- Something to look Forward to the next time you fill up your tank John from Lighthouse Window Cleaning will show you how to never leave that annoying line in your windshield when you’re washing Their windows at the gas stations
49 seconds. No 5 minute backstory. No extended intro. No vlog getting ready at home. Just straight to the point.
For that sir, you get a like.
I was afraid to click it for fear of seeing a stupid intro. Straight in and out! I concur!
He even added a movie line in this short but great tip video
And that is why I did something I very rarely do... I gave him a 👍
"Yo! Smash that mutha fookin Like button and subscribe, it's ya boi squeegee kid 69 with another cleaning video!"
@@pav1974 Yep. It is the gift that keep on giving the whole year. You are the third to pick up on the CV reference. Great minds!
Now if I can just find a gas station with actual clean sudsy washing fluid available........
Good point, I actually use my own soapy water for the video😊
Or even a squeegee that ain't broke
I'd settle for some friggin water!
@@nicholasmuro1742 you don't carry your own squeegee ??? well, there's your solution !
@@lylestavast7652
Gee golly...why didn't I think of that
UA-cam needs to use this man's video as a tutorial to all other UA-cam contributors. Loved it. Short and sweet with real useful content and mercifully, no music. Make this man the patron saint of UA-cam!
You sound like you just want to read a manual. I think everyone has clearly spoken that your opinion has lost the war.
Both good points. This video's small handful of reviewers likes this style. But there's eleven gazillion videos that incorporate all that stuff we seem to hate (too long, to much time wasted, ridiculous music etc). Those other videos get eleven gazillion thumbs up.
I don't like Bob Dylan or liver or huge chrome spinner wheels. The majority of humans don't share my taste. It would be ridiculous for UA-cam to recommend that viewers follow a template for a video that's significantly less popular than the huge majority of videos.
Be proud of your individuality. I'm proud to not like Bob Dylan and to like this style video. I'm in the minority. I don't need UA-cam to make someone a hero because I like his video style. Like someone/something because YOU like it, not because others like it.
@@CraigLumpyLemke Great minds think alike! Nothing more irritating than hearing whining Bob sing out against wealth and entitlement from his mansion. Or come to a four-way stop intersection and you have right-of-way and the low rider to the left is stopped with what looks like his wheels still spinning. Don't get me started!
But don't I need to know the history of soapy water?
No music is key. Glad you pointed that out
As a 50 year old guy with 2 engineering degrees, I can say that this is the most practical, straight to the point, informative lesson, that I've never had in any college lecture.
Thanks buddy
Holy crap! No tutorial on the history of window cleaning throughout the world before getting to the point? That’s how it’s done folks! That was awesome! TY…🙏🏻👍🏻
. . and it didn't teach us how to build a bridge
🤣 good point! I was waiting 🤔 and then 😳 that’s it? that’s IT! 😃 THAT’S IT! 😛 🤣
This is how you create a helpful, educational video ladies and gentlemen -- get straight to the point and don't waste time. Nicely done, sir and thank you for the great window cleaning tip!
More to come
So simple yet I was 53 years old before I learned this!! Ty!
62 and known for 40 plus years..
This is a great tip. But, now how do you avoid that vertical line of water down the middle?
@@spaceman2590The paper towels above the bucket are for wiping the blade dry between swipes. Just start closer to you at the top and with each swipe, go a little bit past the last starting point, and be sure to use the paper towel to wipe the blade dry between swipes.
Although if the fluid is clean enough, a second sponge and wipe will get it clean enough that the streak will dry clear so there’s really no need to worry about it in most cases.
My man dropped a “look Russ no lines” at the end like a boss!😂
brilliant reference
You are one of the few who caught it.
I was literally thinking this line when he said it :D
🤷♀
Years ago I was a gas jockey, cleaned windows all the time. I swiped the blade on my jeans after every swipe to avoid streaks. Now, I feel like an idiot as this easy trick would have been SO much better. Thank you, liked and subscribed!
