The lore behind it is that he "hoped" to contain the evil power himself. More likely is that diablo's influence "encouraged" him to do it as a means of self preservation
@2ndsB4 The story goes that as the hearo travels down to the depths of hell, Diablo gives him ideas of how to destroy him. Diablo does this because he needs a stronger vessel to take him out of the Cathedral dungeons. The hero mistakes Diablo's ideas for his own and so goes through with putting the stone into his head.

To be honest the better idea would be to bring the stone back to Cain since any demon can find the stone and uses it to bring back Diablo. Cain would probably know what to do with it.
+Ashadow Reviews The ending is subtle and dark, cool and full of atmoshphere that's how Tal Rasha contained Baal he thrust hus soulstone into his own head. It's perfect.
Maybe the stone doesn't necessarily have to be evil. Maybe it contains power and the grind through it was suddenly not to stop evil but instead to gain that power.
"Done what you knew must be done?" No. Plunging a Soulstone containing the essence of the demon you just successfully vanquished into your own noggin is NOT in fact what must done.
The soulstone was no longer a prison since Lazarus broke it, that small shard that was left was how exactly the Prime Evil wants it so they can use it to corrupt the worldstone. If you don't destroy it in the hellforge, Diablo's soul is gonna roam free in the sanctuary. It worked like a horcrux. He had to complete the prison himself.

@SnakeEater1995 Dunno, but "Deckard Cain"'s voice is in Snake Eater: the voice actor's name is Michael Gough (NOT the guy who played Alfred in the old Batman movies).

Why do you think he guy you follow in Diablo 2 cinematics says '' we where heading East.. always East - maybe he where only looking for a way to contain it or salvation
***** ye :P pretty sure it was Diablo's soul shard that told him that his salvation would be East in diablo 1 ending - the reason he is heading there in Diablo 2 .. but losses more of his humanity when he gets closer to baal
Blizzard made a mistake in their storyline with the Book of Lorath, doesn't make sense that Aiden (the hero) doesn't identify his own "younger brother" as it is told here in Diablo 1 with Deckard Cain. Also, my man, beating the orde of Blood Knights it's easier with some spells, even the firewall spell (less damage because resistant, but still damaging them), that was always my strategy to kill'em all without losing too many health potions.
@godlosme not quite... Diablo didnt drop a soulstone item cause when the game came out killing him was the end and you taking the soulstone and destroying it was part of the end cinema. As to Baal's... maybe its fate has something to do with D3?
Thanks for this. Was trying on a rogue class and was getting absolutely butchered. I wish I didn't sell the bow that stuns enemies. Dude hits like a truck and I had no way to stop him. Now I can just head to Diablo 2.. Ridiculous boss
It IS ridiculous. Just completed the game as a rogue. I can feel your pain. The last levels were just crawling pixel by pixel, sniping in the darkness, dodging fireballs. As for the tactics for Diablo himself - just keep full belt of full health pots and RMB with town portal for restock (it you are lucky and quick enough). Just stand, point blank shoot and drink pots like crazy. Best Boss Fight Ever. Other then that - great game overall. Many people here noted that Diablo 1 really is a horror game. The atmosphere makes your skin crawl. Love every part of the game, BUT the last boss. Maybe I've just played the game wrong and had to collect fire resist armor and rings... But the only thing with fire resist/restist all that I found were an amulet, a ring and a shield 80 str, that I could not equip as a rogue. And with 50% fire resist Diablo just laughed in my face, burning the ground under me. Not cool.
I know that izual from d2 is the character form d1, is that true? and those skull leavers are activating the coming of diablo like those round things in d2?
The Champion is like frodo, he got the soulstone of diablo now he needs to travel to mount doom in hyrule. And then throw himself with the soulstone into the burning fire.
I'm guessing the Diablo in D3 will be the same Diablo we're all familiar with. After all, in the teaser Blizz released, he looks just about the same, except for the mouths on his shoulders. In any case, knowing Blizz, they've probably cooked up something to explain why Diablo (or his influence) is still a threat.
@toxicitzi I kinda agreed with TrueGamerNET, the hero was an idiot when he put that soulstone in his head... Well that is what I thought before I heared what happened with Soulstones... They can corrupt their surrounding, so keeping the demon in himself until new heroes arrives was the best option... A sacrifice if you prefer.
It's difficult to say exactly what the soulstones did... but according to Izual, the fallen archangel you kill in act IV of d2, the soulstones were a trick meant to unleash the prime evils onto the mortal world. So destroying them presumably ensured that the three would not return. But who knows. Blizz retcons a lot and my guess is that they could make up anything and blame it on the destruction of the world stone at the end of act V.
Now they blame Heaven has been corrupted and the Heavens gates closed and now heaven is a part of hell now, Heaven is silent because they gave up and want to save themselves
How do you get to the 7th floor (not 17th) in this game? I'm on the 6th floor, and the whole area is blocked off. Did it have something to do with the Shrine I went up to?
i never understood why do you take the crystal and put in your head?(to imprison diablo?-it was foolish,a such strong demon cannot be imprisoned) and i wonder 2 things: 1-what would happen if the hero wouldn't take the crystal?diablo could rise again? 2-why diablo and baal in d2 doesn't drop soulstones?
The lore behind it is that he "hoped" to contain the evil power himself. More likely is that diablo's influence "encouraged" him to do it as a means of self preservation

