Last Saturday it looked like the Ducks bought into their own hype and not reality, they looked like they were shocked that Idaho did not buy that hype too. If they don't improve the O-line play they won't stand a chance against big-time players in the Big 10.
I have a friend who over heard Ferguson talking to his agent at a restaurant and the agent said he needed to stop partying if he wanted to get drafted😅 them boys party for sure but they better sharpen up
The first "Ducks vs Them" dropped yesterday. Listen to Lanning's post-game speech, you know he laid into them (even if it didn't make the cut in the film) because you can see the disappointment and embarrassment on the player's faces and hear it in their responses. He told them what they needed to hear and I'm sure it struck a nerve.
Frankly I'm glad they left this win with their heads hanging low and I think a lot of people including myself are hoping this could be the spark, of reality. The proverbial wake up call, maybe? We will know a lot more after Boise. Of course there's no such hope for 'pundits' but I do hope from here on players aren't tempted into stupidity and actually watch if you know what I mean 😉
How about against the B1G? 24 points against an FCS team… good luck against Michigan, OSU, Penn State, Nebraska, Wisconsin, any team with a defense. Fuck y’all would’ve lost to Rutgers last Saturday…
Too much to say "if they turn their season around Spencer" - IF we were FSU and 0 - 2 I agree. The way you win the games early does not matter as long as team keeps improving and WINS in BIG 10 play. Jay Harris was expected to pay a key role in the running game. Does anyone know why he did not play????? We need a L Blount time bruiser!
Hey Spencer, glad to have the season back and week 1 in the books. Outside of Tez and Bassa who are the vocal leaders on the team? Beyond the play I felt a leadership presence is still growing in this group. Who are the guys to step up and be leaders? #MailBag
What I saw is an Idaho team that was hyped. That was flying around and being physical. I saw an Oregon team that came out dead. They were not flying around, not matching Idahos energy level or intensity. I didnt see real intensity from Oregon till about two minutes to go. With a longer season this year, it seemed to me that there is some load management going on with some players. Several of them got hurt early because they were not matching Idahos physicality. They definitely took off reps. Could be exhaustion. They practice hard and its been hot in Eugene the last week. Something affected their energy levels. None of them but Tez looked like they were putting forth 100% effort. It just looked like they were trying to coast through this game and it backed fire. That is just my observation. Maybe next game with see much higher entensity and focus.
Idaho is a good FCS team. This was the game of the year for Idaho and Oregon thought they were a pushover. FCS teams are not always an easy win for any team. It happens every year. This is the game of the year for Boise State as well. Oregon better be prepared.
Let them dance to the shout song!! Anyone notice they had their highest scoring quarter after that? 50K+ people singing and dancing to that song is electrifying, I don't think anyone needs to "earn" the right to dance along to a song that we're so well known for.
Gabriels air yards per completion were 4.2 yards. That is pathetic anyway you slice it. That being said the O line has alot to do with that. If the O line gets right and Gabriel still isn't pushing the ball down the field, it's a QB issue.

Beating South Florida on the road 17-3 isn’t the same as winning 24-14 against a FCS team at home. Im concerned because a lot of these issues could’ve been fixed at halftime and nothing changed, I’m resetting my expectations accordingly. This team sadly reminds me of the 2016 team from what I saw Saturday…entitled, cocky, and soft. Where’s the physicality? It’s slowly declined the last few seasons
Shout out to your comparison to the 2021 Fresno State game. I couldn’t be at the game, but, listened to it on radio. Felt during the game that it was a lot like that FSU game. Even to having unknown QBs having a good game. That year, a week later the Ducks beat Ohio State in their own stadium. Didn’t lose again except to Utah. Twice!
dillion has to be willing to run so many times last game he could’ve easily got 5-6 yards instead incomplete. simple things like that can separate a win from a loss
I think the dancing to 'Shout" was partly because it's expected of them and partly because they wanted to spark the team to pick things up. I would not fault them for that. Way too many other concerns to address.
I feel bad for saying it but witthington is a concern, he has a lot of potential but when you have a dude that is the same size as Derik Henry and moves well he needs a few touches
Ask Spencer: Should we be concerned about mental toughness and the level of investment the players had with being a “social media” team as I have seen other people call the ducks since having mic’d up players for the That Team out West series. I loved those videos and will still devour anything the social media team does. But is it appropriate to have players involved and not just coaches or staff?
I think what happened was they took Idaho for granted. They took them for granted and also had a bad game. Ducks are lucky the won!! I hope they got yelled at big time. I hope they got the message.
I’m wondering if the game plan was intentionally vanilla and the plan was to rotate through guys like a pre season nfl game and Idaho put up more of a fight than intended. Also seemed like the turf monster had it out for the ducks in terms of slips and stumbles and I wonder if that had anything to do with their new cleats. Whatever it was it seemed to be a bigger issue for the ducks than the vandals.
I'm a little optimistic. Ohio State has had several years where they start the season with either a loss or close loss and end the season a title contender. Hopefully that is the case, or this will be an epic fail of hype vs actual results. I had hoped to see the team dance to "Shout" because up until that point, they looked like they needed SOMETHING to wake the f^ up
Hey Spencer, do you think Matthew Bedford will play against Boise State? Dan Lanning said he was optimistic he was gonna play. When should we really expect him to play and what does the O-line need to do to win comfortably against Boise State without him? Appreciate your time sco ducks!
I don’t think it’s a swift kick, I think it’s a close call, and people learn from close calls all the time. Like almost getting into a wreck because you checked a text. The close call lets you understand the issue, because you feel lucky, since the horrible thing almost happened, and because you now understand what you should do, and what you shouldn’t do, you change the behavior that caused the issue in the first place. That is why this is a good thing, and they have an opportunity to not make the same mistakes again. And that goes for the coaching staff as well, since they used a vanilla game-plan to save stuff for down the road. And the other way it will open their eyes. They say they don’t care what people think, but some of those people will decide if you make the playoffs. Just ask Florida State if they don’t care what people think. So we get a two, for one. We get the close call epiphany, and the reverse rat poison, that is positive for growth. Anyone that has played a team sport, like basketball, baseball or football, understands these powerful motivators.
I do honestly believe Saturdays shit play is a good thing in the long run. It's a wake up call. They went in against Idaho not respecting them and paid for it. That distraught look on the ducks face in the 3rd can be used to motivate. They need to be fired up against Boise
I re-watched the game and although not great, the fear and loathing is an over-reaction. Four plays (Strip sack, failed 4th & 1, failed fake punt, and Gabriel missing Stewart in the end zone) could have easily flipped to 28 additional points. Also, the defense was more dominant than Idaho's 14 points indicates. 52-7 was not that far away. I know little things matter, and that has to change going ahead -- but the talent is what we expected and capable of what Oregon fans hope for. Gabriel needs to toughen up, run a bit, and be willing to take a hit looking for a deep receiver. Gabriel looked afraid.
After watching week 1 of the season, I’m starting to think EA College football 25 is one of the most realistic games ever created. Everyone’s pass rush is God tear when the CPU is playing.
Also Bo had more of a multi use in the offense, whether for pass or so run. Dylan is way more singular in their use. From my here watching. Options galore for Bo. Dylan I can much easier guess what you all are doing. It is not hard. If you all are going to go with that? 😢😢😢Your season is over.