This was so brief, simple and true...in in a few precious seconds. You definitely win the internet today!
It's amazing how simple that is, yet I've never done it that way. I'll try that next time for sure.
Are you a woman?
Really?! It’s honestly common sense. Lol I hope you figure out everything else in life you’ve been doing wrong! Lmfao
@@gotchaabeech I know, right? I figured out how to stop making the lines shortly after I got my first car.
I usually just get the bugs off and live without streaky wiper blades
So did it work.?
"Look Russ, no lines" haha!! That is a great line!!
Thanks for the tip! And now UA-cam will be showing me videos about how to clean my car windows for the next 2 years! 🤣
Lol 😂
That, sir, is the most useful thing I have seen all day.
48 seconds....way to go dude....awsome
Awards for the best instructional video I've seen. I've always wondered why those streaks were left after I was so careful not to leave any. Actually looking forward to trying it.
One of the more satisfying videos I've seen in a while
Omg 😂😂 "Look Russ no lines" is a freaking shoutout to The Christmas Story! I don't know why but this brings me joy and a smile to my face. Thank you for throwing that in there and I appreciate the advice ❤️
You are one of the very few that picked up on that. Great minds! Classic movie
Christmas Vacation!
Sorry, but the line is not from Christmas Story....its from Christmas Vacation. Russ is the son of Chevy Chase who said that line.....!
Ahhhh I just remembered. The lingerie sales lady scene! 😂 PERFECT REFERENCE
And yes, it’s Christmas Vacation, not that horrible horrible Christmas Story 😬
Simply brilliant. Just realized I have been doing it wrong for the first half of my life!
Thanks for that awesome tip. That always frustrates me when I can’t get rid of that line .🥰
Thank you John! I’m 69 years old and I’m still learning new tricks. Thanks for sharing. Now I can teach this to my grandkids and look smart.
Simple great advice, but unknown to most people. As an old gas station jockey (back when there was such a thing as full serve!) we used to do the remaining window (passenger side) starting from the bottom and do small "L" shapes to not leave any visible marks on the window too. 👍
How did I not know this? You learn something new everyday. Thanks mister!
The secret of the window cleaning gods. Thank you!!!
Great tip, thanks. I was doing it the wrong, regular, straight across way. Had to use the paper towel to try to remove the streak line. Often in the heat the line had already dried out.
Same
Thank you, John! It’s the little things in life that can make me smile and this does!!
Thanks Alice.
Fantabulous info done under a minute!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
Thank you for this! I am the worst at cleaning glass, windows, mirrors, etc. I'll have to try this next time!
Awesome! Great video mate - straight to the point and nice demo!
Also, wipe the squeegee dry between wipes with the paper towels. You also won’t leave marks at the beginning of each wipe across. No need to do this on the first half, though. Angling the squeegee takes care of that.
Pull the squeegee across the rubber gasket at the edge of the glass. I've been doing this since the first few days I worked at a gas station in 1977.
@@carlbruschnigjr1757 Same, since ‘72
Fling It across the floor
I rub it on my jeans if cleaning the driver side in a hurry. Usually around the knee
Or alternatively if you're 8 feet tall or have extremely long arms you can do it in one pass
As a child of a since passed '50's grease monkey from one of those "old skool", proper "full service" gas stations; who taught me the proper way to wipe a windshield - when you come 'round to the passenger side - use the same angled technique, but remember to wipe the the squeegee blade dry before & after each pass to prevent "mid-lines"!
Still use this technique today when putting up cling-style window sales signs at work!*
🙏Thanks dad for the knowledge! 🤟
*I have become "the guy" for the job. It's just one of those thing I take great pride and care in. ☺
{Also reminds me of applying tint back in the early '00's; and I did some hella-awesome jobs back in the day!} 🤘
Inspiration for the sequel
Thank you for keeping it short and on point . without also teaching me how to build a bridge
Thank you, John!Sometimes small things add so much to enjoyment of life!
