As of RIGHT NOW, the cost (and return) from buying Token Tuesdays has been greatly reduced from when Token Tuesdays was original launched. Tokens are very, very scarce, and as a new player, you are best saving your tokens for impactful new cards that are released into Series 4 for 3000 tokens. The problem with the Token Tuesday bundles is that they wildly overprice the Tokens themselves from a gold perspective, and gold is hard to come by. Gambling 1000 tokens as a new player on a random series 3 card in the shop isn't worth it. You are better off focusing on using credits to upgrade cards and progress through your collection track, collecting the cards along the way. Keep an eye out, though, because sometimes there are super cheap token Tuesday bundles that are worth it. Overall, though, predictable returns on high-value bundles are the best use for your gold.

So glad you mention not to spend gold on mission resets. That advice is actually posted on many forums online and I ended up buying so many mission resets that the game told me I maxed out per my “daily limit”. I wish I knew this sooner but it makes sense that it’s not a good use of gold. Thanks Alex .
It's not about whether you like or dont like doing missions. The whole point is to progress ur account in the most efficient way possible. If u keep wastin gold on mission refills u wont save enough gold to buy a bundle thats 10x the value of credits compared to the credits you would've gotten from the missions uve refilled.@KBRoller

I've never bought a bundle in my entire time playing the game. I refill missions because I enjoy playing for the missions. Thank you so much for this information, Alex. I had found the outdated information regarding mission resets, so I had been doing that and was like "this does feel bad, I wonder why this is the recommendation", and it all makes sense why now.
As a F2P player it sadly was never feasible to save for bundles even before they took gold out of the collection track, bundles are 99% of the time never worth it and then when its the 1% its still way too much gold for a F2P player to realistically collect, youd HAVE to be on top of data mines and even then its not really guaranteed, now its gonna be straight up impossible for F2P players to ever get bundles, you will hopefully maybe get a somewhat decent bundle once every 6 months like LITERALLY, the bundles just feel so scummy Great video tho Im glad to see beginner guide updates now that the system has massively changed, thank you very much

This was useful even for a veteran like me! It pains me to see though how hard that economy change that came with the spotlight caches hurt f2p players. I feel like that era of "Nice, a new card, can't wait to play it next year" is back again.
F.e.: I skipped Living Tribunal and was able to get Silk, Spider-Ham and Spider-Man 2099 the week they came out, just by buying all the Token Tuesday bundles + the Tokens you got from reserves (I'm pool 3 complete, Tokens went nyoom)
it's actually easier to get them from spotlight cache, as an f2p I was just looking at the new cards coming in, now I get them as well when I pull the cards I want from spotlight cache. I can't say it doesn't have its flaws, but it's much easier to access new cards than before.
@@KRANYEN I agree. Before, you gained more tokens in the regular boxes but it was not that much... The only thing they need to balance now is what comes to Series 5 and Series 4. I think there is too much stuff just dropping in Series 5 and they are not pool dropping stuff. Im excited to get Jeff next week.

Playing this game for a while now and am almost s4 complete while being f2p for the most part (only bought 2 passes) but I never managed to be patient to wait for bundles. I'm currently at 600 gold and if I want a card I need progression or tokens so I could wait 6 months until I get 7k gold (hopefully exaggerated but bundles are expansive) or keep buying credits to get those 400 progression steps done to ensure getting the one card I want from those cache pools that only exist for a week Unless I'm missing how to get gold fast waiting for one bundle seems to not really get me there faster and I honestly don't care about variants if I'm still missing cards

However I would like to know your thoughts on the token Tuesdays and tokens in general because for me it’s been hard to value them since I am pool 3 complete and I do buy the battle pass every month so I’m getting 5 new cards every month due to the progression in the game but I feel like tokens are still valuable I just don’t know how valuable.
As other fellas here I am also a pc-starter, and this is the best vid on economy Ive come across. Id like to hear a comparison for next month's premium rewards track in terms of value, as I didnt fully understand that I would be getting daken+ magneto +iceMan anyway in pool2, ie there is NO "duplicate protection" like in Hearthstone etc. Pls keep covering such topics! I am currently on the fence about getting premium next month if its gonna be the same kinda deal as this. If the lvl50+caches are the same i dont know if its enough value (havent done the math, but would appreciate ur thoughts)
I am CL 7000+ and the season pass has always been the best value in the game. You get the season pass card plus a couple more variants(iceman and magneto variants this month were both great) plus a few mystery variants and a good amount of gold and credits, if you are going to spend any money on the game you should always get the season pass

