin HAM has an explosion velocity of 101 m/sec and an Explosion Radius of 125 m/sec. So the application of Javelin's is always better than Rage but they do have much worse damage. I find in general it's best to use Javelins against things that are wanting to keep further than your rage missiles and also against webbing/neuting/jamming frigates. For rage you can use them against cruisers and notice a slight DPS increase (again this will not be amazing because the signature radius of cruisers is generally lower than that of the explosion radius of a rage missile) but they are especially useful against battleships. With an AB on and an orbit of about 1km you can do full application of rage missiles and shred sleepers. Though watch out for things like upholder battleships because they can neut pretty heavily,, so in that case you could see if your spare GJ recharge rate would last enough to run your active tank, if not just take the DPS loss and play safer usually.
I run both Rage and Javelin in the hold for those exact reasons and have the Missile Guidance Precision script to help too.
Recently picked up a Loki on main (had an Autocannon one on alt for a while now, though the video hasn't launched yet) and keen on trying it compared to the Tengu.
@@captainbenzie I personally run HAM Loki for sites but I wonder how well an AC would run them. If you make a video on that I'll be sure to watch.
@@evangel1460 I've been doing it for a few weeks now. Video is uploaded, should be released over the next week or so.
I just barely picked up my first tengu last night, but it's a different fit. This one is closer to what I've been wanting to do so I'll have a look and adjust for my playstyle.
Thanks!!
Hope you have fun!!
Thanks for vid. was just looking into the Tengu and i wanted to do the exact same thing you showing right here! :D awesome man.
Glad I could help!
Watching this makes me miss my Tengu. Aside from Macharial, T3 ships were about the best feeling in the game
"It's also worth noting at this point that I'm a bit of and idiot." ~Captain Benzie 2023 😂 @19:07.
Love ya mate.
😂
This is the way I like to play. One ship to do a variety of things and I wish there were more ships like this. I hate having to swap ships to do scanning, combat, relics/data etc.
It's not too bad when you're in a wormhole corp, but yeah, it's definitely a fun playstyle!!
Just lost my Loki trying my first c3. Last wave shredded through my tank 😥 @@captainbenzie
A happy benzie video?
Hurray!
All of my EO ones have been happy :D
@@captainbenzie it's a healthy change.
I have about 24 days left to get into the loki. I didn't know it was meta. I just like it. Really I like all of them I just really love the cannons.
Yeah, Loki has become the most popular one. It does well with Projectiles and HAMs, it's decent for PVE, and amazing for PVP.
I used to love the look of the Tengu, but I'm not a fan of the changes they made to the propulsion system. All three subsystems add engines to the back that are tacked on in a way that makes it look like an externel element that isn't part of the streamlined design of the hull. There used to be an option where the engines were placed internally in the back of the hull, so basically how it is now but without the engines. It looked so cool. I don't mind the current engines for the afterburner subsystem, just not for all of them. Well, you can't have everything. 🙂
I don't remember that! Intriguing... 🤔
@@captainbenzie I'm not exactly sure when, but maybe over 10 years ago. The design is otherwise unchanged and I do really like it. It's just... the small details, you know. You know how it is. 😊
Thanks for the idea it worked out to be very fun. Here is an improved fit with the same value tank wise (same shield boost and resist amounts), improved damage application to cruisers/destroyers/frigates, and much more resistant to nuets. The cost is about the same as you showed but I found the fit much more flexible due to the rig changes. There is only about a 200 mil difference between a budget fit (large shield booster and no faction/deadspace) and this one.

thank you for removing unneeded bling, could you suggest inteligent bling for trying c4?
Hey man you don't mention what I should be sig tanking and at what range? Should I be dropping the MTU and orbiting it? If so what range? :) Also, is it just the Fortification Frontier Stronghold this fit can do comfortably?
Great video! :)
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed!!
Have you done a video on the Data and relic sites in worm holes?
The secured and forgotten ones.
I have one on the way that looks at the sites in more depth, but I did do a video showcasing how a Stratios can solo run the Unsecured Data Servers that spawn in C5s, for about 80+m in loot for a site that takes 15 mins.
Gleaming. Thanks mate.
If i were asked to only fly one ship in eve online for everything, tengu is my top choice. People say battleship is minimal for wormhole contents, but i have seen people done even c5 sites (no drifter spawn) in a tengu, may not be efficient but its possible, i personally use the tengu for combat/exploration sites in lower class wormholes and it have made me alot isk. the tengu is one of the most useful ships in my opinion (but the loki is better than tengu for pvp as thats what its meta for, though nothing beats tengu in pve)
I agree and pretty much what I'm doing with it too
There is a special build that dominates Loki on tengu. Mid slot paradise for complete Loki shutdown but fewfew know thank goodness.
Most T1 BS are definitely a step down. When people say BS they were probably talking extremely expensive faction or T2 BS, and even then, the only BS I’ve managed to solo a C5 in was the Macharial.
@@MarsStarcruiser glad to see people doing c5 in machariels, id recommend a marauder for that as me personally uses a golem
@@thebuddy4517 Not sure about trying marauder. Between my T3’s and my faction BS’s, I feel like my PVE needs are already met and have a severe lacking on PVP skills. If I push further into BS beyond this, it’ll likely be for black ops at this point.

