Let's not even consider the absolute mastery of the art. Just the staggering amount of art done, at his age! A painter in his 30's would do great to create half the volume that he does. A planetary treasure making full use of his gifts and his long life, and we are all the better for it.
Exercises in scale and space and the journey to discover it is what the essence of this is.nothing really to do with the scene, the scene is quite “quiet” and ordinary made extraordinary by a master. He could of just executed so many other ways e.g. mural like grid, projection from photograph but he is a searcher of space and realness. Awesome.
I accidentally took loads (2) pictures with a panoramic camera of this scenery a few weeks ago. Feels like that movie "Close encounter of the third grade". But in my world trying to paint all these branches is stupid.
A little confusion as to this complicated project the enormity of it have got to get technical and talk shop how about a pink or brite orange yellow or lime green background has Hockney considered pink as a background always
Painting by numbers taken to another level. If only art was judged more like football - only as good as your last game. Modern art appears to be so infiltrated by charlatans and sheisters insisting something is of merit, or insanely valuable, when it clearly is not. This painting is big and pleasant - fair enough - but they’ll all be there, staring, gasping, deliberating, dissecting at the behest of an art establishment hell-bent on maintaining and controlling their rarified, lucrative and exclusive world. They’ll all see something in this work denied to mere mortals. Maybe David Hockney was hijacked into this disingenuous world - who knows? I once stood before a huge Turner, totally in awe and lost in it. I had it to myself and time stopped. I followed each brushstroke, mesmerised, then left, only to return within the hour. He was definitely every bit as good as his last game.

Thanks god, finally a critical comment! I completely agree. His work is extremely overrated. He makes a bad version of Van Gogh and combines it with pop-art colors... and that puts him at the level of genius artists? Not for me...
@@jean-francoisbrunet2031 I normally do not get bored with myself, but thanks for caring about me. Hockney is a poor artist and only because he is british and has many wealthy friends he made it to the top, definitely not because of his poor childish pop-artwork.
@@lluhu OK, I should not have been so sarcastic, but you repeat again and again under several videos that Hockney is bad without ever providing the slightest argument, except ad hominem ones (British, wealthy...), and the standard "childish" which has been used so often for the greatest painters of the XXth century. This level of argumentation would seem to me to deserve only one occurrence, no?

Pintar árboles! Y con esa mirada universal,de éste maestro!! Que hermoso vídeo, gracias!
he brings me joy
Amazing; childlike but from the hand of a master - Modern art at its finest.
Extraordinário talento e esforço. Hockney é meu pintor vivo preferido.
Beside the artistic talent that he processes, I am forever inspired by just how much work he had put in and accomplished...
Love. Love. Love.

My being rejects so much technical manipulations, I doubt Van Gogh or the Nature
Would admire this
