    This is COMPLETELY different from what bobby did with buck and what bobby did with eddie. Bobby kept buck from the job because of his own personal issues and shouldn't have lied to him about why he couldn't go back to work when he got the go ahead from everyone that he was good to go back. I dont agree with the lawsuit but I under why he did it. Especially with all the hypocrisy with everyone else. Eddie had some obvious/serious mental health issues he needed to work out and bobby was right to not allow him back yet. So much is going through his head that he's not thinking clearly and bobby doesn't want eddie getting hurt on the job because he's not taking care of himself.

    The "Go to hell Bobby" line hits harder once you think about how this is the exact place Bobby believes he is headed to after that fire.
    Anyway my general view over this is that in no way Bobby was wrong for suggesting Eddie to look help first before come back to work, specially after witnessing such unstable behavior, but I'm also not mad at Eddie for lashing out, because even tho he was quite low with that comment, like really low, this basically just prove Bobby's point about him not being well, and we know Eddie would never dare to say such a fucked up thing it if he was in a right state of mind.
    It was visible Eddie was not okay, he did put a happy face mask when going to ask for his job back, but Bobby saw through it, as well seeing it Eddie wasn't well and logically, he did hold the transference to his team temporarily so Eddie could prioritize his mental health instead, because admitting him back to work in that state could potentially be dangerous for the team and Eddie himself, who would most likely brush all the issues he has under the carpet again.
    Anyway really sad scene, but it's really well done, Peter and Ryan did great here.

      Frankly if I was Bobby, even if I didn't know Eddie had a shitload of trauma, the fact that he made such a big decision to quit firefighting for his kid's sake and now wants to come back just 3 months later would give me pause. Feels like he's all over the place.
      I do think Bobby should've avoided saying that last thing, "hope they don't ask me for a recommendation", that bit of snark seemed to be the last straw that caused Eddie to lash out. Not that I'm excusing what Eddie said in any way, it was pretty nasty.

    Eddie is reacting like most folks do when told that they need help, he gets angry and defensive and doesn't stop for a second to think there may be something to it. And in Eddie's case in particular, it definitely seems to me like his father instilled some toxic masculinity BS in him that causes him to repress everything, because he feels like seeking help would make him weak and not a proper "macho man".
    It looks like he's headed for a true crash and burn in the coming episodes (we saw the clip of him sobbing). Going to be rough. And I do hope he takes back what he said to Bobby at the end here, that was a hell of a low blow.

    Why’s everyone saying Bobby deserved that? Are you forgetting that Bobby was ready to commit suicide once he reached his goal. He wasn’t in the right state of mind and he ACTUALLY took the time he needed off.
    Bobby is literally looking out for Eddie, you can literally see that he wasn’t ready. I honestly think it’s a good call, because you can’t keep changing your mind about what role you would like when your job involves other people safety. You need to be in the right mental state which Eddie clearly isn’t in. That was a low blow, and it wasn’t like Bobby started the fire on purpose

    I like that they did this again, it shows that it can happen a lot more then people realize and it shows how quickly someone in pain can turn on you for trying to help. Bobby faced this twice now, Buck first, then Eddie, both had bad reactions and Bobby was at the brunt of it both times yet still holds them in his heart because he knows they don't truly mean it.
    I love this type of awareness, and I love seeing a positive and caring boss where you always hear about horrible bosses irl, Bobby sees them all as family and wont let them go into danger knowing that they could break under the pressure. Bobby is an amazing character.

      eddie already acknowledged that buck's feelings were understandable when they made up way back then. and what do you mean, eddie has people looking out for him unlike buck? bobby has looked out for both of them. and it was eddie who went to buck to help pull him out of his depression. buck's choice to sue the department is what made him separate from the team, it was not the teams choice (though he still had maddie). eddie has bobby looking out for him from a distance, and who else? buck is just now noticing that eddie looks tired and it's been three months since he left and buck knew eddie was not okay even before that. as eddie's best friend, why hasn't he done more? he said himself he's spending all his time with taylor and didn't even follow up when eddie was a no show at the bar after he just noticed he might not be doing well. lets be fair.

