Like you said Shakira released two english albums back to back, but instead of this time promoting just the english songs almost all of the singles had translations so she could promote them on both languages. The album was supposed to end at track #9 and then have the 3 translations. She Wolf was released on 9 October 2009, in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Italy, Ireland, the Netherlands and Switzerland. In the rest of Europe and Latin America, the album was released on 12 October, with subsequent releases in Spain, Japan, and Australia. It was scheduled to be released on 13 October in the United States, but was delayed and instead was released on 23 November. The reason for this delay was because Amanda Ghost (President of Epic Records, Shakira's label back then) decided to include the last-minute Timbaland production "Give It Up to Me" on the track list of the US version of the album trying to achieve what they did when they included Hips Dont Lie in OF2. Fans say these long delay in the US version affected the album sales by not take advantage of She Wolfs momentum it being a bigger single than Did it again, the single they used to release the album alongside Give It Up to Me for the US. In 2010, She Wolf was reissued as Loba in Hispanics countries, which features additional remixes of the Spanish-language songs on the original album. Ghost decided that t0he 2nd single Did It Again was going to be released worldwide except for the US, so the US single had as a second single Give It Up To Me. Both singles were released just 10 days apart from each other. Story short Great album, but Amanda Ghost and her team ruined to manage this wonderful era of Shakira. This album was very special for me because was the first when i knew her music when i was 10 years old (2010) remembering when i saw her music video of Gypsy, i didn't know her very well but when she released Waka Waka in the same year, then released Sale el Sol (2011) was when i fell in love with her music, that's because internet became more popular and you could see the music videos now in youtube for example, for me it was far better than Sale el Sol because of the rythms, i always felt that, but everyone have their own tastes hehe
I cant stress enough how much better gypsy (live from paris) is than the studio version... she has the harmonica (its an actual crime thats not on the song), the "a repientete"s, the little fast talking parts... so good

This album was pushed back to include at last minute Give It Up To Me. I think with the exception of She Wolf and Did It Again(though not worldwide) the singles chosen were just not hit-worthy. You mention Britney Spears and I don’t know if the songs you spoke of were produced by Pharrell Williams but she had a few songs on this album produced by him so that’s the similarity you hear.
Loved this release when it came out! I know that you had enjoy this one too! I'm also interested in what you thought about this album during its release in 2009. I didn't know if high school or junior high people listened to this. This was the Lady Gaga copycat phase. Almost every artist immediately did an eletronic album,Carrie Underwood, Beyonce, Christina, Usher, R Kelly, Kelly, Jesse Mccartney. It was a bit much at this time lol. It was really innovative at its time. I remember having Kelis's Acapella, Big Boi's Shutterbug, and Pharell's 2010 release with this album.

