There's just something about a guy with a castle and who gifts you a 10 story Library inside.
OMG my dream man there might be NOTHING I wouldnt do for a lifetime supply of great books😂 N O T H I N G.
Exactly.
Yea, Mr. Peanutbutter tried it and we all know how that turned out 😂
Right? 😂
Plot twist: Five years into the marriage, the beauty filed for no fault divorce and got half of the beast's assets, including the library. The beast committed suicide and she lived happily ever after. Can't wait for a woke Disney movie with this more realistic twist.
"I can fix him"
- The beauty probably
🎯
Belle never thought she could fix him.
"There's something sweet, and almost kind, but he was mean and he was course and unrefined.
But now he's dear, and so unsure. I wonder why I didn't see it there before. ...
New and a bit alarming. Who'd have ever thought that this could be. True that he's no Prince Charming, but there's something in him that I simply didn't see."
She didn't see it in him, she had no intention of fixing him. She was surprised he didn't make her live in the tower dungeon. Then, through her mere presence and a single act of compassion after he rescues her (granted he scared her out of the castle which is why she needed rescuing) he began to change himself for her.
She was with the beast as a prisoner in exchange for her father's life. Even after their relationship improved and they had the romantic evening together she was surprised that he released her from her promise so she could save her father.
This is a story of a beastly man changing himself for the better by the mere presence of a woman in his life. This is not the story of a woman taking on a project to rescue a despicable man. This is not the story of a woman falling in love with an abusive man despite his abuse. This is the story of a man who finds what has been missing in his life and makes himself worthy of her. She falls for him AFTER he has made changes. She falls in love with the improved man. She rejects the man who clearly is incapable of making changes.
AMEN. ❤
@@JonathanNelson-nelsonj3
Brilliant summary. The whole movie just flashed through my mind while I read that. Excellent job!
@@JonathanNelson-nelsonj3 And now that song is stuck in my head, but brilliant analysis!
There's just something about a man that loves you so unconditionally that he wants to better himself in order to be his best for you
Or you project this "unconditional love" to justify your saviour complex
Well they both changed for each other......EVEN I KNEW THAT...MY GRANDMA SHARED THAT...AND SHE WAS RIGHT...HE CHANGED SHE CHANGED...DUMB DUMB
*wants unconditional love, on the condition that he changes for you.* Make it make sense.
There’s also something about a woman that loves you so deeply that she can change her whole attitude about appreciating what she has.
There's a difference between changing who you are entirely and acknowledging that you have flaws that you need to work on. The "thats just the way I am mentality" is juvenile. Everyone has issues that they need to overcome.
I actually recently watched the movie. What really struck me was how moved by belles selflessness the beast was. He was shocked she was willing to take her fathers place. He was shocked at her kindness. And he even was shocked at how she wouldn’t let him mistreat her. And because of her example he wanted to be better. It’s that dynamic where someone is so beautiful in spirit (not just physically) that it moves you to also be a better person. It’s in that effort to be a good person that Belle starts to fall in love.
The beast loved belle before belle loves him. She didn’t “train” him she set the example for being a good person and it was so beautiful that the beast to wanted to be good.
very well put!
I agree with you completely. That is the beauty of the story. The humanes and power of love and compassion. Sorry Jordan, you are off on this one
At first I thought Jordan meant that Beauty was keeping a psychopath - her monster - at bay by loving him. That didn’t make sense to me. Then I realized Jordan meant that by training her monster, with love, then the monster, the beast, will be able to keep the psychopaths at bay. Because the Beast isn’t a psychopath - he’s just disagreeable and strong and doesn’t have a direction or motivation to direct his strength.
I do not think that the beast within JBP is kept entirely at bay, but he likes to teach/direct others. After all, he IS an academic.
But, honestly, is he sage?
I would think that someone with credentials as he has would have been aware of the extremely addicting nature of the benzodiazapine, 'Klonopin'. It is commonly known for that. Nevertheless, he took it and became so addicted that he needed medical
help getting off it, breaking the addiction.
I guess when someone is in enough psychological pain, sometimes they will do things that in the long run, here the addiction,
help only with symptoms,; the help is only temporary, and then the stress of the addiction breaking occurs; more psychological pain.
I wonder if in retrospect he thinks it was worth it ?
Good! 👍
Gaston is the psychopath
@@KaarinaKimdaly
He knew. He wrote his PhD thesis on addiction. He either overestimated his ability to not become addicted or decided that the benefits outweighed the risk.
When he got addicted, he could've followed his own advice and endured his suffering until it passed. Instead, he underwent a medically-induced coma in attempt to skip the suffering, and he paid for it with his reputation and his mental health.
Knowing the path but lacking the strength to walk it fits *very* well with the archetype of a sage.
However, none of that is relevant because a flaw in someone's character doesn't diminish the validity of any idea that they share just because you heard it from them, especially when it's irrelevant to the topic at hand.
It's an ad hominem, which is literally illogical.
@@KaarinaKimdalydo you think that people get addicted because they don’t know they will get addicted? Obviously not, they just can’t not stop themselves