I mean its helpful but i think that people should do what ever they want with their gold. I have spent gold only on variants and i have 0 regrets. It took me a little bit longer to finish s3 but atleast i got them variants.

I live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and our economy is so broken that I no longer have the luxury to spend money of freemium games like marvel snap. Anything above 8 dollars is not even a connsideration. If Snap wants to profit from the economic despair many of us feel, the price for bundles must be below 10 dollars to even consider as that is a hard cutoff.
You have it great there. I live in South Africa and the US dollar to our Rand is almost R20 to a dollar. Guess what since we are here they give absolutely no leniency. Sometimes a bundle is like a 1/5 th of my salary.

Great vid Alex. I'm a CL 7800 missing 4 cards for complete ( JG, Echo,Howard, LD) I try to only spend on season pass. Since the change, I only spend my gold on 700 variants in store to unlock the 2k tokens. I only use my tokens on series 4 cards, and save SC for series 5. I enjoy this more than just saving gold for token Tuesday.
same, before the massive change with spotlight caches and removing gold from the collector's cache, I would save to buy specific bundles which would give me value and a nice variant, buuuut, with the way it is now, ,most decent bundles have become somewhat catered to whales, so I decided to spend my gold in variants, just like you do
This is a huge question I’ve had and would love your take. Should the base card come with a variant? Example: I don’t have Red Skull, so I buy the bundle so I can start playing with the card. But later I open the base card from a reserve. Is that a desirable user experience? Is there a benefit to things being this way? I’d love to know the community opinion
The fact that the base card is also treated as another variant is what causes this discrepancy. Although undesirable I don't think second dinner will change it anytime soon.
it depends, if you're at the start of pool 3 and don't have that many pool 4/5 cards then no, you'd probably prefer credits to further your collection and get spotlight caches, since those caches are pretty much just gonna give you new cards you don't have instead of duplicates or variants. After a while when you have a lot of pool 4/5 cards and don't care that much about pool 3 cards then you can start buying tokens to get the missing pool 4 cards you couldn't get in spotlight caches (I usually don't suggest buying pool 5 cards because getting duplicates from spotlights gives 1000 tokens regardless of p4 or p5, meaning you're better off buying the pool 4 cards).
It is if you care about tokens. As Alex said in the video, tokens are currently way overvalued due to how hard they get. You should not be spending them on anything less than a series 4/5 card, but just collecting the 3000 for a S4 card via token Tuesday is 4200 gold. Very expensive for what you are getting considering the only other way of getting tokens is randomly getting 100 from a cache (or spending a lot of gold on cosmetics). So if you have the extra gold and have a specific card in mind that you want to get then get them. But it's technically better value to use gold on bundles that provide better CL progression (and thus more cards, especially if just starting out) than just turning it into credits via a bad exchange rate.
@@MrOrdinaryundone the bad exchange rate is better when you have a lot of S4/S5 cards because it simply lets you choose a new one without having to open spotlight caches and risk a duplicate or worse (subjective) a variant. Also you don't have to spend 4200 because at that point in the game you're either getting duplicates from spotlights (meaning another 1k per duplicate) or you're far enough in progression that you've stored at least some tokens. Theoretically speaking you should push spending tokens as far as you can in the future so that you get less duplicates and buy the missing s4/s5 cards but ofc that's a very looong time and it probably doesn't even make that much sense considering that newer cards keep getting added to the game.
Didn't even know I had it in my head old advice. Always have saved gold after I had significant progression, but it would be so much better to have saved that gold now haha
It might be time to break out the spreadsheets and math things out. If the short term goal is speeding up Series 3 completion, gold can be spent on bundles where the ratio is greater than 1.25 credits per gold. For long term purposes or if Series 3 complete, bundles with a better token per gold rate than Token Tuesday is where gold should be used.
Hello Alex! The vid is very informative! However, I just have another question what if you are not a beginner anymore? I think I got 2/3 of the pool 3 cards. Where should I spend my gold?
I'm about as far along as you. I think bundles with high credit values are still great, since completing pool 3 gives you the freedom to play more decks. But Token Tuesday bundles actually got more valuable IMO after the token drop nerf, so they seem like a pretty sensible way to spend gold.