She played around with Caribbean, oriental, europop, disco pop, electro pop, samba, etc. She had a lot of fun collaborating with other producers on this album, like Pharrell Williams, The Neptunes and John Hill, among others. Pharrell even left quite a lot of his signature four count start on several songs including Did It Again and Why Wait. Wyclef Jean and Shakira made at least three other songs that we know of after Hips Don't Lie (King & Queen, The Border, Spy). It was also around the same time she collaborated with The Black Eyed Peas for Girl Like Me (which was finally released in 2020). It was obvious where her mind was set, if we were to look at the sound and feel of the last era's single, Las del la Intuicion. Shakira wanted to experiment, but the record studio especially wanted English hits. And that's where the fallout started. After the debacle of Oral Fixation, Vol. 2, her label wanted a sure hit. The album had a weird release schedule, and came in different versions. The Spanish version of the album was of course called Loba, and started off with the Spanish version of the English songs. The English international version was released first and had the second single Did It Again, which also saw the release of the Spanish version Lo Hecho Esta Hecho afterwards. The US version of the album wasn't released until more than a MONTH after it was already available in Europe, Asia, Oceania and Latin America. Well I have to tell you that the official video for "Did it Again" is in my eyes one of her TOP 3 videos ever, it is so beautiful and entertaining, the choreography that she doesn't with the guy IS SIIICK! Its a combination of contemporary dance and capoeira, which is a brazilian martial art. The set up is this hotel room and a sauna with her girlfriends, the colors, picture and texturas are amazing, hope you react to it. The videos for "Give it up to me" and "Gypsy" are sick and gorgeous too and her live performance of "Why Wait" during her "Live from Paris" concert is something else, EPIC! Indeed, all the versions of the album end on track number 9: Mon Amour ... but I really think that if the Spanish versions fit, besides that in case you didn't know she always includes Spanish versions of the singles of its eras in ENGLISH, I agree with you that so many editions because it makes you lose yourself and you don't really know where the album ends but I tell you one thing, the end of the album is definitely with MON AMOUR, what comes after there are Spanish versions, remixes and GIVE IT UP TO ME, I don't even mind remixes what bothers me is that Give it up to me ends up fading and I would have liked another ending but that doesn't matter because if you look at it , the real ending is on track 9 because all versions end there
Hello Sal, Shakira is a great artist and the queen of Latin America, we all love her. I would like to recommend you, if you would like to explore another great Latin American composer Gloria Trevi, she in her golden age was a great exponent of our music and had a great impact on Latin culture, so much so that several media have cataloged her as La Madonna Mexicana ( The Mexican Madonna) for its lyrical and daring content of that time and its somewhat eccentric image. Maybe you would like to explore his magnificent discography. Today she is known as La Suprema Diva del Pop Latino (The Supreme Diva of Latin Pop) or the phoenix of Latin music although her golden age is past. 👑
"Give it up to me" was only released in the US as a single instead of "Did it again/Lo hecho está hecho" (which was released during the same time but in the rest of the world), that's why "Did it again" didn't make it into the charts of the US, 'cause it wasn't a single there. That's also part of why it's placed after the Spanish versions in the album, 'cause "Give it up to me" is not included in the Standard version of the album. The standard version would've ended after the Spanish translations. Every Shakira single has a music video, so yes, MVs from this era are: She Wolf/Loba, Did it Again/Lo Hecho Está Hecho, Give it up to me & Gypsy/Gitana. And lastly, yes, there are many different versions of this album, the standards (She Wolf and Loba, the only difference is the first tracks in Loba are the Spanish ones and the last ones are the English counterparts), then they released all those different versions with different remixes and features that differ from country to country.
I still hate that her record label delayed the release of this album in the US a full month just to include “Give it up to me”, while in the rest of the world the album was released in October and having success with the single She Wolf. They thought “Give it up to me” was going to give Shakira another “Hips Don’t Lie” moment, which it didn’t and having the album released in a busy and very competitive week of November made the album debut at #15. We all thought the third single was going to be “Why Wait/Años Luz” because she performed it a few times while promoting the album, later on tour she completely dismissed “Give it up to me” and went for “Why Wait” to open her show.
What's funny is that I got the deluxe edition whenever it came out and I feel like I didn't like it that much (aside from SheWolf because how can you not like that?) and so I didn't listen to it much. With keeping up with your videos, I listened to the albums again and found that I am really enjoying it now and kept it in my car for many listens. Like, I can't get enough of it now. Also I like the ho in you too hehe (SheWolf does the same to me too). A couple random anecdotes too- 1) until I actually looked at the lyrics for Did It Again on my re-listen recently, j thought the line "I end up choosing wrong" was "I am a choosy mom" which makes no sense and I don't think she even was a mom at that time lol. 2) In the booklet for the album, next to the lyrics for Men in this Town, she writes "Dammit!" next to each iteration of "Damon's not meant for me" and also at the end, next to "It's a suicide waiting, don't decide" she writes "gibberish". I might take pics to show you on Twitter lol.
Something to consider for the next reaction video: The original version of "Waka Waka" isn't included in Sale el Sol (a shame), instead the k-mix is included which is not that good.
This is one of her least loved albums by her fans, this and the namesake, besides being her least successful albums, I personally love it and it is my favorite album of hers, FOR ME, the concept of the album is about the She was a wolf and I think the album has two sides, a synthetic side and a natural side, also sonically, simpler and more natural songs like Gypsy and more synthetic songs like Men in this town, The Spanish versions of She Wolf, It was # 1 in Hot Latin Songs from Billboard for 5 weeks, and those phrases that you read are SUPER iconic here in Latam, I have magnetic stilettos, to lower the fernetics demand, and the choir A SHE WOLF IN THE CLOSET HAS WANT TO LEAVE; AUHHHH ;; LET IT EAT THE NEIGHBORHOOD BEFORE YOU GO TO SLEEP; AHAH; AHAHAH, The Spanish version of Did it again was # 6 in hot Latin songs, the Spanish version of Gypsy was # 6 in hot Latin songs, I also wanted to tell you that I personally count the English and Spanish versions as DIFFERENT SONGS and I count them ALL, I also listen to them and I don't put them one above the other or have to compete, I wanted to tell you that she makes the translations similar but not literal, I count them as different songs because they have some different things, on the bridge of LOBA there is something that is NOT in the English version SHE WOLF, so it is very important to listen to all the versions. I also tell you that this album was made by her at a time when she was constantly fighting with Antonio, (her old partner, who was unfaithful to her, and treated her horrible), on this album she already thought she would end up with him, and that it was reflected in the album and in songs like Mon Amour.
This álbum is something special for me, not her best But I really loved the way she made something different, I also think the album is like incomplete, maybe because of the translations, and the way she wanted to add give it up me like she did with hips don't lie, just to save an album, this time didn't work. Well I have to tell you that the official video for "Did it Again" is in my eyes one of her TOP 3 videos ever, it is so beautiful and entertaining, the choreography that she doesn't with the guy IS SIIICK! Its a combination of contemporary dance and capoeira, which is a brazilian martial art. The set up is this hotel room and a sauna with her girlfriends, the colors, picture and texturas are amazing, hope you react to it. The videos for "Give it up to me" and "Gypsy" are sick and gorgeous too and her live performance of "Why Wait" during her "Live from Paris" concert is something else, EPIC! Indeed, all the versions of the album end on track number 9: Mon Amour ... but I really think that if the Spanish versions fit, besides that in case you didn't know she always includes Spanish versions of the singles of its eras in ENGLISH, I agree with you that so many editions because it makes you lose yourself and you don't really know where the album ends but I tell you one thing, the end of the album is definitely with MON AMOUR, what comes after there are Spanish versions, remixes and GIVE IT UP TO ME, I don't even mind remixes what bothers me is that Give it up to me ends up fading and I would have liked another ending but that doesn't matter because if you look at it , the real ending is on track 9 because all versions end there