He's right. It does take a beast to handle a psycho.

Exactly.
I hope he did not mean a psycho as his woman LOL. kinda gives a totally different meaning.
Bada-bing
He's on one thing. There are terribly frightening psychos, who can dismantle any kind of beast that lunges at them...
It's the difference between personality and character. Some people have a charming personality but terrible character, while others have a brutish personality but good character. That's the lesson of Pride and Prejudice with Mr. Darcy and Mr. Wickham.
Brutish or direct and honest?
And when you learn that world is largely run by psychopaths and sociopaths...that really makes sense.
No. Because beauty cannot keep them at bay.
And most people r followers
Wow 😕
Yup and I ended up marring a narcissistic sociopath 🤦♀️ im glad im out!!
when you learn the world is run by devil's, that means you read your bible.
The big difference here is that the monster has s good heart deep inside and he started to learn from his mistakes. He learns about gratitude and loyalty and kindness. Gaston wasn't interested in any of that. He saw belle as the ultimate trophy that will reward is "manhood". Not to mention that he didn't recognize any moral limits to get what he wanted. A true psycopath. The choice was pretty clear.😂
"Someone's got to keep the psychopaths at hay," is my favourite line from the movie.
Yall ain't keeping this psychopath at bay I'm in the middle of the nation baby
I didn't get what that lines means though🙄
@@Matdildi It's not from the movie. It's an observation about the movie and relationships.
In The Beauty and the Beast, Belle is repeatedly harassed by Gaston. If you remember, in the first act he comes into her house uninvited, puts his smelly feet on her table and starts telling her how she was going to become his wife, reading (her hobby) was pointless and that she was going to bear him 10 sons. Now, she can refuse his offer, but if he wanted to he could force her. He's at least twice her size and the town hero.
She also couldn't kick him out physically or make him stop making a mess because she had no way of overpowering him.
Then the beast comes into play and now there's someone that can keep creeps like Gaston in line.
That's basically the point. If someone big and scary is walking next to you, less people are likely to mess with you.
As an alternative, I'd recommend getting a big dog. That'd work about the same.
@@samengelage3521 got it! Thanks for your answer!

