Hey man, we hear you. Anti-cheat is coming. However I must re-iterate what you showed in the video, I absolutely do not think EAC will have the impact people think it will. Games like Squad are cheat free because of the community servers, not because of EAC. Squad didn't even have an official anti-cheat system until 2017. I have to really remind everyone that most of your favorite games are not cheater free because of the anti-cheat software. I know most people don't see or understand that, but it is the truth. Operation: Harsh Doorstop will have the exact same evolution that those games went through to get to where they are (cheater free wise) now.

I like ohd a lot, especially the f you to this bullshit they sell us as AAA games now. I have faith modders will create a anti cheat of sorts. Where it took the player stats into account and at some point the headshot ratio for certain guns or k/d became statistically impossible. That was secondary to the primary pb but a good system.

BlueDrake forgot that what drives people to mod the hell out of games is great base game experience - something this game lacks right now. Not only that, it lacks a proper direction - I know Blue wants it to be a "Wikipedia of gaming", but if that's the case, why would he prioritize adding bleedout system, stamina and bandaging when some of the most basic features like audio, performance and movement system are still below expectations? If I was in BlueDrake's place, I'd use Insurgency Source as the template for what base game should feel like - no "all theaters of war" bullshit. Those can be added later down the road. Same case with playercount - why implementing 64+ servers, if you know it tanks performance even on some really good gaming rigs for some reason? For me, the base game at this point in time should be made of: - two basic factions - 6 to 7 maps on a smaller scale - we don't need huge scale maps, since we still don't have vehicles that could be used on them and they really tank performance - 3 basic modes - good optimization - good audio - good movement
The insurgency-ness of it is very temporary and also intentional. To have an open map and only main base spawnpoints at match start you need vehicles. To have vehicles you need building, to fortify against them. To fortify you need vehicles to bring supplies. Both building and vehicles have already been tested successfully, but they are not a priority to implement. The priority is automatic mod downloading of the server's mods, to tie it all together.
I think the game needs a few things. I'd like it if you could hold your breath when your aiming a sniper rifle. Also I noticed the bullet drop on sniper rifles is way lower than a standard M16A2 which makes no sense. Unless every sniper rifle is using subsonic ammo but that wouldn't make sense. I'd also like to swap out some optics, maybe have some attachments. If I knew how to mod I'd be all over it.
We need to band together and create a gamer created anticheat. I honestly think we could pull this off better than most of the major anti cheats because of our understanding of gaming AND coding. I'd love to see this game become a big middle finger to AAA and other major dev companies across different genres and systems.
If you set your graphics to lowest, (but high draw distance), you will get advantage because folliage disappear and enemies can be seen easily because of lack of shadows.
Since I always prefer to play solo, cheaters are not an issue for me, but maybe a reputation system to know who are you playing with would be better? also, a an anticheat third party/system would be a big drawback in the Bluedrake's philosophy, by limit the moddable capacity of the game.
What we should all understand about 'Operation: Harsh Doorstop' is the fact that it's not just a free game with World War 1, World War 2, Vietnam, Desert Storm and Modern Warfare modes, it's actually a free gaming platform where literally any type of game can be created for free on the 'Unreal' engine. I've played a ton of FPS games over the years, but this is the first game I've ever seen where the modding community were actually creating maps and mods before the game had even been officially released. Bluedrake and his team have created something very special with 'Operation: Harsh Doorstop' and I hope this gets the appreciation and support it deserves.
Huge potential for this game. Really optimistic for it's future. @3:20 Sounds like an auto-download feature for servers needs to be implemented so people can join modded servers. Seen this in the old MP servers in the early 2000s for games like the original CoD with modded servers. You join and it downloaded everything you needed to play. Big danger there is malware delivery. I'd personally like to see the ability for downloaded mods from the workshop being disabled/enabled in the menus.
For mods I really think they should take dayzs approach, and have a separate launcher for modded servers, when you load up a particular server it should bring up a list of the mods for the server and allow you to install them. I always loved that about dayz standalone launcher because it takes out all the guess work, and it makes it really really easy.
i think that if you're gonna have a game that will be HEAVILY modded with all different theatres of war, then atleast have a really good gunplay system and animations which this game does not have
Obviously anti cheat software is a given. Also a community ban list that bans your account and ip across all servers...make it really frustrating. Cheaters are sub human losers - they will never bed touched, so this is what they think pleasure is lol
community ban is a really bad idea, The server administrators would have to trust each other, otherwise an admin could ban you for a false positive or admin abuse. besides that the ip can be easily changed
Basically why I love this game so much is because of how easy it is to mod it. I'm a dev myself and I like to play my mods with friends. This game is the perfect plateform to do it, so I really enjoy what the devs are doing. Yes, there are stuff that could be upgraded. Yes, you can always do better. But this is still a rad game!
