im ok with humor, some of the smartest people i have known have been very prone to quips, and dark or absurd humor, and i mean smart as in intelligent and wise, the number of intelligent dumbasses i have known has been far higher than i care to think about.. by that i mean, they are educated, and have the knowladge but not the wisdom to back it... i have seen bloody lab explosions due to them ignoring vets in the field and doing shit that... well... big bada boom... just... idiots with intellect.. also seen stoic people who are very wise, and those who are just smart enough to keep their mouth shut and not show their emotions but otherwise are dumber than a box of rocks... still.. making them smarter than the dumbasses who never shut the fck up.. oh and... why they have the human play the dumbass is beyond me.. i mean if its for a joke and the persons just playing a roll.. ok i get that.. but... even hillbilly rednecks i have grown up around.. arent the kind of hapless dumbass so many of these stories make the human out to be... not saying we should be superior... more... some of us are smarter than others but most of us are smarter than these human MC's...
Why does the human character have to be a simpleton relying upon humor trope in so many of these stories? Why not stoic and wise?