Nonono never buy the upgrades from the store! Always directly upgrade cards!! You will run out of credits really fast once you start upgrading cards to infinity!! Boosters are a dime a dozen, it's the credits that are rarer!!
Bought Hail Hydraulics to get Red Skull and run Typhoid Mary and Sauron. The investment was worth it seeing as I hit Omega for the first time with this new deck.
yeah but reserves only give me tokens and credits, that convert into more credits, but never cards, im still using a dino deck since pool 2, and incomplete destroy since i still havent got venom, but i do have crossbones, or black cat, so i started refilling my missions...nice video, now ill wait and play when my missions are maxed out

How should you use gold if you are at progression level 3,700 range? I still have some series 3 cards left, but am curious if bundles/progression are still supreme vs. getting your preferred variants when they appear in the shop.

As someone who plays since launch i thought refreshing missions was still the way to go for new players. I wonder what's the best way to spend gold for old players now.
I have been spending all my gold on variants, and I’m on collection level 1.1k. Since gold is so hard to come by, I probably will keep spending gold on variants. It has to do with fomo because there are some variants I really want and I know if I pass up on them they won’t appear again for at least a couple months. (You REALLY should be able to pin variants. Idk why you cant, it’s annoying) I may progress a bit slower, but I’m having a good time. How much slower ram I at progressing if I don’t spend any gold on units and bundles?
I've struggled with not buying Variants with gold. I see a variant I like and go oooo I got the gold for that and poof good gone lol. I've had to learn not to buy variants unless it's an amazing one for a card I use a lot.
Save all your gold and use it on tokens. Pick and choose your series 4 and 5 cards with it. Wasting it on credits to get collectors reserves that just have variants that you have, boosters or more credits is dumb. Specifically target cards with tokens or from the free series 3 card per month that are critical for al certain deck.
He talks about new players and for them credits are a lot more valuable.. on the other hand for us late game players who has collected pool 3 cards, tokens are a lot more valuable beceuse we collecting pool 4 & 5 cards, so it all depends in what stage of the game a player is
@@dankokanoti3619 even for new players. It doesnt take long before you get through the guaranteed cards and into collector reserves. Its more important to save up the gold for tokens to get series 4 and 5 cards cause so many of them are critical for decks .
I've been playing for a few months and am still not S3 complete. For new players, following the advice from this video and working your way up the collection track is the right way to go. Getting key S4 or S5 cards is wasted if you don't have the rest of the deck. You also want to start saving up those spotlight caches as soon as you can. For long-time players, targeting specific cards with tokens makes more sense if you don't care about variants and such. Then again, not all people really want to minmax the value of currencies and instead want the cool variants.
@@limegreenpatato then you should focus on getting as much credits as you can because you will finish pool 3 a lot faster and collect a lot of spotlight caches on the way.. Spending gold on tokens is not worth in this stage because decks doesn't funcion without pool 3 cards and you slowing down your progress drasticly
Why is using gold to refill missions a waste Alex? For 120 gold you get 150 credits worth of missions (one normal and one hard), so exactly at the same ratio as buying 1500 credits for 1200 gold from the store. Plus on top of that you progress your season pass, which past lvl 50 can give you even more credits, making the ratio better. There is of course the time spent doing those missions, but if someone wants to play the game anyway, that shouldn't be a factor. Of course bundles can often give better value, but sometimes you're desperate to push your collection just a little bit further right this moment, for example to unlock that last spotlight cache and get that card you really wanted.

