    I actually kind of like it. I think with different jewelry it’ll sit in the perfect spot. I like when you can just see the balls instead of the whole ring.

  • @SwitchbladeMinis
    @SwitchbladeMinis Рік тому +16

    That’s a 16 gauge which is standard the gauge is not what you’re worried about. The size of the ring looks to be a 3/8 you probably need a 5/8

    There is nothing wrong with it. If it was to high it would have Hurt like hell. If it was to low it would Hurt like hell. The sweetspot isnt that big, and yours was right there. Then its perfectly made. Just get a bigger diameter and all is fine

    I asked for mine to be easy to hide and so it's at that sweet spot in my nose anatomy, so the balls can be seen when down, but once I turn it up, no one can tell at all, even when they are reeeaaallly up close. And I don't even feel it there.

    It’s not too high. Probably was your sweet spot for the piercing. If anything get longer jewelry. Prob a 12mm because that may be a 10mm in your septum.

    Could you take it out at the piercing studio and they can measure and tell you the thickness?
    Or you vould ask the piercer what gauge they pierce with

    Its supposed to be high up. There's a little pocket of membrane up there between the cartilage called "the sweet spot." Anywhere else is bad placement. The jewelry was just way too small, especially for healing.

    • @najeej
      @najeej 9 місяців тому

      lol I don’t feel so worried about mine then since you explained it. I had to get mine re-pierced because it was too low and it would not heal. Now I have it I the right placement I hope and it’s healing up nicely

    • @mydogeatspuke
      @mydogeatspuke 9 місяців тому +1

      @@najeej the placement wouldn't stop it from healing, lots of people have managed to heal incredibly poorly placed piercings. It's just cartilage, like your ears, so it would have healed, although it wouldn't have looked very good once it had. The wrong kind of jewelry, either in shape, size or material can cause irritation that delays healing, but even then it's not impossible. Placement matters because of how it looks, not because it won't heal.

      Okay but hear me out, my first septum piercing was in the “sweet spot” when the clamp was removed it felt super tight but I expected that, fast forward 2 weeks and the swelling had gone and healing seemed to be taking a really long time to improve but I thought it was all good, I knew these kind of piercings could be fussy, except the bar was being forced upwards against my cartilage by the flesh beneath the piercing. Eventually I had to remove it because it stopped healing and was super painful. Had it repierced 5 years later much lower and it healed up in about 9 days. For an idea where mine is now, a 6mm, 1.2 ring sits comfortably in there with probably .5mm clearance and is my usual jewellery, sometimes I wear a 6mm, 1.6 ball closure but the ball brushes against my nose. So in my opinion I think a ‘right place’ argument isn’t a one size fits all but she also should just swap to a U bar 💁🏼‍♀️

    • @mydogeatspuke
      @mydogeatspuke 9 місяців тому

      @@asunachidory bunch of nonsense. Septum piercings don't heal in 9 days for a start. That's not how anything works. Secondly, your jewelry was obviously too small to accommodate the swelling you experienced, although 2 weeks really isn't "a very long time" at all. I have a tiny nose and I wear an 8mm ring and it sometimes rubs on the bottom of my nose, so there's no way at all that you're wearing a 6mm and it's placed properly. None at all. I'm also pretty certain that you don't switch gauges because that's just not how stretching works either. You can't go back and forth, the smaller gauge would be loose and irritating and sit differently once you'd made the hole larger. A "right place" "argument" is in fact a one size fits all. It's basic biology, the structure of the human body.

      @@mydogeatspuke I’ve been measured and told I’d need 8mm for a snug fit. And she said my sweet spot was high up . Not sure what it all means m, regarding being high up is that a problem? If so I don’t want it .

    • @LiterallyAllNamesAreTaken
      @LiterallyAllNamesAreTaken Рік тому +5

      the correct spot is close against the tip of your nose. no such thing as too forward if its done properly. annoyingly I see it online its really common for them to be almost touching the face but that’s the complete wrong placement. and generally you shouldn’t be able to see the piercing hole when you sit straight and turn your head.

    1st time the piercer did mine high, which I liked. But after 3 years, I had to take it out for 1 week for a procedure. The hole closed!!! I got it redone, and the next person couldn't fine the scar tissue for my old one and pierced me too low😮‍💨. I wanted a peekaboo effect with mine. Didn't turn out that way the 2nd time🫤. You can get a longer one, probably 16 gauge and 8mm, so try a 10/12mm for length.

    • @mydogeatspuke
      @mydogeatspuke 11 місяців тому

      It's far more likely that you just couldn't find the hole yourself. I guarantee it was still open and you paid for a new piercing for nothing

    • @queen_j1422
      @queen_j1422 10 місяців тому

      @@mydogeatspuke so when I was re-pierced, I asked the piercer to try to find the hole. So you are saying BOTH the piercer and myself couldn't find the hole?
      I appreciate the thought, but that wasn't actually how it went. The hole closed. I heal pretty fast. As have all my past and current piercings (have healed and healing fast)🤷🏾‍♀️😁👍🏾

      @@queen_j1422 being a piercer doesn't make someone an expert lol. There wouldn't be all these piercing fail videos if that were the case. How fast you heal doesn't have anything to do with anything. When a piercing is healed, it creates a fistula. It's basically an open tube of scar tissue that will never close in on itself. It can't, because it's scar tissue. That tube stays there for the rest of your life, unless you get it dermal punched out and the resulting wound stitched up, so an old piercing you removed can always be opened up again with a taper. It needs a taper because despite there being a fistula, the hole does shrink (but never closes) when there is no jewelry in it because a piercing needle just displaces tissue rather than removes it, so when the jewelry is taken out that tissue can shift back into its natural position which can look like a hole has closed. It hasn't, it's just shrunk, and the taper starts thin and gets thicker, gently stretching it back to its original pierced size. There are some body parts, like nipples or genitals, where this is aometimes harder because of the kind of tissue or the specific placement and so it can be easier to just repierce instead, but the old fistula will always be there. A septum isn't one of those body parts that are harder to taper open, but a repierce costs significantly more money than tapering open an old piercing, so obviously a dishonest piercer is going to choose to charge you more money if they can. Your misunderstanding of how the body works doesn't change the reality lol.