My only problem with the game rn is that I play in south america. The servers I find are all in NA or EU and I gotta play with 200 ping at the minimum. But hey, that's also my experience in squad lmao

I love how the operator puts the Makarov on safe when changing weapons. So smooth and as a Makarov owner, I just love that tiny bit of realism. Put it on safe also decocks the gun.
I wonder if a open-source solution to anti-cheat would be possible. Probably not. Also they should do what some other games do, is that they list the mods on server in-game, and have a download option which pipes to steam workshop in background, all done in-game, and mods can be enabled automatically in-game and allow you to continue playing. I think ARMA3 and Reforger does this already atm.
I think blue drake said on discord that they might be doing something where if you join a server with mods it will automatically download them but I don't have the greatest memory so correct me if I'm wrong
1:25 yeah bluedrake has addressed that also. The game is still very early on on development and it has says 32 players is the ideal option atm because of optimization issues. 64 and more is possible but it's pretty glitchy and chaotic. 32 is the sweet spot imo also as far as gameplay goes community mods will be the way to test that out as he has said. The most popular stuff will more than likely be implemented into the base game, but for the most part it will be the server owners responsibility to change the gameplay in the server (according to what I've heard and understand) I feel you're being a bit over critical. This game is amazing It's completely free and released day 1 with full mod support without things locked down like most games with mod support do. Big things will be coming soon I promise.
I feel like this game is more like a software instead of a actual game. Due to the mod system being 100% customizable, modders can literally create the game they always dreamt of on a free game. If anything we can create a better day Z or a mil sim like ready or not, but It’s really up to the community in my opinion
This is a problem for all online games. The only thing that stops a game from being completely unplayable due to cheaters is the level of incentive to cheat itself. The reason you don't see as many cheaters for Milsim games has nothing to do with Anti-Cheat (the ones you see is often very obvious). This is because the game is reliant on teamwork, and doesn't create as many ego battles like arcade shooters does where high scores is the only thing that provides rep, it also do not have the scene that COD has where streamers and tournament players can earn millions of dollars pretending to be top players.
Make sure you are on the current Steam build. Some players who playtested before accidentally installed the old Playtest build. That might be the issue you have, but I could be wrong
@@YeeLeeHaw You are dumb for responding like that. And if it was already addressed then why address it again on the comment below by Bluedrake himself. You know why... Because not everybody reads everything. So we ask questions. And you might have to answer them again.
I think a simple anti-cheat system will filter out a bunch of hackers and then the community will deal with the stronger hackers unless they are un-controllable
I'm happy BD is making this game. Just because of the community driven nature of it and what that could mean for the future of the industry as a whole. I'm probably going to skip on this title though. I'll probably give it a go but the shooting just... Does not look great. I'm a huge fan of Tarkov and it's hard to be interested in anything else with the gunplay in that game is so good. I really like Squad as well, and I think the shooting is pretty solid there too. Here's hoping they'll take more influence from those games.
I love BlueDrake's approach. "You want an anti-cheat? Arma admins made their own!" but I don't want to forever fix something that the game's developers pounced on or did wrong! How many times can this be repeated!
Why wouldn't I play Warzone? Because Warzone is gamey shit. THIS is a tactical shooter. Enjoy your hit markers and your XP read-outs. I don't want ANY of that juvenile shit.
I see the hidden potential here. I think people get too wrapped up about large scale. Infinitely moddable. Games like classic America's Army were very small scale and featured small teams in objective oriented pvp. Some small scale total conversions would be just what the doctor ordered.
Also with your comment on everyone being in the same spot, I think that will change as people figure out better routes for each map until then everyone just follows each other lol
you have to follow each other because there is no line of communication. what you're seeing is the game. that's why Arma and Squad were built around a radio system.
@@bustabusts there is communication, just nobody uses it because they have no reason to. this game wants to be both casual and serious all at the same time, when you can really only pick one or the other. look at squad. you've got a squad leader with actual use, who will usually kick you if you are unable to communicate and help the squad. in OHD at the current point in development, squad leader is literally just another rifleman and there are no role restrictions or anything to influence you into squad play. everyone just picks up a sniper rifle or machine gun and plays like they're a one man army. this may change when they introduce things like vehicles or more gamemodes, but as it is right now everybody just clumps together to get kills because there's no real reason not to
This is basically just a dev/mod tool for free. Definitely has potential and the future could be good....maybe. Cheaters will always be in every online game regardless of anticheat...unless you have an official legal identification verification system where cheaters when caught would actually be charged or arrested for cheating etc...which nobody would want to do both devs (probably would be extremely expensive) and fans. You can definitely reduce it though with anticheat and phone verification etc.