It should be noted it's not anywhere near 100+ m per hour because you ignore scanning. Scanning with this setup (as I verified myself) is a long and painful process, to actually find the correct type of site takes a lot of time, not to mention finding C3 wormhole in the first place.
You should clarify that you mean IN-COMBAT time which is probably the least amount of time you spend when C3 ratting.
I'm in a wormhole corp using Tripwire so we have scouts mapping for us. Also, if you find a single C3 system with 4+ sites, that's 100m an hour. That's why I'm not so pedantic.
After some weeks of C3 anomalies I can confirm that in terms of pure combat time (with a 800m fit Tengu) you can make 200m/h. However, since you need to find new C3s it is probably overall near 140-150m/h. More if you have scouts but I guess SOMEONE's gotta pay them too so there's that.
Great video thanks. One question though. How does this hold up in a C3 with Magnetar WH effect?
Magnetars are weird. Your application suffers so the frigates take a while to die, but battleships just drop.
You don't mention what skill levels you're at for the various fittings and ship. I am at -9.3 power grid and yet you're at 31. Could you list your skill levels pls?
It would take literally ten minutes of video to list every skill that could affect the ship, which is why I don't put that in videos 😅 the skills you'll need to look at are Powergrid Management, Weapons Upgrades, and Advanced Weapons Upgrades
@@captainbenzie I'm actually greatly appreciative that you replied because most people don't reply to me.
I have PM lvl 5, WU lvl 5 and AWU lvl 4
I don't know how you weren't introduced to the signal cartel backpacker tengu since it was designed several years ago to do exactly what you want to do with this thing. It's expensive. At least the blingy version meant to run any c3 site available, but it's effective
I've not seen a Signal Cartel specific version but I've since found a "do all C3 content" fit 👍
@@captainbenzie We have a fit called the backpacker tengu and a bling version that could run all of the c3 sites including the data and relic sites
@@Its-Just-Zip I'd like to see that! Especially one that can run C3 Unsecured/Forgotten!!
@@captainbenzie I'll shoot it to you in an eve-mail. At least I'm fairly certain it can run the relic and data sites and I'll double check with null about that, but he said he set it up to run every single site possible and they are grossly overtanked
@@Its-Just-Zip that'd be awesome, thank you! I've got a fit that runs all the combat sites, but not the Forgotten/Unsecured
My no1 PVE ship of all ❤
It's an awesome ship!
Which relic encounter (besides the safe ones, of course) and combat sites in worm holes can I "comfortably" go in with this build? Don't want to go into the wrong one and risk losing my tengu 😅
C3. Unknown parts of Space only. For some reason I can't get this fit to work, I run out of PG - all skills are at 5 (all that I can think of that would impact this)
@AshleyDoyle_ERR404
Thanks!
I'm just trying to fit this out, but struggling with power grid. I've got level 5 in power grid management, but struggling to fit the shield booster.
Make sure Weapon Upgrades is well trained too to reduce weapon Powergrid use
I found that the 3% implant at 19mil isk gave me just enough to fit the booster.
I then lost the Tengu on my first c3 site due to PvPers. Unfortunately my D scan was at 180 not 360.... So didn't see them pop in. Another lesson learnt
@@darrencreese7999 Nice! About the implant, I mean, not the loss. But still, lesson learned!!
what Tech2 ship would you recomend to do the Wormholes?
i still struggle with the rats in there, (probably also using the wrong weapons)
Depends on the tier.
A C2 needs a solid cruiser or T3D. A Battlecruiser works too.
C3+ you need a T3C, Gila, or Battleship really.
Are you in a Drake? That was my original C3 runner. Plenty of C3 builds posted online for it, if you aren’t already.
If you have 1 (C1 to C2) or 2 chars (C3) , you can try this fit : Maybe this ship works for C3 too.