I used gold twice. Once I spend 120 gold to buy daily mission and get weekly mission completed that gave me 100 gold back. It was only available solution. So I spent 20 gold. And buying april fool's bundle with Rock was second time. For fun. Otherwise I don't see any value in spending gold right now. E.g. Stengron pack's 7.5k gold costs about 100$ in shop. All You get is progression of 2 collector cashes. 2 cards for 100$. You could get that gold for free, but it is still poor value. Taking in to account You could get the same result by playing and enjoying game for 2-3 weeks. It's like You wanted to visit Disneyland. And You get there. You have a choice walk all day and enjoyed it's experiences, or pay money, sit in golf cart and drive through it in 2 ours, and be done with it. Is faster better?
Great video, but unfortunately the bestest way to use your gold is to buy every single artgerm variants to make your opponent snap before the beauty you're displaying on the board
I just join this season on fully playing this game I in deed use it for the missions because for the season points but I see it's just a wast of money i do some times gold for bundels or a price bundel if it's Tru value if not it's have to be dame good card for me to waste more value for level credits I have see indeed what u need to get cards I really wish I played in the wolverine season and spider verse season but maby I still get a shot later
I'm so pissed off about that awesome Darkhawk variant...thought it might have been put in the super rare pool but my god for 7500 gold its absolutely not worth it...hopefully they change the price of gold but I doubt it

However I would like to know your thoughts on the token Tuesdays and tokens in general because for me it’s been hard to value them since I am pool 3 complete and I do buy the battle pass every month so I’m getting 5 new cards every month due to the progression in the game but I feel like tokens are still valuable I just don’t know how valuable.

As other fellas here I am also a pc-starter, and this is the best vid on economy Ive come across. Id like to hear a comparison for next month's premium rewards track in terms of value, as I didnt fully understand that I would be getting daken+ magneto +iceMan anyway in pool2, ie there is NO "duplicate protection" like in Hearthstone etc. Pls keep covering such topics! I am currently on the fence about getting premium next month if its gonna be the same kinda deal as this. If the lvl50+caches are the same i dont know if its enough value (havent done the math, but would appreciate ur thoughts)

I am CL 7000+ and the season pass has always been the best value in the game. You get the season pass card plus a couple more variants(iceman and magneto variants this month were both great) plus a few mystery variants and a good amount of gold and credits, if you are going to spend any money on the game you should always get the season pass

It's probably a bad idea and very situational but what about using gold on mission refill to get to an extra spotlight cache for the card that I want?
I mean its helpful but i think that people should do what ever they want with their gold. I have spent gold only on variants and i have 0 regrets. It took me a little bit longer to finish s3 but atleast i got them variants.
Picked up the chibi iron man and jane foster bundle. Both are better looking than I expected.... And now I'm playing negative decks.

I live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and our economy is so broken that I no longer have the luxury to spend money of freemium games like marvel snap. Anything above 8 dollars is not even a connsideration. If Snap wants to profit from the economic despair many of us feel, the price for bundles must be below 10 dollars to even consider as that is a hard cutoff.
You have it great there. I live in South Africa and the US dollar to our Rand is almost R20 to a dollar. Guess what since we are here they give absolutely no leniency. Sometimes a bundle is like a 1/5 th of my salary.

What are your thoughts on Token Tuesday bundles for a player working toward Pool 3 completeness? Still missing ~30 pool 3 cards. Is there a more efficient way to spend the same gold?
Great vid Alex. I'm a CL 7800 missing 4 cards for complete ( JG, Echo,Howard, LD) I try to only spend on season pass. Since the change, I only spend my gold on 700 variants in store to unlock the 2k tokens. I only use my tokens on series 4 cards, and save SC for series 5. I enjoy this more than just saving gold for token Tuesday.
Secondary thought on this. If I buy cheap variants, It decreases pulling junk from reserves... 😂
same, before the massive change with spotlight caches and removing gold from the collector's cache, I would save to buy specific bundles which would give me value and a nice variant, buuuut, with the way it is now, ,most decent bundles have become somewhat catered to whales, so I decided to spend my gold in variants, just like you do
This is a huge question I’ve had and would love your take. Should the base card come with a variant? Example: I don’t have Red Skull, so I buy the bundle so I can start playing with the card. But later I open the base card from a reserve. Is that a desirable user experience? Is there a benefit to things being this way? I’d love to know the community opinion
The fact that the base card is also treated as another variant is what causes this discrepancy. Although undesirable I don't think second dinner will change it anytime soon.

