    I just successfully fixed three broken keys on my Keystation 61 MK3, thanks to this video. It was simple enough. I unscrewed everything from the underside of the casing, set the top casing aside leaving the wires connected. I was able even leave the wires connected to the keys and just carefully set the keyboard standing up on its back. I only needed to fix three keys near the right hand side, and the circuit board is split in two so I only removed the right-side board. Then I cleaned the contacts for the dead keys under the rubber strip with alcohol. The contacts on the board actually looked kind of fried (makes sense after discovering that the previous owner spilled liquid on the keyboard), so I took a pencil and marked over the contact circuits. This added a new layer of conductivity to the contacts. Brought my three dead keys back to life! Since all the wires were still connected, I plugged the keyboard back in and tested it before re-assembling it.

    I just gave you a like because of the brave fashion statement you are making with knee high black socks.

    Thanks mate! This is exactly what I needed... Got halfway through opening one up that seems to have had coke or something sticky spillt inside it, and got the spring off but then was afraid I was going to break the keys.

    Thanks! Several of the keys on my Axium 49 weren't working at all. Not even a signal in MIDI-OX. I thought I was doomed so I opened it up -- carefully on a large smooth rug to catch the screw-- a million of them. No dust at all so I just tapped all the connectors and plugged it back in before closing it and voila! works perfectly. I have fixed a lot of things that way. Not even the slightest idea of what was wrong or exactly what I did to fix it. Probably something loose somewhere. Thanks.

    Just went into my old silver Oxy 61 1st gen and replaced the knackered old foam behind the keys in the hope of quietening the clack. No joy :( However did discover a smudge of dried up red wine from 2003 - yay! :) If anyone knows how to kill the clack on key return, I would love to hear from you. My tip: deep screws are for the case fixing, shallow ones are for the keyboard-to-case fixing. Cheers.

    this video is the bomb man! really helped me get underneath and repair my keystation 49e. I had 3 dead keys and it turns out I spilt candle wax down there years ago. it had dried up and cover up the sensors on the green plate - doh! all fixed now though

    i am trying to get keys to trigger again properly- noticed that in addition to screws corroding over the decade or two I have had the axio 25 the springs also seemed to corrode a bit -- yes nasty stuff inside but I am wondering if the two spring types have to be set to a specific setting? Or do all the white keys get put in the same position for the springs and all the black spring positions the black springs are smaller than the white springs. Is there something I should use to get the corrosion off the springs? Should I oil the springs to protect them from more corrosion. The device is still working but the keyboard part is registering multiple key pushes like a whole octive.. I figure it may have been a key jamming or something. Hoping cleaning it up will fix the issue. Thankfully I do have a full size keyboard and the knobs and drum pad part are working and I have an old akai mpd 16 hooked up to the midi and it is working... it would be nice if the keyboard was playing nice.. hopefully it will work again once I finish cleaning it up. Wondering if the spring position varies by key as it seemed that the corrsion had stopped the springs moving the same way and they were all aligned differently

    Dude, Adrian. It's Crystal Reagan ("Carrie's little sister".. aka "Tara's Twin" lol) from Del Mar. I just googled "how to clean m audio keyboard" and your video was the top hit. XD Nice to randomly find you on the interwebs. *subscribed* I still have "Filawigga's Rice Rocket Rhythms" complete with the CD case and ghetto printed insert/cover. (Like, it is literally one of probably 100 physical CDs total I still own at all anymore.) Hope you're doin' well and thanks for the keyboard cleaning tips (even though I have an old M-Audio 61es, your vid was still relevant enough for my needs and super helpful!) And if you have any other UA-cam channels, lemme know. I'll find 'em and toss you a sub.

    Does anyone know if the Keystation 61 MK3 has individual keys and springs like the Keystation 61es or II version or Axiom Pro 49? Or are the keys connected (e.g. C-E-G-B)?

    I got a used Axiom pro 61 with unresponsive pads. Only 1 pad works and the others are completely dead. I opened it up and saw no oxidation, but just a little tear on the strip that connects to the circuit board. Is there a fix?

    Hey, every other video about fixing an axiom involves popping of the individual keys,. Did you have much of a problem getting this back together after cleaning the contacts? Thanks

    • @adrianrobison
      @adrianrobison  5 років тому

      John Stanford yes, I popped off all the keys and cleaned the whole thing. Other than being time consuming, it’s not a bid deal at all and is super easy to do. I only take off a few keys on this video because I didn’t wanna bore everyone with the entire process...

    • @adrianrobison
      @adrianrobison  5 років тому

      @@MediaMusik777 It's a spring so you want to pull upward to "stretch" the spring and then outward to release it. Try it! It's not scary or hard to do... just make sure you are using needle nose pliers!!!
