Very cool 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 2-Door Fastback Police Interceptor, believed to be 1 of just 42 built with this powertrain combination. With its rare powertrain, great color combo, and overall rarity, this Galaxie 500 Police Interceptor is an interesting, collectible classic Ford that looks to be in fine condition and ready to enjoy.
The interior shows well and is in very good condition throughout featuring its original Sun dash-mounted tachometer, AM Radio, heater, and clock. The upholstery, door panels, cards, rugs, and headliner look great and the car is very comfortable. I suspect that some if not most of the interior was refreshed at some point given the overall, very nice condition.
The exterior shows well and is truly rust-free. The car was re-painted in its original Silver Smoke Gray and is straight and tidy. The trim, glass, and lenses are in good order and the overall exterior is quite nice. I went around with a weak magnet and it grabs all of the lower sections of the car with ease suggesting little or no filler at all. The undercarriage, inner rockers, and the rest are rust/damage free as well suggesting the mileage could be original. It rides on its stock rims with an older set of 235/70R15's both front and rear.
The matching number 300hp 390ci big-block “Thunderbird Special” P-Code starts and runs strong with plenty of power and no unpleasant noises or smoke. The condition of the engine compartment suggests it was carefully maintained and cared for and everything looks to be in good order. The handling, braking, and suspension are responsive and tight. The clutch is wearing and there is some chatter, otherwise, this is an excellent running and driving car. It has a newer fuel tank and exhaust system which sounds great.
Purchased new at BJ Motors in Roxboro, North Carolina on July 25th of 1964, this rare example is well preserved and is finished in Silver Smoke Gray with a black interior, has its matching numbers 300hp 390ci big-block "Thunderbird Special" P-Code Police Interceptor Package and 4-speed manual transmission as delivered new. It shows 68,962 miles, though we do not know if these are original. I am currently trying to locate previous owners to find out more about this special Galaxie and if successful will update accordingly.

I owned one a few years ago. Wish i had kept it too. Mine looked exactly like this one. It had a Borg Warner T-10 Top loader four speed, etc... but mine had a 430 Mercury engine installed. Beautiful red bucket seat interior with brushed aluminum seat backs, big speaker in the back seat back, and the coolest dashboard i have ever seen. It also came with fender skirts. Man i miss it! Thanks for the video.
My dad bought this car for me. For graduation present. Same car. Dad threw me the keys and said keep it under 100. 1973. I had dual thrush mufflers and it sounded great.
MY BUDDY HAD ONE BACK IN THE 197O'S. AQUA BLUE, 427 DUAL QUAD SET UP.... THE CAR WAS ORIGINAL PAINT AND INTERIOR WAS TOTALLY TOTALLY MINT AND ORIGINAL... THE ENTIRE CAR KNOWING PAUL ZENT.... HAVEN'T SEEN HIM OR THE CAR IN YRS. BUT I BET HE STILL HAS IT.... HE ALWAYS SAID I WILL NEVER EVER GET RID OF THIS CAR. AND TO ME AND A LOT OF FORD GUYS ALWAYS SAID,THAT MODEL CAR THE 63 AND 64 GALAXIE 39O, 427 EVEN 289 IN 66, 67 THOSE GALAXIES ARE THE BEST LOOKING CARS THAT EVER CAME OFF ANY LINE. MY FAVORITE 😅 CAR OF ALL TIME. ACTUALLY DANNY KOKER FROM KOUNTS KUSTOMS SAID ONE TIME ON HIS TV SHOW, WHEN HE RESTORED A 64, WITH A 429 WHITE WITH THE THUNDERBOLT HOOD... HE SAID THAT THE,THE BODY STYLE IS THE JIMI HENDRIX OF CARS... AND NO ONE EVER SAID IT BETTER... I HOPE DANNY SEES THIS. HE WILL DEFINITELY REMEMBER..... AND I SAY NO MORE......
Sweet looking '64 Galaxie!!
😢😢 i had one just like that. it did 100 in a 1/4 mile. i liked the bench seat w a four speed.
Nice 1964 Ford galixie police intercepter model thanks for sharing nice car Nathaniel
FYI, the PI 390 is actually 330 horsepower. It’s the regular Z code 390 that has 300 horsepower
Great video very interesting and also like to call and everything about it
My father had a state troper 64 custom with the 390
Dope! WOOOO!
My father had a 64 state troper with the 390 thunderbird
I owned a 64 Gal 406 3 2s 4sp I loved this car I want it really bad?
I would have turned the tires out with the raised white letters showing.
Did the buyer keep this car in Cali, and what was the sale price?
That car really needs a longer shift lever with the correct bends. That leaning way forward for third is just wrong. I wonder what rear end gear it has, probably 3.25.
That's OK. Where you're going, you don't need a horn.
What is the asking price?
Thanks for asking - updated prices for our current cars for sale can be found here: www.leftcoastclassics.com/LCCofferings.html Feel free to give me a call anytime with questions.
Actual PI cars were sedans, not hardtops.
The police interceptor 390 engine option could be had in any body style except wagon in 63,64,65 and early 66
@@normanjones5167 FYI, the 390 "P" engine could be bought in a wagon as well. I had one in a Country Squire wagon. However, the total police package was in sedans only. I had a police package in a custom 2 dr sedan that was a former state police car. The Ford dealership I worked at, sold and serviced my state's police vehicles. We had all the service records for those cars. The one I bought had an engine replaced a few weeks before it was traded in. BTW, I worked at that Ford dealership for 40 years as a master level factory certified auto/truck tech.
Saw the drivers window in that video you put it all the way up and are still a open Space is the back window down some what
Must be.
