    Hello everyone, thank you for watching this video and I appreciate your
    support and lovely comments. Just to add a little extra information ,
    this video covers observation mainly, which is different to Mirror checks although they would be related. Mirrors is more about being aware of what is behind you but
    observation is about being aware and alert to what's on the main road or
    what could be coming on the roundabout.
    For a more detailed video on Mirror checks and to learn 5 tips to help you with your mirrors please check out this video here ----> ua-cam.com/video/gqWIArj_WJU/v-deo.html

    The last look is certainly important.
    When I first started driving, my instructor was telling me that I was moving off from junctions too slowly; I needed to get on with it quicker. So, a problem I have is finding that balance between being prompt, and being careful.

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive
      @DaneTygheletsdrive  5 років тому +1

      That will come with experience, you probably need a bit more juice and to lift the clutch up slightly quicker moving off.

    Hi Dane! Thank you so much for your videos, they've been so helpful. I was wondering, if you're at a T Junction and waiting to turn right onto the main road. You're checking traffic to the left and there is only a bicycle on the main road heading towards you, should you always wait for the bike to pass before turning or can you turn if there is enough room for both of you on the road you're turning on to? Hope that makes sense!

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive
      @DaneTygheletsdrive  2 роки тому +2

      Complete your turn if its safe, you don't have to wait if he's far away but don't go if the cyclist is close.

    When I did my 4th Driving Lesson. I done three mistakes at three Roundabouts. At the first one I turned to hard. When trying to make a right turn. Into a right lane and at the second Roundabout. I should have kept more left to. When on the outside lane. And at the third one I didn't properly see. A car coming while it passed me. But at least I didn't hit it. So I should have looked more carefully. And in good time so I need more practice on that. And it has to be done.

    Hi Dane I really appreciate these videos. I'm unclear as to when one has to glance over their shoulder and check their blindspot. I noticed in this video that you did not seem to check your blindspot when turning right and left. When is one expected to do so? Thanks again

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive
      @DaneTygheletsdrive  5 років тому +3

      You can check the blind spot moving off or changing lanes, nó need to be doing it at junctions, focus on the main road instead.

    Hi Dane, nice professional video here.
    One question that I cannot really find an answer to, when edging out to see clearly if you can go, what do you do if a car appears when you're halfway on the lane? Do you stay put or back back? I assume you couldn't back back as a car behind you could be on your tail.
    Thanks!

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive
      @DaneTygheletsdrive  4 роки тому +5

      It's most likely that you'll have to stay where you are and hope for the best, but by creeping forward slowly and gradually then you are less likely to cause disruption. The reason you haven't found an answer is because there is no answer to such a general question - it entirely depends on the situation and how you and other people deal with it.

    Observation is absolutely killing me on my tests , feel I can never get it right, when originally I was penalised for not looking enough I was told I looked too much that it was now hindering me it's so frustrating

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive
      @DaneTygheletsdrive  2 роки тому +1

      You need to find the suitable level, but please don't engage in any ridiculous acts of dramatics. They will cause you to fail and if I was a tester and I saw this kind of nonsense I'd fail you right there and then, no questions asked. Try to get driving lessons from a professional driving instructor who will be able to point you in the right direction.

    Hi Dane, Should you be looking in your left mirror before turning left (before moving onto road), and right mirror before turning right (before moving onto road)? for cyclists especially

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive
      @DaneTygheletsdrive  Рік тому +1

      It's probably no harm but don't let it interfere with your observation of other traffic on the main road. We can't go around baby sitting and molly codling cyclists because as drivers we've enough to be doing.

      Either not checking mirrors before you moved out or not looking ahead to preview the situation

    Do u have to mirror indicate mirror blind spot when changing lane on roundabout and then let's say u were turning right do u have to check right mirror and right blind spot as final check ?. Thanks waiting for my test 🙂

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive
      @DaneTygheletsdrive  2 роки тому

      On a bigger busier roundabout maybe if it's safe, if it's a standard right turn there is no need for a blindspot check unless you plan on failing your test.

    Hi Dane when you are changing down gears in a car do you need to press the brake everytime you do that in general? I mean changing from 5th to 4th gear, 4th to 3rd gear etc when driving along on a road. I'm not sure because I'm being told I don't need to do that. Many thanks.

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive
      @DaneTygheletsdrive  3 роки тому +1

      It's not that simple, it entirely depends on how fast you are going and how much of a downhill it is, you can't seriously expect me to give you a simple one word answer when there are so many types of junctions.

    • @darrenhennessy864
      @darrenhennessy864 3 роки тому +1

      Okay thanks Dane.

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive
      @DaneTygheletsdrive  3 роки тому

      In simple terms, brake on the downhill, light brake on the flat and there should be no need to brake on an uphill junction.

    Hi Dane I noticed when you were turning right at the traffic lights there was no filter light. If I was at a yellow box junction turning right and there was a filter light, would I have to wait for it to turn green(in the box) or could I just go provided the way opposite me was clear?

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive
      @DaneTygheletsdrive  4 роки тому

      You don't have to wait for the filter, you can go on the full green light as long as there's no oncoming cars.

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive
      @DaneTygheletsdrive  5 років тому +1

      It depends on the situation, for example what speed are the other vehicles moving and how fast can you take off, are they on a downhill? which could mean they'll be approaching faster, sometimes I say that if you can clearly read the number plate of the other car then he might be too close

    Thanks for this most insightful video. I understand about having to stop at STOP signs at junctions before proceeding on, due to blind/closed junctions but I'd like to ask a question please if I may. Am I allowed to apply the brake and stop at a YIELD/GIVEWAY sign at an open T junction? I am not confident enough to just "slow and go" and wondered if it's ok to actually do press the footbrake and do the creep/peep until I am at a stage where I feel I can do this safely by not actually stopping the car. Thanks so much.

    In a scenario when you give way to the right at a roundabout and say a car has just past you and took its exit, while you were waiting at the giveway line. What should you do if a car is also waiting at the giveway line to your right. Can you still go as he or she has not enterd the roundabout yet? or do you still give way to the right. I could imagine getting marked down for hesitating, i dont know what to think?

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive
      @DaneTygheletsdrive  3 роки тому +2

      I don't know either. Because it entirely depends on the situation, if there's a bigger space you might be able to go, if not then you'll need to wait. All you can do is concentrate on the traffic flow and wait in first gear so you are ready to move.
