In my Prime 4 When i down the volume fader jogwheel light not going white ...i seen in ur video time 9:20 to 9:33 its working so, pls help how can i fix it in my prime 4. Pls reply
I've owned a Pioneer - SX1, SX2, SZ1, Numark - NS7II, Stanton - SCS.4DJ, and both the Traktor S4 and Traktor S8. THIS thing has made me a Denon Convert in totality. The Audio-Out SMOKES every rig I've ever owned or played with. I even prefer it to the NXS 2k setups I normally get stuck with in-house. It's so damned beastmode it's almost criminal. I LOVE my Prime 4 dude.
How is the reliability? I remember the old Android phones had everything, but crashed half the time. I honestly would have gotten this thing if it wasnt for the small ass jogwheels and the computer software which seemed a bit behind.
Everyone who still wants to use samples, here's my trick for you: You can drag your whole samples in a DAW (Audacity is for free) to a song (leave some space between them) and mark the individual samples with hotcues. Now you can load this track into a deck you aren't using at the moment and you have a "Sampler".
This is FAR from "Your Trick" dude. I've done this since I bought the DDJ-SX 1 in 2015. It's a standard trick for DJ's to drop in samples and branding-bombs...

One thing I'd LOVE to see which you already touched on slightly is the ability to add Pad FX. This would negate the need for a laptop for me completely. If you could map your choice of FX to the pads via software or through the controller itself - this would set it apart from everything else. Amazing video btw!
Excellent and comprehensive review of this unit. I tried waiting for the S4 but I'm pretty sure that thing won't be in stores for the next 2 years. The Prime 4 looks amazing. I like what Denon is coming with.

By far the best in-depth review and instructional video of of the Prime 4. Better than the Official Denon guide videos. BTW the prime software is also improving big time. It now analyzes tracks better than Serato and Reckordbox.
Samples (Like Serato DJ has) would be great! I already own the MCX 8000 and the main reason I bought was to use it without a laptop. This new unit is light years ahead of the 8000. Now if they can bring the Engine Prime software up to speed...
Very thorough and extensive review, this kit looks amazing! I am always teetering on the edge of buying a new controller but always seem to be waiting for the next innovation. Will there be a version of this coming with motorised jog wheels? To me that is the deal breaker as I'm a scratch DJ and want that feel. Otherwise it looks great. Only other feature I feel could be implemented is a way of raising the screen into a "hovering" position somehow above the mixer. Some type of solidly built riser mechanism to bring the screen up closer. I'm tall and can imagine having backache after spinning on this for 4 hours which is my standard set length (or longer!) When I DJ at the moment my laptop is set up so I'm not hunched over to look at it and select tracks. If they could get latency down to zero, a wireless controller would be even better. Could that bring cost down? Remove the screen and allow a tablet to control it? Just a thought. Great review!
Honestly this is the best review I have seen of this product. Everything about this looks amazing except for the jog Wheels. If they could put jog wheels on this like pioneer put on the DDJ 1000 I would be all over it
In a firmware update, for someone who incorporates live musicians and singers without having to hook in an external mixer it would be amazing if those effects engines could be used for other effects than echo such as delay/reverb, to add to the instruments. I’m sure that a firmware update could allow that mic to dip into those effects that would be regularly used on a Yamaha MG mixer and save the additional setup. Amazing product.
Please denon don’t leave me out in the cold like you did with the MCX 8000 when it comes to future updates... please release necessary updates regularly...I am a loyal in music customer practically had every controller you guys released also a proud owner of the rane 12 and 72
Love this unit...1 feature I'd like to see as a Serato DJ user is the ability to turn the waveform colors. I'm not a fan of Denon's color choices for those and I'd like a more familiar look if possible. Other than that..I can't wait to try this thing out at some point.
I'd like to see a record level meter on the touch screen. When I record on the Prime 4 the recording levels go up and down. Would be nice to see it on the screen as I'm recording mixes.
Is there a way to alter the bpm of the effects with like a tap bpm button like you would find on a separate mixer? In case the unit reads the bpm of a track wrongly etc
You can manually edit tracks via Engine Prime (I recommend the beta version, actually) on a laptop, then connect to your P4 and drag and drop to your main source (I have a 1TB 2.5" SATA drive installed in my P4). If you know Serato and prefer it, the P4 is Serato compatible and you can load everything you've ever edited in Serato into the P4 unit with all of your preferences applied.