If I'm being completely honest they should have marketed OHD as a bare-bones creation kit with basic features/systems for content creation. As it stands right now in Early Access that's essentially all this game really is. I think a lot of the criticism for this project would have been dropped by most people if that was the case. That way you're not looking at this like a game and more so a platform like GMOD or by an even more accurate comparison...Roblox. Hell, even the GECK from Fallout.
Let's say the game "flops", give it 10 years and UA-camrs will say "it was the game that could save the industry" "it was completely free and with mod support" "it had the potential to replace all shooters" "one shooter to rule them all" But right now it's just a bare bones early access mess... give it time, all good things take some time, let's be patient for once
I think the issue on the cheaters is lost on most, Its not just the missing anti-cheat and sadly I have to agree with Bluedrake on the issue of Squad, I myself have banned 5 cheaters in the last month, between our entire admin team its well over 20 cheaters in the last month. But where I think the issue is lost, is how pointless it will be to ban them as server admins in a free to play game, its the same issue in Warzone2. With it being F2P they will just create a new account and be back within minutes. Unless they have plans to implement hardware bans witch are IMHO the best way to deal with the issue, Its a hopeless endeavor. And id say for those concerned about people buying used parts and being unknowingly hardware banned, that's the risk of buying used parts. I wish the game success and plan to play around on it soon. If we branch off into it, I hope it has some awesome admin tools implemented for us.
I personally love this game. I’m tired of Arma and squad and wanted somethin newish. I love how casual OHD is, you can pick it up and play it. I personally love to play it in bed on my steam deck. The cheaters can be bad too, we saw a guy last night running at Mach 20, but we all made jokes that it was a super soldier. Overall it was a fun experience

Y'know, the game has to be GOOD for people to be motivated enough to mod it
If you set your graphics to lowest, (but high draw distance), you will get advantage because folliage disappear and enemies can be seen easily because of lack of shadows.
For mods in server... I dont understand why it doesnt download them automatically when you try to join the server?? It would be way easier.
Since I always prefer to play solo, cheaters are not an issue for me, but maybe a reputation system to know who are you playing with would be better? also, a an anticheat third party/system would be a big drawback in the Bluedrake's philosophy, by limit the moddable capacity of the game.
Help me bro my PC says direct x 10.0 required and I tried all ways to solve it but nothing happened
Its missing the season pass ( if you know you know )
"where's the battle pass" 💀
They also really need to remove or have an option to disable the hipfire aiming.
im really trying to "steady aim" but i cant find sutch setting. is there a mod for that
I'd rather put my time and effort into this game than to continue getting the reach-around from the dice team over 2042
i think that if you're gonna have a game that will be HEAVILY modded with all different theatres of war, then atleast have a really good gunplay system and animations which this game does not have
Obviously anti cheat software is a given.
_"Obviously anti cheat software is a given"_
Explain why it's a given? Maybe you dreamed up that part chief?
I want an in depth gear customization system, I think that would be really REALLY cool
Put it on safe also decocks the gun.
one thing you missed to point out was the gun sound. The gun sound effect isn just really bad, they need to fix it.
Even the base movement is completely jank. I tried to like it but it's not even ready for early access.
Another issue is that mods on the workshop are kind of hard to access in the game. Like there is no menus to just click and play the mod.
honestly im just waiting for it to be a fully fledged extraction shooter with tarkov mechanics!
there’s two types of gamers, the gamers who want the experience ,and gamers who want the achievement
I think you forgot how barebones squad was on launch
how is the performance? is it low-end friendly?
The thing i hope they fix is sound of weapons like 50AE deagle have sound of 32acp 😀
in all maps I think the size of the tree is not big enough
Will they optimize the game more to make it run better fps wise?
This is what they need to focus on the mod support
If anything we can create a better day Z or a mil sim like ready or not, but It’s really up to the community in my opinion
that's the entire point of the game
Damn drake was like lets make a game for gamers, and then it gets over run by fucking nerds cheating. He probably didn't even think about it.
the servers themselves have to make an anticheat and he said so himself. He thought about it lmao.