This is the smartest thing I've seen all day!
The fact you found a gas station that had clean water, much less any in the bucket is what amazes me.
Simple yet mindblowing! It is like learning one of life’s great secrets! Thanks!
Great !!! Thank you 🙂 Never ever thought of doing it that way.
So quick, so efficient, so wholesome and kind!! Thank you for a tutorial on something that seems easy but isn't!!
Glad I could help
The russ comment made me laugh. Love the info, I'll never forget it!
It seems so obvious when you explain it, yet I never would have thought about it myself.
Nice, I never knew that. Straight to the point as well. Thanks!
I worked at a full-service station forty years ago. I used this strategy all the time.
I also used a paper towel to wipe off the squeegee when working the other end of the windscreen, again to keep from leaving trails of water on the windscreen.
I use a cloth to wipe the squeegee blade after each stroke. It prevents water splashing all over the rest of the glass.
So wasted tons of paper towels, therefore thousands gallons of water that go to make paper towels.
Got gas at a Pilot a few days ago while on the road out of state ...
They had 5gal buckets with squeegees on 5ft wooden handles ... wonderful.
Pilot does it right
I didn't even know I needed this...Thank You
Simple quick accurate and effective! You , sir, have a new subscriber!
Perfect video. Fun and informative in 49 secs.
That’s how I was taught when I worked at my local Shell Gas Station from 1980-1983 ( part time high school job) and still do it to this day!
Great little video !
Thanks! Simple, great tip. In less than a minute.
Now all you need to do is to find a gas station with a squeegee and washer fluid.
“Can’t see the line, can ya Russ?” Classic 😂
That line used to drive me crazy so thanks for that tip. However, I filled up a few days ago at a Shell station. The window washing thing was completely empty, had no brush and looked like it probably hadn’t been filled in a long time. Seems like they have been empty at other gas stations I’ve been to recently too. I hope gas stations aren’t doing away with those.
Take note ; he doesn’t take two minutes to show you a ten second tip. He gets right to the point.
Yeah and our ears didn't have to bleed from hearing the ever boring "I want to take a moment to ask you to click like and subscribe" -- please content creators just stop asking us this we already know for the love of god. I will never like and subscribe to a channel that bores me this way.
Very simple, informative, to the point video, you've gained a subscriber.
Good tip. I figured that this was intuitive.
Did nobody pick up the Christmas vacation reference? Can’t see the line can you Russ!!! Love it. Greatest movie ever.
More useful than half of the things taught in public schools.
No doubt
Absolutely brilliant!!!! Who knew? Besides this guy. Thanks!!!!
Yesterday I watched a tutorial video where the channel's animated logo sequence took up more time than the actual lesson. I agree with the others who say this is the way to do a tutorial video. Well done.
Fast and simple. Straight to the point that’s what I like. Don’t care about what gas station or the price of gas but that line being gone made my day. OCD at its finest.
This is the best tip I’ve learned in a long time 😃
This is, hands down, the best thing I’ve ever learned on the UA-cams.
Wow. Thats freaking sad. I've rebuilt cars, houses, learned to 3d print and lazer engrave. Garden... you learned how to clean a windshield (which you should have already known)
Sad bro.
Wow! You don't get out much ! Get and , And Learn!
John you’re awesome! 🫡💯👏🏽🔥
Simple video. Great tip. I always get that line when I washed my windows. No more. Thanks!
How did I not figure that out driving over the last 45 years? Thank you!
Probably from mostly looking through a windshield from the inside out for 40+ years.
Never have I ever found a gas station with a usable squeegee.
Far away from Citiots they are everywhere.
I usually use a paper towel to dry the squeegee between wipes to avoid that dang water line. But thanks to you, I have another way to avoid it. Thank you!!!!
Great tip!!!
I started doing this in 1976 at my first job after school at a local gas station.
