A lot of younger fans wont realize that Rich Gaspari was the freakiest bodybuilder of his era! Rich set new standards for density - packing more muscle on a short frame than we'd ever seen. Also, he took conditioning to a whole new level, becoming the first to display ripped glutes. Had it not been for Lee Haney, Gaspari would have been a multiple Olympia winner.
Machines or not have NOTHING TO DO with it. It is the drugs and man more are dying now vs then. THAT IS A FACT! As far as machines go resistance is resistance. Machines to offer a safer arc of travel movement for resistance training as you can not deviate from that arc of movement easily. The negative is Machines sometimes do not fit all body parts exactly and you are forced and in a sense, dictated by the machine on how you perform the exercise. Free weights offer pros and cons too. Free weights offer a free range of movement for the arc of motion of the human body. They also offer recruitment of more stabilizer muscles to help control the movement. The negative of free weights are they can be more dangerous. Proper form has to be forced much more, with free weights as well as the need for assistance with certain exercises, especially when a barbell is being utilized. So both free weights and machines, cables etc all have positives and negatives. The bottom line resistance is resistance.
Biggest mistake made is size isnt dependent on amount or volume of training but by the amount of foods and nutrients and enzymes in absorption of so called nutrients especially when training with no peds
Rich Gaspari mentions modern bodybuilders not training super heavy for their chest exercises, due to potential pec tears. The other problem with training super heavy for your chest, is that it can wear out your rotator cuffs. I had to give up the bench press because my rotator cuffs cannot handle pressing weight from that angle anymore.
Yates mightve gotten more rest then gaspari, but their training inside the gym in terms of volume per workout was very similar. 3-5 feeder sets with one real working set. Yates would do forced reps, gaspari, drop sets. I feel likenif you compared training logs, their workouts would look extremely similar.
So basically Rich trained similarly to Dorian with 3 or 4 sets on a main move with the final set being a failure set with intensity techniques eg drop sets. Probably the super sets were closer to contest time.
He didnt train at all like Dorian. He says he did 30 sets per body-part. Dorian would do 2-3 warm up sets, then 1 or 2 sets to total failure, so 5 sets max.
Few people can work like Rich did, great personality too. Robbie bad mouthed his fans for not paying for his medical bills, while being iresponsible and not carrying health insurance. Lost a lot of credibility.
Strange comment from Robbie when Joe used Robbie as the model for his own logo and statue with his head on Robbie's body, also surprised that rich didn't reference Lee.
💪 ! Ha oui ! Comment vas Cory 😉 !
Rich is one of the guys that I initially look up to you and learn from when it comes to lifting. I trained 3 x a day. ,06 , 1500 and around 1900. Calisthenics and cardio x 2, then gym time at night. I didn't know any better and I obviously stop growing. But I was ripped. Also my nutrition was complete s*** garbage and protein that's it LOL
I believe Robby's telling the truth about what happened but feel Weider was doing what he felt was best for his business. Its in the same vein as Bob Paris saying he should have won the Olympia twice but lost because of his openly expressed s3xual orientation. Or Pastel being too short or Mentzer due to not being signed to Weider like Zane or Arnold was. It is what it is.
If Joe was really a racist I doubt that he will let his Golden Boy Ferrigno be beaten by Robbie for the Masters Mr. Olympia title. Ultimately I think Joe was just trying to make the most money he could, and Robbie was a little scary looking, so Joe wouldn't have sold as many magazines if he had put him on covers.
Shawn ray, Flex Wheeler, Dexter Jackson, Paul Dillet, they were all on stage didn't seem have any type of racism towards them,, Joe treated everyone equally
Comparing the 1990s to the 1960s and 1970s is COMPLETELY different. In addition to Robby both Oliva and Nubret had negative things to say about Weider's ethics, in particular rigged contests, shorting of payments, blocking, etc. I think the first Black signed to Weider's stable was Haney in the 1980s.
Make no mistakes. The Weiders had their favorites. The first black man they took a liking to was Lee Haney. The others before him were used to prop up and propel their golden boys.
There was a time where people like Robby or Sergio couldn't even sit in a restaurant. Why do you think that Martin Luther King was marching? Mohamed Ali got kicked out of a restaurant right after he won a gold medal at the olympic games. Why try to denied the truth? Segregation was not a fiction thing.
I do 5 heavy sets. Then drop weight to failure. Around 20 sets total after lowering the weight by 5-10lbs at a time. Pretty much like rich described. Around 3-5 hours at the gym. I do full body. I don't do just upper or lower. People are to lazy.
How the hell does Rich Gaspari managed to look this good at his age!? 80s Gen bodybuilder looking younger than the 90s and 00s Gen guys in interviews. It's funny because he was always the guy reckoned to be maxing out on gear more than most... Always an intelligent and dialled in bodybuilder though, I reckon nutritional knowledge goes a long way.
Robbie Robertson really seems like the ultimate crybaby con artist. Always mixed up in some nonsense ripping people off. Crying racism is usually the final stop for people of his behavior. Also his training methods seem really silly and needlessly complicated.
You do realize racism is alive and kicking even today, and Robby Robinson's pro debut was in 1975, a mere 11 years after the Civil Rights Act. Or do you believe the effect of hundreds of years of slavery, Jim Crow and segregation disappeared instantaneously when JFK signed the Act?
@@ehariharan9320 would have been hard for JFK to sign the civil rights act of 1964 seeing as he was dead.