After testing The Denon Prime 4 for a couple of days I have to say it's not ready for professional use. The Prime 4 is undoubtedly a beautiful well thought and engineered piece of hardware. But the software / firmware is way behind its potential. (Prime 4 V.1.3.2 Engine Prime 1.3.1) 1. you can't pre listen to tracks while browsing in lists 2. Managing library is just a nightmare you have to create crates manually step by step in order to reflect your file folders. 3. there is no way that the prime engine would monitor folders and reanalyze when ever you change stuff in your folders. 4. When you browse in folders at the prime 4 the prime engine rendered tracks don't show any id tags or artwork. All those points are a no brainer with Traktor S4 Thats why I won't go on stage with prime 4 and stick to my S4 until Denon get this right. For the fact they claim to bring the "Most advanced Dj system" to the market, this is a disappointment big time. I just can't understand how Denon as a really experienced company build such a beautiful device and screwing it with the software at the same time.
Hi bro .. I saw the light in the middle left and right out put are on and binking all the time that cool.. Why my denon prine 4 why don't see the light is on.. Something on my setting.. Please help me out i new on DJ's... Thanks have a wonderful day
Please, all manufactures should deeply consider a display output in these flagship consoles. I am 57 and still playing, but sight gets worse time by time, and the possibility having an wider monitor would be great. My setup includes a 27 inch touch screen monitor.
The engine Prime program is the question and it always has been with Denon time will be the true review on this unit my biggest concern for me would be the screen its nice that you can move the screen but I hope Denon used a good quality ribbon cable cause many of them dont hold up to well after being flexed over time it will be getting move a lot doing mobile gigs.
i think this is an awesome looking unit. however for the most part pioneer is the club standard.. this unit looks pretty large - might or not be heavy -- however if i have a gig at the local club -- am i going to lug this thing around - or would i just make my rekord box usb stick for nexus? not knocking this product at all its sick... i wish this around a couple years back!
I'm having a blast with my Prime 4. But one thing I haven't been able to find if there is a vinyl stop mode that I can setup on the play/pause button. Can someone let me know.
I’ll be getting my prime 4 next week my SSD drive will be in tmrw. I’m coming from Traktor and all of my music is on a external drive. I bought the adapter for the new SSD hard drive. Can I just click and drag my whole collection to the new drive?
Hello! I need your opinion.. I have a roland dj 505 and I have some issues with it (known roland play/pauce bug) and I can't find a way to fix it. Shall I buy a MacBook pro 2018 (that has some issues with serato) and stay with the roland controller or buy a prime 4?? Is it reliable enough? Does it have any issues and does it get hot?
I got to use this thing and I was super excited about it but I ended up kind of hating it. Its super small, I feel like it should have been bigger or it seems bigger, and the operating system it uses is pretty weird. Its not super user friendly, it would probably be easier to plug a keyboard into it. I feel like this controller is for a very small niche of people that there is almost no point in making it. Eventually controllers like this might be the standard but for now im gonna stick with my laptop and controller.
Damn man what on earth are you rambling on about? Niche?? This thing has everything a DJ needs and more. Super small? Damn man what you on. Yup I think you need to stick ti your DDJ-100 or mix track
Hey man, do you know of any similar stand-alone units that have stems as a performance function? I want to get away from software but having stems on VDJ has been so useful I can’t imagine leaving them behind lol

Thank you so much for this tutorial! Going to be doing an unboxing as soon as I get mine! Very detailed video on the ins and outs of this new powerhouse controller!
So here's the deal. You CAN use rekordbox to prepare your tracks? I really don't like Engine Prime but rekordbox is great. This controller is all I need but I really dont want to use it with Engine Prime. TLDR: Can you use rekordbox to prepare your tracks for Denon Prime 4?
Niko Murtomäki I’m not totally sure but I remember seeing on Denon website that it was possible to import some things from Serato and Rekordbox, so you probably should have look at this
Bom dia meu amigo. Teria um tutorial dela toda em português ae não. Seria uma boa viu. Pq no Brasil tem bastante dessas controladora dennon prime 4 👆🏻🙄🤔
I don’t know if anyone will see this but can I Use A ethernet cable to connect to the internet with the Prime 4? And if I can it doesn’t give me any option
Does anyone else have problems with the crossfader mine goes from its being loud and clear to when I move it towards the middle it’s lowers and then it gets louder again towards the other side and I checked the knob on the front so it isn’t that
EvilFox99 i got mine for free lol i stole it from a local music shop when the seller stepped out to the restroom during a demo. Never went back to that shop ever since.
