The first time I've ever heard someone from the inside talk of how it really was to be a killer. It's never easy and it sticks with you, movies make you think it's just as easy as putting on a shirt with no PTSD behind it. Love his honesty "Before the war I wasn't a killer but during the war if you want to call me a hitman then so be it they were trying to hit me"
I actually understand that part because if someone's trying to hit me I'm going to try to hit them first before they can even get close to me so yeah I agree call me a Hitman also because I would have killed all those guys first before they even thought about getting close to killing me just my opinion of course.
That's pretty consistent with all these guys in that life. They know they could get killed on any given day. The capos tell you to do something you do it, or pay the price.
For whatever reason there are so many sub cultures. Larry was draw to this one. Personally, my parents were so screwed up, screwed up behavior seemed normal enough to me. It took me a very long time to understand the people I was involved with at one time were not nice people at all. At the time it all just seemed so normal. It often seems to work that way. Plus I was not exactly a poster boy for what every kid should be myself. I had a major temper. That major temper doesn't fit in a lot of places. You go to a group of people where you fit in. It's just the way it works. But I was lucky and things eventually worked out for me.
You obviously didn't pay close attention. He didn't say he had PTSD from killing people and he killed people before the war.
