Gangster is just a euphemism for "cheater". They only exist by depending on the majority of people in society following the rules and then by cheating the rules of a healthy society they can profit. All gangsters are essentially weasels and cowards because of this. They don't possess the strength or capability to have success without cheating. They cheat their families, they cheat each other, they cheat themselves. Some never get caught cheating through life but many do. Basically a gangster is a rat by definition because they are betraying all law abiding citizens of society - and what is a rat if not a betrayer?

Just like with Sammy the Bull Gravano, this is an excellent sit-down-and-talk, not an interview where most interviewers want to drive the show. Your format of letting your guests tell their own stories without interruption or interrogation is exemplary and highly commendable. It is revolutionary and so refreshing. Queries, questions can come much later in cross-examinations if necessary. This sit-down might be the one Sammy the Bull referred to when he said you told him your guest was initially stiff but relaxed and was more comfortable when he realized he could smoke .