@@myrco6863Any game does that, like squad for example, its just not encouraged
he had to know cuz any game will get cheaters, just the sad fact
This is a problem for all online games. The only thing that stops a game from being completely unplayable due to cheaters is the level of incentive to cheat itself. The reason you don't see as many cheaters for Milsim games has nothing to do with Anti-Cheat (the ones you see is often very obvious). This is because the game is reliant on teamwork, and doesn't create as many ego battles like arcade shooters does where high scores is the only thing that provides rep, it also do not have the scene that COD has where streamers and tournament players can earn millions of dollars pretending to be top players.
Hey man I cant like spawn in is it a bug?
I can only see one server and a bunch of other players can only see one server too. Possible bug?
Make sure you are on the current Steam build. Some players who playtested before accidentally installed the old Playtest build. That might be the issue you have, but I could be wrong
16v16 is definitely the way to play
Maybe in the end we will have "super power servers".
If you think coming up on 2 Years as "recent" then yes EAC went Free "recently"...
Yup i called this. I asked about anti cheat a couple of weeks under one of it's videos. Never got a answer.
You never got an answer because it has been addressed already, and your question is dumb.
@@YeeLeeHaw You are dumb for responding like that. And if it was already addressed then why address it again on the comment below by Bluedrake himself. You know why... Because not everybody reads everything. So we ask questions. And you might have to answer them again.
Don't know much about the technical stuff. What I can say is that I like the gunplay of OHD and its philosophy. So I will stick to it for a start.
I think a simple anti-cheat system will filter out a bunch of hackers and then the community will deal with the stronger hackers unless they are un-controllable
I do like it tho it has a long way to become a big game
I can't even bind my right click to hold ads. Just this alone makes the game unplayable for me.
all this game showed me was that free doesn't equal good.
I think the idea is to be more like arma, where the community makes the game
similar, checked single, mp, unistalled. If it will got more mods, more modes, better mechanics, I will be back.
I had a dude raining grenades on our spawn for the entire match they won in like 2 minutes lmaoooo
I love BlueDrake's approach. "You want an anti-cheat? Arma admins made their own!" but I don't want to forever fix something that the game's developers pounced on or did wrong! How many times can this be repeated!
When I heard it had "unlimited modding potential," I thought they meant guns, maps, and vehicles... not us having to mod in our own anti-cheat! 🤨😂
the funny thing is how i got an ad of an anti cheat site
Yea, you kinda nailed it.. Ik it’s still very early access, but it’s definitely insurgency sandstorm lite at the moment.
I cant even find more than 1 server to play on
Reminds me a lot of Enemy Territory, Punkbuster was eventually perfected and few cheaters on good servers.
Why wouldn't I play Warzone? Because Warzone is gamey shit. THIS is a tactical shooter. Enjoy your hit markers and your XP read-outs. I don't want ANY of that juvenile shit.
THIS
But there's so many others out there that just do it better. This just feels fun and gun when I play it in multiplayer lmao
Why does my Gun keep going down by itself ?
Ever played Squad?
Well its not what we waited but give it a year. Its too early to judge:D
didn´t really catch me.. not sure what it was, but I unintstalled pretty quick.
was playing SP though. not much of a pvp player anymore.
I am so happy Squad added Emote! /s
I think minecraft has people make their own anti cheat too
I see the hidden potential here.
Game has a hilarious name. "Harsh Doorstop." That's great.
Is this unreal engine? if so you can implement Easy Anti Cheat in your game pretty easily
This game is Ravenfield, if Ravenfield was free, had online coop, missions, and community servers, and offline play
Lol i was in that lobby with Donnie_Rex .. this was earlier today if I'm not mistaken.
It needs work. The mod potential I’m hoping turns out something good. But there is no anti cheat
That’s what anti cheats are for. But apparently some devs in the gaming world dont think it’s necessary.
Nice honest video
COD had no anti cheat for years and took them AGES to implement and they charge $70 a year
optimisation in game is soo bad bro with my gtx 1070 8gb ,i7 3930k and 24gb ram i have around 50-60fps :( for 240hz monitor is soo poor
Let's say the game "flops", give it 10 years and UA-camrs will say "it was the game that could save the industry" "it was completely free and with mod support" "it had the potential to replace all shooters" "one shooter to rule them all"
But right now it's just a bare bones early access mess... give it time, all good things take some time, let's be patient for once
Voting to kick does wonders
BF5 Flashbacks
I personally love this game. I’m tired of Arma and squad and wanted somethin newish. I love how casual OHD is, you can pick it up and play it. I personally love to play it in bed on my steam deck. The cheaters can be bad too, we saw a guy last night running at Mach 20, but we all made jokes that it was a super soldier. Overall it was a fun experience