Definitely agree that the dwarves were not archetypal weak men, but it is a funny suggestion.
Jp doesn’t understand that the Snow White dwarf dynamic was to show that she was kind and humble and didn’t mind working for her living. She offered to clean their house in order to have a place to stay. It wasn’t sexual. And the dwarfs weren’t “pursuing” her.
lol, he makes such a lame analogy!
I can't believe how right he is. Men (real men) who are perfectly able to keep the psychopaths at bay, and know they are able to keep the monsters at bay are worth their weight in gold.
For me, it was the library in the castle. I would have happily lived in that room for the rest of my life. I dreamed of having a library like that since i was a kid.
After my bachelorette party (which was just me and my best friend book store/thrift store hopping where my then fiance gave me the rest of the money we saved for the money to spend on books as his wedding gift to me) i came home to find out he turned our third bedroom into a "reading nook" where he lined all the walls with book shelves and put a little bean bag chair in the middle. I came home with my arms full of books and pretty journals i planned to fill with letters to him through the years. He ran me a bath, poured me a glass of wine, sat with me while i showed him all the books i got and then led me to the room of shelves i could fill. It was the best and easily the most seen ive ever felt in my life. To this day five years later, he still get me books for part of every gift/holiday and he still sits in the room watching me rearrange and giggle over my growing collection. Our three year old daughter now has her own little bean bag chair in there and during quite time, we sit together in our chairs reading/looking at our books. Sometimes its really just knowing the person youre with sees and appreciates what you love and finds small ways to make your dreams come true. Even if/when they dont understand 🤷🏻♀️ thats what the beast did. Gaston just acted like she was crazy like everyone else and only wanted her because she was pretty and "unattainable". He wanted the chase not the person. The beast loved HER once he learned who she was. 🤷🏻♀️

Eh, what XD? Belle falls for the beast because she can laugh with him, sees his humanity and kindness and they grow together. "Trainable monster"? He's not being trained, he learns by himself. And monster... Isn't Gaston the monster in the story? He refuses to accept her no and keeps chasing her. He believes she fits him even though he ridicules her interests and tries to force her into a role she doesn't want. The beast lets her be. I read something about that Belle and the Beast recognize themselves in the other: they both don't fit in and are ostracized by the others. They understand eachother. That's why she chooses the beast.
I will never view classic Disney the same.
If anything they diluted the original messages
@@brandons1679 Worse, they pushed things like Simping and pedestalization as "normal", when dealing with women.
I used to do pantomime shows for school kids and we did Beauty and the Beast for a long while. One day the writer/director came to us and said we were dropping it because it normalised abuse or some rubbish, citing that Beauty only fell in love due to Stockholm Syndrome. I argued that it was a really unfair surface viewing of the story and it was so much deeper than that, but I was outvoted. "Problematic" came up a lot. I miss performing but man I do not miss dealing with those kinds of people every day.
Disney took most of the stories from old fairytales from Germany, Denmark etc and changed the endings to be more children friendly. The original endings are mostly quite horrible😂😂😂
@@truffaut650truffaut6 The endings reflected reality and best conveyed the principle they were trying to communicate. I think children would have been much better off learning the original endings
Well another way to look at it is the beast was potentially beauiful on the inside but certainly powerful on the outside, where Gaston was certainly ugly on the inside and outside (not looks outside character). If anything, his character seems designed to flatter developing women that they'll find it easy to recognize and eliminate the Gastons of the world. How well that's going, well, you be the judge.
Those darned feminists, they are responsible
for all the evil in the world, they and their evil agendas.
If I were you I'd ask Dr. Seyyed Hossein Nasr of now if still George Washington University about that. No comment.
he can protect me wich is caring!
The beast was also a psychopath! He went ballistic when people trespassed his castle, he kept Belle’s father in his dungeon when he tried to get a rose for her off his property. And then he also went ballistic when Belle entered forbidden parts of the castle.
Can't blame him for being upset at going to the forbidden spot. It's his castle. He asks her to stay out of his bedroom basically. He over reacted, but I would be mad if someone went into my bedroom when I told them not to. He at least has the decency to knock on her door rather than go into her bedroom uninvited.
She wants the monster because he has a castle.
Many beautiful women are also extremely cruel.
It's because these women haven't matured past the age of 17 so they really are just essential sociopaths.
Except Belle wasn't so that's irrelevant here
In the Snow White tale there is Maleficent. She is fairer (more beautiful) than all others - except Snow White.
So the queen is the one showing beauty alone is not enough. Aka the point you’re making. It’s in the story too
The cruelest women in history were certainly not beautiful. Look them up
@@SilverGreenEyes18Belle was delusional obsessed with books contemptuous of the townsfolk around her.
No woman should want a weak man or a narcissist. Women want the alpha.
I love when he breaks down archetypes in (Disney) movies.
But once she fixes him, she loses respect and ends up leaving
No real self respecting man would let a girl “fix” him anyway.
Beast then pays alimony
@@Lovebomb-pu7ji Confident (and loving) men and women don't come up with defensive plans to destabilise their partner. The kind of plan you're suggesting doesn't come from strength but from a fragile and weakened position. Also women who have high self esteem and value integrity in men won't be interested in this kind of game - which just sounds boring and exhausting. On the other hand though, insecure, needy, women (who might also be the type to look for validation elsewhere if it's not provided) might fall for it. On the whole this kind of plan has all the ingredients for a really miserable relationship - for the sad and fragile man that lacks integrity and for the insecure women who has to put up with these kinds of shortcomings.

