My thoughts behind this one are that of the scene in a film where you know that something is about to go terribly wrong, the main character knows something is about to go terribly wrong, everyone knows, and yet the main character must leave someone behind who they know is not going to survive. An elderly mentor, a parent, a close sibling, a lover, someone who will not make it out alive (except, on rare occasion, and against all odds). The main character might need to be pulled away from them crying and screaming by a travel companion who is also crying, but silently, focused more on the emotions of the main character who for once is not being berated for acting like a child because it's a situation that deserves it. They're leaving behind a piece of their world and their soul, and the rain is coming to wash them away. That same rain that will lull them to sleep because they have a long journey ahead of them, and the next day will not be an easy one as they adjust to the life on the road.