It's not the line I was bummed about, it's always the solution in the bucket. Either dirty water or nothing!
Dirty smelly water
This use to be what was called, "common sense"!!! 🤣😂
Seems common sense became less common with the decline of father figures in people's life.
Internet dads to the rescue...!
Seriously hahahha like wtf i was waiting for the trick. Im going to make video on the trick to idk tie your shoes but its not a trick its just me lacing my shoes
It's hilarious how many people claim that they already knew this, yet these same geniuses are clicking on windshield cleaning videos.
@@profd65 We needed a good laugh! Thanks for playing!!
Thanks for the quick tip... at last, no more lines on my windshield 😁👍🏼👍🏼
Very simple honest and informative. Right on.
I'm scared there's people on the road next to me who couldn't figure this out themselves.
Most people on the road don’t even notice their windows need cleaning!
I'm scared there's people on the road doing this while driving!
I'm just scared, hold me pls ;(
If by 16 1/2 years old you haven’t figured this out…. Holy shit
I watched this to learn something new. What I learned from the replies is that there are a lot of people that aren't very smart. How could a person not figure this out?
Next trick is how guys can avoid peeing on a toilet seat
Thank you! I struggle with that.
AWESOME! Thank You so much for sharing and PLEASE stay healthy and safe out there!
I guess this is for people with absolutely no common sense. 😕
Bonus points for the Christmas Vacation reference!
Love it! As others mentioned, short sweet, right down to the point. Thank you!
Learned this in Gaspumper 101 back in '69. Might have to explain that to youngun's today. Oil check was mandatory as well as front (and back windshield washing as time permitted). Also check automatic transmissions for the wimmen. Dudes were on their own. Always fun to "find the gas tank" on certain cars, like '50's GM and certain Fords. And be given a can of oil to mix with the gas on Saabs.
You sound like someone I would like to hang out with
As a truck driver, thank you for that tip .
Lol so simple but I never knew that, good 1. I've almost always just splashed the soap on while windshield wipers was running. Lol thanks
That's the cleanest gas station squeegee I have ever seen!! And, Yes!! Great video without all kinds of crap
Cracking stuff. Love your sincere, honest, helpful information. I have now subscribed. Well done.
after decades or leaving a line I finally know the secret- thanks!
LOL I’m gonna go check out your other videos just because you referenced NLCV. 😂😂😂 👏👏👏
Thank you for a video actually worth watching on UA-cam.
This is a gem of a tip. Thank u
So, I recently had a guy who does auto detailing clean the inside of my car (it was in desperate need of that.) When he finished, it was awesome - except for the windows, but we didn’t notice until later. Due to the cool tip you just gave us, I’m going to search your videos for tips on the interior windows (I’ve already subscribed and given this video a like, but, of course, it deserves a love.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I hate those lines, I always end up taking a paper towel and wiping the window off afterwards. Neat trick, have to try it.
I wish Professors where like you! Quick got it and DONE! TY
I looked this up bc I was bored and wanted to see if there were any tips and tricks for cleaning car windows 😂 thanks 👍🏾
Glad you found this helpful
Maaaaavelous…You’re Awesome!!! It always bugged me when I did that, now I know better …Thank You 🤗
Thank you!!! I love my car, and always try to take the best care of it. This is a simple unknown and overlooked idea. This is what UA-cam should be!!!!
Always the great teacher! Thanks John.
Thanks I’m 58 and I learn something new every day
Beautiful! I will try it!
What I usually find, it the blade part is bent in different spots, and doesn't hit the window straight...... and sometimes the cleaning stuff is stinky and dirty! But.... I will try this.... thank you for sharing! I subscribed too! You are almost at 1000! Yippie! I also shared!
Omg thank you sooo much i never understood why i was doing it wrong. You are awesome :)
John, great video. Thank you for the great tip. Cheers.
Wow this is one of the best instructional videos I've ever watched. And l learned something new.
Thanks, can't wait to give it a try.