@@zzpernar5063 i settled with a Gnosis as its one of the few ships that can carry a enhanced probe launcher (toolshed mode) haha
Out of interest why the expanded probe launcher? If you’re mostly using this for sites then would it not be better with a core launcher with the lower fitting requirements?
Difference in fitting is 2 CPU. They get a fitting bonus for scan probe launchers.
The fitting requirements are minimal and if you're in an system where your sites are more than 14.3AU away from a wormhole you can set up Combat Probes to scan.
As an example, a couple of days ago I was ratting a C3 that I knew had two exits. One was to a C5 but more than 14.3AU, the other was to a C2 about 3AU away.
The C5 isn't going to show on DScan, so I put Combat Scanners around it at range and I scan with those too
Also, I often dock and refit between different builds. Using an Expanded means I don't have to carry a Core and Combat in hold and refit.
Finally, on the off chance that I'm an idiot and have to warp out and forgot to bookmark the MTU, I can scan it down.
I have a great c3 tengu fit that tanks like a monster and is very neut resistant.
840dps
Would love to see that fit!
Why is the fit in the video different than the one in the description?
Now updated. It's the same, just swap a Multispectrum Shield Hardener II for the Zeugma Integrated Analyzer.
Tengu that's a demon of Asian background
My favourite representation of them is either the Tengu ninja in Sekiro, or the birdmen in Muramasa Rebirth.
Is this usable for all c3 sites or only the fortification frontiers?
It does all 4. Outpost final wave requires good skills (both SP and in general piloting) to keep up traversal. The damage in that last wave is high
Awesome thank you very much!
@@KazumaYamas good luck!

I seem to be missing some powergrid for the Medium Core Defense Operational Solidifier II's rig. my corp suggested I train a few skills that reduce the powergrid of some modules like Advanced Weapon Upgrades, any more tip in this regard or is that what I should do ? :P

Can you put fits I'm description of videos please?
Great idea, will do!
kinda works as a prove of concept video .
fuck up this bad and it still works xD
Exactly
How do you find your c3 rat sites? I've been using this fit for two days and haven't found one yet... Lots of data sites, but it's super slow at those too. Also, this ship is a beast. I got jumped by an Astero and Ferox, and they wound up warping away because they were losing. (I was dead meat if they had a full crew, thankfully not)
To find a C3 ratting site, you need to be in a Class 3 J-Space system. Tripwire will tell you if you're in one. Combat sites appear in the Cosmic Signature list and can be warped to instantly. C3 sites have the names: Solar Cells, Fortification Frontier Strongholds, Outpost Frontier Stronghold, the Oruze Construct.
@@captainbenzie oh that makes sense… i think i was in a K system
@@captainbenzie No... actually it's even dumber than I previous thought. I was in C3 systems and I had all my anomalies filtered on the probe scanner XD
fooorrty two millions isk
Per site, taking 15mins per site 🚀
It wasn't a small nerf it was a massive nerf, you now have to use hams to get any decent damage, that highlights the other issue, it does not have much tank for an in your face fight, it was a fantastic ship which did many thing good, a few things very good, but like many ships in Eve, once it became a regular in some fleets it's death warrant was already signed, same with the Drake, only when it was a fleet favourite did they nerf it, funny there are so many ships which get used in big fleets, so far CCP has not gone after them, I would rather they brought in new ships rather than continue to nerf older ones using the guise of balance.
I feel it is balanced. Previous Drake was ubiquitous because it was just better than the alternatives. Now it's still very popular but you can fly other things.
The T3Cs all got nerfed hard, and good, they needed it. They were purposely designed OP due to the SP loss. When folks talk about the T3C nerf, it's rarely pointed out that it happened alongside the removal of an INCREDIBLY steep penalty for losing one. That penalty kept it in line. Without it, it needed to be a less ridiculous ship.
As for the HAMs thing, this suggests a narrow viewpoint. Damage isn't everything. A RLML Tengu can be terrifying in PvP, and missiles have one thing that HAMs don't. Range. Don't underestimate how powerful that can be.
Why spend 300m isk on T3C and earn 160m/hr
When u can invest 30m on a navy issue destroyer and make 150m+ /hr in FW 🤷♂️
Simple. Not everyone enjoys PvP. At the end of the day, EVE is still a videogame. People want to have fun whilst playing it.
Tengu makes some players jealousy. I joined corps where the owner refuses that ship in any activity. Thats how good it is. Spawns jealousy.
It's a great ship!
160M isk/h Well the economy sure has gone and shit itself since I played last..
To put that in context of 15 years ago you had to pay $15 a month or 150M for a PLEX
that fit would have made you a very very rich man back then at $250 for every 24 hours of operation if you sold the PLEX at $10
The economy has grown and changed. With current incomes in gameplay, 150m is easily doable in the first day or so as a new player with the right ship, fit, and content. Incomes have gone up, but so have costs. The beauty is that they've ultimately risen side by side so it's effectively similar.
I do 853 DPS. Im not a nublet.
Didn't say you were
15m of fighting, but you have to figure in how much time you spent scanning down the hole and the site before you get an accurate isk/hr
That's utterly missing the point. No, you don't. ISK/hr is a rate. Since you don't scan down sites, since you can find dozens in a single wormhole, since you can be in a wormhole corp that has everything already on Tripwire...
When I say "X ISK/hour" I'm talking peak rate, not "if you log in and do everything yourself" because that should simply be implied.