I would like to recommend you, if you would like to explore another great Latin American composer Gloria Trevi, she in her golden age was a great exponent of our music and had a great impact on Latin culture, so much so that several media have cataloged her as La Madonna Mexicana ( The Mexican Madonna) for its lyrical and daring content of that time and its somewhat eccentric image. "Give it up to me" was only released in the US as a single instead of "Did it again/Lo hecho está hecho" (which was released during the same time but in the rest of the world), that's why "Did it again" didn't make it into the charts of the US, 'cause it wasn't a single there. That's also part of why it's placed after the Spanish versions in the album, 'cause "Give it up to me" is not included in the Standard version of the album. The standard version would've ended after the Spanish translations.
Every Shakira single has a music video, so yes, MVs from this era are: She Wolf/Loba, Did it Again/Lo Hecho Está Hecho, Give it up to me & Gypsy/Gitana.
And lastly, yes, there are many different versions of this album, the standards (She Wolf and Loba, the only difference is the first tracks in Loba are the Spanish ones and the last ones are the English counterparts), then they released all those different versions with different remixes and features that differ from country to country.

I still hate that her record label delayed the release of this album in the US a full month just to include “Give it up to me”, while in the rest of the world the album was released in October and having success with the single She Wolf. They thought “Give it up to me” was going to give Shakira another “Hips Don’t Lie” moment, which it didn’t and having the album released in a busy and very competitive week of November made the album debut at #15. We all thought the third single was going to be “Why Wait/Años Luz” because she performed it a few times while promoting the album, later on tour she completely dismissed “Give it up to me” and went for “Why Wait” to open her show.

What's funny is that I got the deluxe edition whenever it came out and I feel like I didn't like it that much (aside from SheWolf because how can you not like that?) and so I didn't listen to it much. With keeping up with your videos, I listened to the albums again and found that I am really enjoying it now and kept it in my car for many listens. Like, I can't get enough of it now.
Also I like the ho in you too hehe (SheWolf does the same to me too). A couple random anecdotes too- 1) until I actually looked at the lyrics for Did It Again on my re-listen recently, j thought the line "I end up choosing wrong" was "I am a choosy mom" which makes no sense and I don't think she even was a mom at that time lol.
2) In the booklet for the album, next to the lyrics for Men in this Town, she writes "Dammit!" next to each iteration of "Damon's not meant for me" and also at the end, next to "It's a suicide waiting, don't decide" she writes "gibberish". I might take pics to show you on Twitter lol.

This is one of her least loved albums by her fans, this and the namesake, besides being her least successful albums, I personally love it and it is my favorite album of hers, FOR ME, the concept of the album is about the She was a wolf and I think the album has two sides, a synthetic side and a natural side, also sonically, simpler and more natural songs like Gypsy and more synthetic songs like Men in this town, The Spanish versions of She Wolf, It was # 1 in Hot Latin Songs from Billboard for 5 weeks, and those phrases that you read are SUPER iconic here in Latam, I have magnetic stilettos, to lower the fernetics demand, and the choir A SHE WOLF IN THE CLOSET HAS WANT TO LEAVE; AUHHHH ;; LET IT EAT THE NEIGHBORHOOD BEFORE YOU GO TO SLEEP; AHAH; AHAHAH, The Spanish version of Did it again was # 6 in hot Latin songs, the Spanish version of Gypsy was # 6 in hot Latin songs, I also wanted to tell you that I personally count the English and Spanish versions as DIFFERENT SONGS and I count them ALL, I also listen to them and I don't put them one above the other or have to compete, I wanted to tell you that she makes the translations similar but not literal, I count them as different songs because they have some different things, on the bridge of LOBA there is something that is NOT in the English version SHE WOLF, so it is very important to listen to all the versions. This álbum is something special for me, not her best But I really loved the way she made something different, I also think the album is like incomplete, maybe because of the translations, and the way she wanted to add give it up me like she did with hips don't lie, just to save an album, this time didn't work.