If he becomes her slave, yes. Trainable monster does NOT mean turn the beast into a dwarf.
Beauty and the beast was seemed pretty obviously about evil wretched people can be beautiful men and people that are helpful and valuable can be blatantly hideous. It could also be a story about a woman fulfilling her bizarre sexual desires lol.
He said motif, which means a "dominant or recurring idea in an artistic work." It's not the moral of the story; it's just a recurring idea in the book that most women prefer to tame a beast rather than be stuck with a dwarf.
@@warmchin8390 Too many Icaruses (sic?)

peterson is awesome
Ain't he just awesome, though? He's an
awesome possum blossom!
What a man!
I want a poster of that piece of art he showed once that some fan of his had sent him, where JBP is portrayed as a religious icon.
Very cool.
I bet if he made posters of that available, they would 'sell like hotcakes', maybe even outsell the famous Farrah Fawcett poster.
I would consider buying one and posting it on the wall as a central feature of my personal
chapel.
I always saw Beauty and the Beast as being able to look beyond the external facade and onto one's heart, and that it's that pure heart that matters.
modern woman wants the bad boy she can train with her magic Vajayjay. But it doesnt work that way. so she just keeps going after gaston after Gaston and then says why are all men such jerks.
And when she is past her prime she marries a dwarf. He is not what she wanted but he gives her the relationship she is after.

You can't train the monster b/c its within...
Wow you're such an intellect!
Are you saying you cannot control your own animalistic impulses?
Because you can, and you should.
One for seed and another for feed.
Breed with independent. Feed off codependent.
The narcissism they're struggling with, is indeed within.
You can't turn an independent man into a codependent man overnight.
You have to put in the work, and on top of that, you can't expect him to completely waive his independence/authority and become a domesticated doormat.
They're their own worst enemy. (Their fragile overinflated [narcissistic] ego's)
I must not fear. Fear is the mind killer...
Best Jordan Peterson ever!
I like the way he says Gastone 😂
Beauty has Stockholm syndrome
lol That's what I said, and I got called a "dwarf" for it!!!🤣🤣🤣
People are small, insecure, and lack senses of humor...🤷♂
Dont talk shit about the dwarves. Theyre just living their life. She came into their life. She took advantage of them. Dont get this twisted.
Are you hurt?
...she did clean their house and do their laundry...
we got a dwarf yall!
Pretty sure Grimm's version is way more adult-y than you think. Dwarves had their fun too, or something.
@@andrewyp6724 didn't need to know that. Jesus.
Dwarves in Snow White are dwarves from being in mines since childhood.
JP ain't Neva lie 👑💯
Jordan is clueless about gender dynamics in modern society. Just look at his own daughter
That's faulty logic. If children were entitled to be just like their parents, then no religious parents would have atheist children, and no atheist families would have children who convert to a religion.