it depends, if you're at the start of pool 3 and don't have that many pool 4/5 cards then no, you'd probably prefer credits to further your collection and get spotlight caches, since those caches are pretty much just gonna give you new cards you don't have instead of duplicates or variants. After a while when you have a lot of pool 4/5 cards and don't care that much about pool 3 cards then you can start buying tokens to get the missing pool 4 cards you couldn't get in spotlight caches (I usually don't suggest buying pool 5 cards because getting duplicates from spotlights gives 1000 tokens regardless of p4 or p5, meaning you're better off buying the pool 4 cards).
It is if you care about tokens. As Alex said in the video, tokens are currently way overvalued due to how hard they get. You should not be spending them on anything less than a series 4/5 card, but just collecting the 3000 for a S4 card via token Tuesday is 4200 gold. Very expensive for what you are getting considering the only other way of getting tokens is randomly getting 100 from a cache (or spending a lot of gold on cosmetics). So if you have the extra gold and have a specific card in mind that you want to get then get them. But it's technically better value to use gold on bundles that provide better CL progression (and thus more cards, especially if just starting out) than just turning it into credits via a bad exchange rate.
I believe yes, they are still the best way to get tokens, especially if you don't care about variants and the bundles as shown in this video.
@@MrOrdinaryundone the bad exchange rate is better when you have a lot of S4/S5 cards because it simply lets you choose a new one without having to open spotlight caches and risk a duplicate or worse (subjective) a variant. Also you don't have to spend 4200 because at that point in the game you're either getting duplicates from spotlights (meaning another 1k per duplicate) or you're far enough in progression that you've stored at least some tokens. Theoretically speaking you should push spending tokens as far as you can in the future so that you get less duplicates and buy the missing s4/s5 cards but ofc that's a very looong time and it probably doesn't even make that much sense considering that newer cards keep getting added to the game.

Didn't even know I had it in my head old advice. Always have saved gold after I had significant progression, but it would be so much better to have saved that gold now haha
It might be time to break out the spreadsheets and math things out. If the short term goal is speeding up Series 3 completion, gold can be spent on bundles where the ratio is greater than 1.25 credits per gold. For long term purposes or if Series 3 complete, bundles with a better token per gold rate than Token Tuesday is where gold should be used.

I'm about as far along as you. I think bundles with high credit values are still great, since completing pool 3 gives you the freedom to play more decks. But Token Tuesday bundles actually got more valuable IMO after the token drop nerf, so they seem like a pretty sensible way to spend gold.

Nonono never buy the upgrades from the store! Always directly upgrade cards!! You will run out of credits really fast once you start upgrading cards to infinity!! Boosters are a dime a dozen, it's the credits that are rarer!!
Bought Hail Hydraulics to get Red Skull and run Typhoid Mary and Sauron. The investment was worth it seeing as I hit Omega for the first time with this new deck.
yeah but reserves only give me tokens and credits, that convert into more credits, but never cards, im still using a dino deck since pool 2, and incomplete destroy since i still havent got venom, but i do have crossbones, or black cat, so i started refilling my missions...nice video, now ill wait and play when my missions are maxed out
great work as always but you forgot to go over the value of gold in the buying variants for 700 to get to the 2000 token road. also why are credits are overvalued by the community, i missed it?
Alex yeah darkhawk offer gives less credits but, if i dont own darkhawk doesnt it mean +3000 tokens for me which makes it worth it

I spent my gold every week to buy token, my luck is pretty bad sometimes I didn't get any card from 2000ish credit. So spending more on token I think is a more wise choice for new player

As someone who plays since launch i thought refreshing missions was still the way to go for new players. I wonder what's the best way to spend gold for old players now.

