Love this story, loved the film and how nice to see former Bognor Regis Town FC (my hometown team) winger Dave Thomas. I'm now living in Paisley, Scotland, and a couple of years ago I was driving up the east coast on my way home when I stopped for a break and decided to see what was in the area. Saw West Auckland was not too far away and headed on over to see if maybe the club was open and a chance to see the trophy. The club wasn't open and I got a pic standing at the gates and had a look through at a very nice looking ground. Then noticed the statue when I was driving out and got a few pics of that too. One day, maybe , I'll get to see that trophy (or the replica, what a shame it was nicked). I now follow WAFC on twitter.
Fantastic! A story that should be told over and over. I am proud to be from West Auckland, saw that cup many times and go back whenever I can. I've lived down south since 1983 and my friends joke at how many times I recount this story without prompting, some people have heard of it, most have not. All are astounded when i tell it and maybe only half believe it. Brilliant to see the story recounted here and I hope it gets shared far and wide. Those miners were unassuming, humble but absolute hero's. A story to be proud of. Thanks for sharing.

That's it for me, I might as well give up with filmmaking and try something else.
