- In this video, I go over how to add and subtract with significant figures. When adding or subtracting with significant figures the important thing is how many decimal places there are in the numbers being added. The final answer will have the least number of decimal places.

Thank you so much. You're the first person to include an example with a number that has no decimal places.
EXACTLYYYYYYYYYYY
Righttttt???? Like I had no idea how it works w them cuz they always give weird answers if we just take no decimals
Hope the video helped. Check out my video on how to calculate significant figures on the TI-84 Plus CE: ua-cam.com/video/Y7Qi955W1T4/v-deo.html

@@user-my5jv2ei7g I am really happy to help! Best of luck!
Thanks it was helpful for my modules and wishing good luck to your channel
Glad it helped. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much . God bless u . Vidoe is very helpful
:)
thank you!
Thank you so muchh this is so helpful, you explain really well. :)
I do have some questions, so when you subtract/added in problem 2. 23 - 16.4 + 22.0 can you explain how you got 28? Because when I did the math I first did 23 - 16.4 which gave me 6.6, then I added 6.6 to 22.0 which gave me 28.6 and since 6 is more than 5 I thought it the answer was 29
That's actually a good catch. I am sorry. The calculation should be 28.6. I didn't notice I made that mistake earlier. However, the end answer will still be 29 since 23 does not have any decimal places. Thanks for your comment.
Thanks
Ohh good
Hmm
Hmm
Number 2 in the 2nd half I’m doing the problem in th calculator and I’m not getting 29.4? How did you get that answer.
3.56 + 0.021 what will the answer of this?
Good!👌
Thank you this made it so much clearer for me. However, when I convert -22F to Kelvin, using the mathematical operations and equations, I get 243, using this model/technique. But the answer key says 243.2K. I'm so confused

Thankyou
Yes it was helpful
😊
Glad to hear that!
@@EHbhuiyanTHANKS FOR HELPING IT HELPED ME LOT 👌👌👍🙏🎉
@@chethanapoojary7584 Happy to help!
Same number of decimal please please.
If it’s a number like 220 do you round to the tens?
Yes. Let's say, for example, that you were looking for the answer to 220+15.93. The answer in terms of significant figures would be 240.
It didn't help my case: How do I find the number of sig figs when I add/subtract two irrational numbers if there are no end in decimal values? Like 1/3 - 5/3
Fractions are exact numbers. So you would consider other numbers that you would be either adding or subtracting to the fraction. If it's just two fractions, your answer should be in fraction as well, and the answer would be exact.
@@EHbhuiyan What if it's in the context of (3.333)^-1 minus (446.1)^-1 in a problem instead of their fractioned counterpart of 1/3.333 minus 1/446.1,when it is expected for an answer to have only a few sig figs?
@@Lexyvil Keep in mind that a fraction bar can also mean division. So apply the rule for multiplication/division with significant figures, taking 1 to be an exact number, when finding the reciprocal. I hope this helps.
@@EHbhuiyan It does! Didn't think of applying that rule, thanks.
@@Lexyvil Awesome!
Good
I think you forgot to put 0 and carry 1 on "23" at number 2