I have been spending all my gold on variants, and I’m on collection level 1.1k. Since gold is so hard to come by, I probably will keep spending gold on variants. It has to do with fomo because there are some variants I really want and I know if I pass up on them they won’t appear again for at least a couple months. (You REALLY should be able to pin variants. Idk why you cant, it’s annoying) I may progress a bit slower, but I’m having a good time. How much slower ram I at progressing if I don’t spend any gold on units and bundles?

I've struggled with not buying Variants with gold. I see a variant I like and go oooo I got the gold for that and poof good gone lol. I've had to learn not to buy variants unless it's an amazing one for a card I use a lot.

Save all your gold and use it on tokens. Pick and choose your series 4 and 5 cards with it. Wasting it on credits to get collectors reserves that just have variants that you have, boosters or more credits is dumb. Specifically target cards with tokens or from the free series 3 card per month that are critical for al certain deck.
He talks about new players and for them credits are a lot more valuable.. on the other hand for us late game players who has collected pool 3 cards, tokens are a lot more valuable beceuse we collecting pool 4 & 5 cards, so it all depends in what stage of the game a player is
@@dankokanoti3619 even for new players. It doesnt take long before you get through the guaranteed cards and into collector reserves. Its more important to save up the gold for tokens to get series 4 and 5 cards cause so many of them are critical for decks .
I've been playing for a few months and am still not S3 complete. For new players, following the advice from this video and working your way up the collection track is the right way to go. Getting key S4 or S5 cards is wasted if you don't have the rest of the deck. You also want to start saving up those spotlight caches as soon as you can.
For long-time players, targeting specific cards with tokens makes more sense if you don't care about variants and such. Then again, not all people really want to minmax the value of currencies and instead want the cool variants.

Spending gold on tokens is not worth in this stage because decks doesn't funcion without pool 3 cards and you slowing down your progress drasticly
Why is using gold to refill missions a waste Alex? For 120 gold you get 150 credits worth of missions (one normal and one hard), so exactly at the same ratio as buying 1500 credits for 1200 gold from the store. Plus on top of that you progress your season pass, which past lvl 50 can give you even more credits, making the ratio better. There is of course the time spent doing those missions, but if someone wants to play the game anyway, that shouldn't be a factor. Of course bundles can often give better value, but sometimes you're desperate to push your collection just a little bit further right this moment, for example to unlock that last spotlight cache and get that card you really wanted.

Becuz you are spending gold to get credits its not the same.missions will automatically refill anyway and you can get credits any way but gold nuh uh

I used gold twice. Once I spend 120 gold to buy daily mission and get weekly mission completed that gave me 100 gold back. It was only available solution. So I spent 20 gold. And buying april fool's bundle with Rock was second time. For fun. Otherwise I don't see any value in spending gold right now. E.g. Stengron pack's 7.5k gold costs about 100$ in shop. All You get is progression of 2 collector cashes. 2 cards for 100$. You could get that gold for free, but it is still poor value. Taking in to account You could get the same result by playing and enjoying game for 2-3 weeks. It's like You wanted to visit Disneyland. And You get there. You have a choice walk all day and enjoyed it's experiences, or pay money, sit in golf cart and drive through it in 2 ours, and be done with it. Is faster better?
Great video, but unfortunately the bestest way to use your gold is to buy every single artgerm variants to make your opponent snap before the beauty you're displaying on the board

I just join this season on fully playing this game I in deed use it for the missions because for the season points but I see it's just a wast of money i do some times gold for bundels or a price bundel if it's Tru value if not it's have to be dame good card for me to waste more value for level credits I have see indeed what u need to get cards I really wish I played in the wolverine season and spider verse season but maby I still get a shot later
I'm so pissed off about that awesome Darkhawk variant...thought it might have been put in the super rare pool but my god for 7500 gold its absolutely not worth it...hopefully they change the price of gold but I doubt it
