OMG ! those Egg Canons are insane. BUT, I'm totally on board with letting them do their spawn with out being harassed . If those big girls were caught in say, in January thru the ice, or July, in deeper depths, I'd be even more impressed. It's an emotional roller coster watching the "Sconies" on the Fox and Oconto slam the big girls, but think of the trauma that is put on the fish. As a lover of the Walleye, my vote is, give'm a break during spawn. Brett, love what you're doing, keep it up. 218 RAW !
I can't believe that the US lets folks fish these species during the spawn.... it's closed season up here north of the border.

I fish at Hell Creek all the time. Walleye's get huge eating cisco's.
From those pictures that walleye doesn’t look close to 18 pounds. look at the current state record thats a pig. just curious if that fish was caught april 1st 🤔
Tough to say but I think it’s just because they are average pictures. Honestly the quality looked like they were taken with a toaster in the FB post 😂 but sounds like the fish was legit.
@@TargetWalleyethey definitely are deceiving pictures. If I was guessing I would say 9 pounds judging off the picture. Too bad they didn’t get some better shots.
For those who are saying that we should not fish walleyes during the spawn. Why is it then that Nd and Montana season never closes and Minnesota does and the walleye fishin sucks in Minnesota and in ND and Montana it is fantastic.
Pressure, not even close. It’s likely more people fish Minnesota opener than fish Walters all year in ND & Mt.

@GunLake218 . I guide in Nd and i can tell you that i see more boats on any given day during the weekends than what i have seen on Millacs during the opener. Being i am originally from MN and have been in ND for 14 years. I know what the fishing pressure is like here in ND.
Should be fishing during the spawn! You don’t know what you’re missing!
Not the best pictures. That fish looks like a 9 pounder. Honestly it doesn’t even look fat. Too bad they didn’t get some better perspectives of it.
Shouldn’t be fishing walleyes during the spawn.
