Our concept of beauty is so distorted bc of filters....we laugh at the girls & women who make themselves into literal different people but it only makes sense for people to feel the need to use them because they are used on every image we see. From shopping for clothes on Shein to Instagram influencers/models...every depiction of what a person should look like is heavily filtered. We see these images so often throughout our day that we aren't even conscious of it anymore and it has clearly had devastating effects on people's self esteem, especially young girls and women. Everyone wants to be beautiful. If we think beauty is what we see all day on social media, advertisements etc...then it's impossible to attain naturally no matter how beautiful you are.

I'm gonna go ahead and assume you're under 40 😅 i don't get anything done, but i don't really care about my looks and never was one for makeup or anything. I us weed to say the same thing, but it truly is alarming to watch yourself grow old. Its as if you're watching your body dir and decay. Id wager women who do this less care about looks and more want to deny their own mortality, which is understandable. I mean, who wants a reminder every time you look in the mirror that your time is almost up? It's hard to swallow. And no matter how used to being older you get, you truly get that little jumpscare she did every single time you look in the mirror. Every time. Looking in the reflection and seeing someone you don't recognize never gets easier. You never get used to it. In your head, you forever see yourself in your 20s or 30s. Anyway.. you'll see what i mean. We all do eventually. I don't begrudge anyone who has a hard time dealing with it.

No matter how much makeup you put on, you'll always be beautiful.

If just existing makes you beautiful than being beautiful has no more beauty than being alive. The reason people value beauty is because it’s an objective quality you can literally study the mathematics of the geometry of peoples features and find what is most aesthetically pleasing to most men or women, However some people find certain types of people attractive for their unique look so it isn’t absolutely universal (the problem is that people with these features usually don’t like people who fetishize them).
People struggling with mental health issues don’t need to be encouraged to be more out of touch with reality. They need to see that beauty is not the only important thing in life, they aren’t any less valueable or loveable, otherwise your setting them up to be ridiculed because they are operating on delusions “nice” peoples lies teach them. It’s not nice to confuse people.
Too often these days people are told that they are beautiful just they way they are and waste years not taking care of themselves because they listen to lies, they end up being alone and miserable when they could literally just go to the gym and work on hygiene.
Maybe being a good and kind person she simply be recognized as meaningful and valuable instead of making how you look the only standard of value. Just because you aren’t objectively beautiful doesn’t mean you are not loveable and worthy of respect. Valuing yourself for your spirit and actions instead of just surface looks is what is needed. Not, encouraging them to continue to obsess over beauty which is always temporary and is something most people only have for a short time.
Stop reducing people to beauty and acknowledge that being kind and loving are far more important than how you look and you can steer people away from being stuck on beauty in the first place. Lying harms so many people, and when they realize they have been lied to when they finally learn the truth nothing makes a person for more wronged by others outside of what is objectively criminal.