    This was hard to watch. Bobby 👩‍🚒 is only looking out for Eddies best interests, by preventing him from coming back to the 118 too soon, as he is clearly suffering and is not in the correct frame of mind to do his job. I am 💯 behind Bobby, not only is he the Captain, but he is also responsible for all the other firefighters too, he has to make all the major decisions and has to be sure that Eddie is mentally stable and able to do his job. What Eddie said to Bobby was reprehensible and unforgivable, bringing up yet again the worst experience of his life. I am not sure what Eddie was thinking, but knowing the amazingly kind person that Bobby is, he will no doubt forgive those very hurtful comments in time.

      But look at how he treated Buck. Totally diffrent. Buck was only recovering from a leg injury and was cleared by both the doctors and the brass who is above Bobby. Eddie can still see his therapist while have his job back. Buck does. That is no way in any shape or form fair. Bobby thinks he's helping but he isn't. He's making it worse. He needs to stay out of it.

    There are three things I feel when I watch this scene:
    -I feel terirble for Bobby. He's aware that Eddie's only using these comments to lash out, not because he believes them, but it's gotta sting anyway.
    -I feel bad for Eddie because he clearly wouldn't dare if he weren't absolutely wrecked right now. And neither of them deserve this.
    -I also feels slightly vindicated on Buck's end. The one time he lashes out to defend what he believes is important to him, Eddie told him to just give it up and kinda said hurtful things to him when he didn't (and never apologised). Now he's in the same position and gets the karma treatment of knowing what Buck felt like. At least this time Bobby chose to be upfront instead of sneaking behind his back like with the bloodthinners fiasco. He's learning from his mistakes.
    Anyway, amazing job by Peter and Ryan. What great actors!

Eddie physically say he did not want to join the 118 that was his choice and he clearly not okay mentally because he dealing with a lot of trauma and Bobby is only looking out for him. Buck had a blood clot before he sued the department and he was clear by multiple doctors, Bobby should not have lied on buck and should have been honest that he was the one holding him back but on the other hand buck could have gone a different route than just suing the department. In my opinion, I think it's a bit of resentment still lingering after the lawsuit situation? Bobby went about it behind Buck's back, had the team follow suit in turning the cold shoulder when he lashed out and, in the end, never apologised. It all felt unfinished on one side. So I think they're using this as a kind of surrogate for that, since it looks familiar.
      I myself have had to cool my head and think "even if it looks similar, this situation with Bobby and Eddie is different and I should judge his actions based on what he has now, not from previous situations."
      At least, that's what I've gatheres by some people.

    I see everybody comment in this section on season 5 about Eddie and Bobby scene let's be honest Bobby was in the right because Eddie is suffering from PTSD and you'll find that out in the later episode if Bobby had let him back and and he had not deal with his trauma it would've been worse because in Eddie therapy session his therapist said to him what are you afraid of he couldn't answer that question then his therapist said to him reach out to the people that you serve with as part of your healing process you would discover that Eddie is suffering from survivor's guilt because he found out that the people that he thought he saved they killed themselves or they got killed and then you will find out that Eddie and Bobby actually had a heart to heart conversation at Eddie's place you would see Eddie and buck have a heart-to-heart conversation. Somebody mentioned Christopher said that he didn't want his dad to stop being a firefighter before that they were putting up decorations for Christmas and Christopher said that he wanted Christmas to be perfect and then he yelled out to his dad because his dad asked him what is this coming from why do you want Christmas to be perfect this year Chris said because you could be dead next year that's why Eddie quit being a firefighter because he thought he was putting his child life at risk of him being a firefighter not to mention that he didn't even tell Chris that he got held at gunpoint with buck as a hostage when they had the prison riot. And then you'll find out he had a heart to heart conversation with Carla. So all of this was contributed to Eddie leaving the 118. And somebody said that Eddie never apologized to Buck about what he said to him in the grocery store well if y'all remember that kitchen scene that Eddie and buck was having Buck basically apologize to Eddie for not being there for him and Christopher Eddie was spiraling out of control yet again. In the rage episode that was Eddie first times spiraling out of control. The second time you see Eddie spiraling out of control is going to be heart-wrenching