Diablo in diablo 3 is an absolute joke
@@floydandriessen3995 correct, most people don’t understand how hard d3 was inferno, even with the ah. Shout out mempo of twilight

I DID AN ALTERNATE ENDING in a way
what I did I took my character and placed him outside the corner of the diablo arena then I opened a town portal beside me so I could move out easily all are set!
I used a mana shield scroll and the guardian scroll which I placed at the opening of the area mostly 3 to lure diablo out of the area for a one on one battle before diablo few blood knights came out i fought them and stayed in my position then diablo came I fought him when he started screaming in the pain I saved the game and loaded it again it's because when i kill it first time my character doesn't move it has to continue the story but when reloaded the character can move and I had three seconds to get out of there so I ran through the town portal back to tristram then I went to the level 1 cathedral opened another town portal went through it (in signal player you can't open multiple portals) came back to tristram then went again through the portal back in the cathedral so it closes then I came out of the cathedral
After you do this go back to the diablo circle it will be closed and will never open again :D
Fun facts about it this alternate ending
When you re-play diablo game with your old character you have the option of going to hell and fight diablo directly if you the above "cheat" and play all the levels later then there will be some differences
•The levels will look a little dark for example the floor in the hell levels will turn from purplish blue to blackish grey
•Monsters will be weak except in the crypts (I did this in hellfire) the monster in those are only little weaker
•you can raid whole levels much and much faster!
if you are a sorcerer boi it will be boring like one shot-ing everything Apocalypse spell will be an over kill!
•Even the bosses and mini bosses will be weak
•If you kept the town portal to diablo and got out before the cut scene there is a interesting detail if you go back to the diablo level you won't see diablo you will be Albrecht's body in the game(not the cut scene) with the soul stone beside him in the actual game
Albrecht looks like any slain kid in the hell click his body and you see the cut scene
• if do this ending then you can do all the quest in reverse like hell-caves-catacombs-cathedral
But after this you won't have anything to do instead of talking to the NPCs and waving your sword in the air
There is a problem with is ending when you play the game normally all the pain, frustration, rage given by bosses, mini bosses and monsters you pour it all down on diablo which gives you a satisfaction
But if you kill the final boss at the start and other bosses death will feel eh but is fun to be OP once

And two Lightforge rings, and a Lightforge Helmet
Animated blizzard characters always used to have the wierdest faces...
I only read the manual from Diablo 2 and LOD.
I haven't read the novels. Are they good?
yeah... the diablo from D2 is you from D1
this cinematic is fucking masterpiece
I remember playing this on PC and PS1 it was so hard on PC that i never could defeat Diablo and PS1 was way too easy
i have finished mw2 on veteran even Bo on veteran but dam this game was hard as hell sometimes lol (but very awesome game)
BO1 veteran is nothing to mess with that missile silo level ending going through the offices Jesus that was hard
Ever try WAW on veteran? Oh man
Cains Scottish really comes and goes haha. Im glad he exorcised the Scot demons entitely before D2
Has the best lore ever.
Да!
Why did they stop using Sean Connery to voice Deckard Cain?
Its actually Michael J Gough
@@jamescommagere7906 'Twas a joke.
@TrueGamerNET Wasnt it because he had to cease the devil or something?
3:05 directed by Michel bay
How do you know that? I'm curious did you read any of the books from the diablo series
In Diablo II, Diablo is a Super Unique Monster.
Which weapon do you use pls? Is it an unique item?
theres a staff that everyone passes around when i played and i killed diablo without getting touched
I'm rogue with bow, can't kill him, he sets me on fire pls help
Not even death can save you from me
It's difficult to say exactly what the soulstones did... but according to Izual, the fallen archangel you kill in act IV of d2, the soulstones were a trick meant to unleash the prime evils onto the mortal world.
Haven't played diablo 1, have you?
I have never noticed but that voice is cornel from mgs
It's spelled colonel
sorry I can't spell too good
How do you get to the 7th floor (not 17th) in this game? I'm on the 6th floor, and the whole area is blocked off. Did it have something to do with the Shrine I went up to?
''YOU MUST DESTROY DEEEABLO''
i never understood why do you take the crystal and put in your head?(to imprison diablo?-it was foolish,a such strong demon cannot be imprisoned)
and i wonder 2 things:
1-what would happen if the hero wouldn't take the crystal?diablo could rise again?
2-why diablo and baal in d2 doesn't drop soulstones?
