  • In this video we profile Nick Tilsen, a citizen of the Oglala Lakota Nation, who was arrested at Standing Rock for protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline. Nick talks about what inspired him to return to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota - the poorest county in the US - and the 10-year, $60 million development project the organization he founded is building there from the ground up.
This film is part of our "Making Change" series, which features inspiring activists who are stepping up to challenges in their own communities and making a difference. See more here: billmoyers.com/tag/making-change

Thank you for sharing this. One of these days the Native Nations will go to the U.N. and make their case before the world. People like Mr. Tilsen can show us all much about living right and about community.

This video is absolutely awesome! I have assisted two organizations and a few schools over the last 12 years with school supplies, gently worn winter coats and sweaters, library books, new coats for classrooms, and so on. I love the Ogala Lakota Nation. I love the culture and pride of the people. I am part Cherokee and, of course, we have our own heroes. But, there is just something about the Ogala Lakota that shows anyone who visits that they are proud of their ancestors. I just wish that I could help them more!!