    I feel bad for Eddie and Bobby in this situation

  • @kbl55429
    @kbl55429 2 роки тому +7

    Im probably the only one who feels this way but Bobby actually pissed me off here, yeah what Eddie said was low and out of line and yeah maybe he's not ready to come back but im tired of Bobby getting to decide whose ready and who isn't, yeah he doesn't have to let him back to the 118 but he doesn't get to determine if he's ready or not. He can't stop him from going to another house. He did this to Buck also and Buck was cleared to go back, so if Eddie gets cleared, Bobby doesn't get to stop him from going back just like he didn't have that right with Buck.

      @Claire-Louise Bell he was wrong with Buck. Buck was cleared by the doctors meaning Bobby had no right to do what he did.

    • @kbl55429
      @kbl55429 2 роки тому +3

      @Claire-Louise Bell no he can’t, he doesn’t get to determine who is and isn’t ready to work, he can control who his firefighters are but he does not get to determine if their ready, he can get into some serious trouble with the union for that, if Buck would’ve went to the union instead of a lawsuit, there would’ve been a good chance of him losing his job, Buck was cleared, so he was wrong then too, Eddie was also cleared by medical, Bobby can’t just say your not ready, that’s not how it works, so if Eddie really wanted to he could transfer into a different fire station, but he would probably have to do something to make sure he is ready, it’s not off of a captains word.

      @@jazzyjonas6646 yes that’s why he doesn’t have to let him back at the 118 but he can’t stop him from going back to firefighting, Eddie then said we’ll I can go somewhere else and Bobby basically said he would make sure it wouldn’t happen that’s why Eddie got so mad. Eddie going back to that desk is slowly killing him, if he was back at the firehouse it would automatically lift his spirits, but Bobby doesn’t see things like, he did it with Buck, didn’t let him back and sent him off to a desk job that’s not good for blood clots, should Eddie be back firefighting, to a certain extent, he could’ve worked with his like Owen did with Judd but he didn’t, it always been his way or no way. It’s the one thing that’s always big me about him is his communication skills.

      Bobby is just trying to do his job and be a responsible captain. He can't take Eddie back if, using his better judgment, he doesn't think Eddie is stable right now. It's similar to what happened with Buck in S3, except that back then Bobby initially didn't TELL Buck he was the one preventing him from going back to work, he hid behind the top brass. This time Bobby is owning his decision and not conveniently letting Eddie think someone else is responsible, so I can't really fault him for anything.

      @@Slingblade87 you're right, but i wish that that, aside from eddie looking tired, they explained how bobby knows eddie is doing SO badly that he can't work and needs forced professional help. what information does he have to make such a strong statement and decision aside from under eye bags and eddie changing his mind after 3 months? 3 months isn't that short a time for a change of heart, it's not 3 days or weeks. anyway, *we* know bobby is right because we saw everything going on with eddie. bobby didn't see any of that.

      I agree. He obviously didn't learn his mistake with Buck. This is not your concern Bobby. Stay out of it!!!!! You don't decided who can or can not come back. That's up to the doctors and the brass. Not you dude

      As a first responder myself I wouldn't trust my captain if he'd allowed someone that is clearly not OK back on duty, the "brass" know jackshit about every single responder, z captain work shoulder to shoulder for 60 hours plus a week and yes, people that are not holding in together for any reason are LIABILITIES the kind that make responders and patients dead.

He was so hard on himself that he was ready to commit suicide once he had atoned for all those lives. He doesn’t want Eddie to go down the same road he had.
