I just managed to convert a video of my grandma dancing for a slideshow I’m making for family to remember her by,she just passed away from Covid and I spent all day trying applications and online converters and nothing worked. I’m excited we can see you and remember you happy and surrounded by those that loved you gogo, not alone and in pain. Thank you so much Daniel!
This helped me a lot. Thank you! Never knew I could do this so easily. For those who lost the sound: add your files and click on convert/save. In the convert dialog box, click on the spanner button, i.e., edit selected profile, then click on the audio codec tab. Check the audio box if not checked, then click on encoding parameters. Under that, click on the codec drop down list, and click mp3 (or any other option if that didn't work). Hope that helped you!

Yes! I just found old AVI concert footage from 9 years ago on a memory card . . . . I converted it with ease after figuring out how to restore the audio from the comments. Thank you so much!!

do i still use h264 + mp3 (TS)
then change it to mp4 using the wrench button
or do i use h.265?

PLEASE HELP !! so everything works i converted it to mp4. However, when i try to play the video it says 'This file isn’t playable. That might be because the file type is unsupported, the file extension is incorrect, or the file is corrupt.' What do i do?

hi, i started making animations using krita and trying to render them using adobe media encoder. I couldn't do it at all, uninstalled everything and tried again and nothing, tried other conversion softwares, tried to convert using the windows photo program and nothing at all I spent months trying (literally, since September). thank you so much for this tutorial, you saved my life. it is too stupid to have so few methods to convert to mp4 without using a watermark, which is the format that is most accepted by the media. Anyway, thank you so much and I'm even subscribed!

I've been having a problem where it complains about overwriting stuff when it's finished. Turns out, if you have it set to loop, VLC will try to save the video again and again. You just need to turn off looping and it won't complain anymore.

i did it but the avi file that changed to mp4 doesn't play now. All my other mp4 files play so it appears to corrupt it somehow

hi, thank you for sharing this information! i see that it has worked well for others, however i am working on a mac and it wont let me open with premiere pro. it saved as an .m4v file even after selecting H.264 + MP3 (MP4), so maybe if i had used a pc it would have worked properly (?). thank you for sharing this information though, you had everyone's best interests in mind and i appreciate the time and effort it took to make this video.

this didn't work for me :( I followed it closely but the files wont play afterwards. All of my media players says that the file type is unsupported or corrupted. I don't know what I did wrong when clearly everyone else seems to have success with this

Hmm, didn't work for me..Doesn't do the playthrough. "Inupt can't be opened". The original AVI works when you play it normally. I wonder if I need to do an update or something. Otherwise, thanks for the help!

Hi, this worked for me the first time, but now it is not doing the conversion, all I get is the VLC icon but it will not actually play.
i was given an error saying there was something wrong with the avi file and the final result came out pretty badly

That is great. Another method is to use Avdshare Video Converter to convert between AVI, MP4, MOV, WMV, MPG, H.265, etc