This is nice but Denon needs to fix that software I mean I tried playing on the Prime set up and the bpm’s are all over the place they need to get it together no matter how nice the hardware is if the software sucks u basically got nothing
They are working on the software. But no software is perfect, and i have them all. And after using all of them Serato, Traktor, Virtual dj, Prime. The one that has the least issues is Virtual Dj. I Play every weekend, i use video and karaoke and Virtual Dj Hands down does what i need all the time with no crashing. Virutal dj has constant updates with new features and fixes that us DJ report to Virtual and they listen. Just like Denon listens to dj suggestions, which is why this machine is out. I will be getting this machine but i will have my laptop connected to one of the line inputs with virutal dj waiting just in case prime lets me down. Every DJ is different so what works for some does not work for others. But in the end we all figure a way to use what works best in our situations. Being mobile and not a club dj, virtual is the most flexible for me, so i hope i can get Prime to work in my favor. Except for the video and karaoke part i will still need Virtual DJ for that.
Djernie T the problem with Prime is not about being stable it’s bpm algorithm detection for open format is horrible trust me I had the Prime setup and was considering buying this when it was announce. But for a dj that plays latin and hip hop and reggae etc. It’s just not there, and this problem goes back to atleast 2 years and Denon does nothing about it. What good is great hardware if it’s unusable? This is great if you’re a house dj but not open format. Maybe they should’ve made a deal with Virtual dJ to be able to use their bpm algorithm that would’ve solved this issue
I will stop by and play on the sc5000's at the guitar center and see if i can duplicate what your saying. I had not noticed it the last time i was there mixing on them. i usually beat match by sound so maybe thats why i didnt notice.
I believe the latest releases of firmware allow for onboard updates, but you'll need a computer to get the Prime 4 onto a version that supports this feature!
If they add the ability to put more BPM counters all over this thing, I hope they allow the ability to hide and remove some of this visual "cheat" or "training wheels" stuff from the displays everywhere. Some of us want less visual info and customization in that direction. Having the effects rotary encoders notched wouldn't reduce the number of effects you could scroll through any more than notches reduces the number of tracks in a list in the browser the main encoder can scroll through. I presume they didn't notch them so they could optionally be used for continuous functions. I actually think this is underpriced. Should have been priced at US2000 or should have just been a Prime 2. It's overly undercutting the SC5000 and X1800, especially after they dropped the price on them already. Not a good precedent towards their newly-acquired early adopters on either behavior, as they mitigate the risk of an early purchase with the potential resale value... not to mention buyer's remorse later when there's suddenly a cheaper alternative that does many of the same things.
Pioneer then stumble into the room with the XDJ XZ 🤣 a 4 channel “cough,” 2 channel stand alone, with a screen that’s been up cycled from a Nokia phone.

Only other feature I feel could be implemented is a way of raising the screen into a "hovering" position somehow above the mixer.
Some type of solidly built riser mechanism to bring the screen up closer. I'm tall and can imagine having backache after spinning on this for 4 hours which is my standard set length (or longer!)
When I DJ at the moment my laptop is set up so I'm not hunched over to look at it and select tracks. If they could get latency down to zero, a wireless controller would be even better. Could that bring cost down? Remove the screen and allow a tablet to control it? Just a thought. Great review!
Honestly this is the best review I have seen of this product. Everything about this looks amazing except for the jog Wheels. If they could put jog wheels on this like pioneer put on the DDJ 1000 I would be all over it
Yeah the jogwheels are weak to say the least lol. Its like how can you have such a nice rig and have such tiny jogwheels?
In a firmware update, for someone who incorporates live musicians and singers without having to hook in an external mixer it would be amazing if those effects engines could be used for other effects than echo such as delay/reverb, to add to the instruments. I’m sure that a firmware update could allow that mic to dip into those effects that would be regularly used on a Yamaha MG mixer and save the additional setup. Amazing product.
Great suggestion for a Prime 2! A more mobile version with still all the great features for mobile Dj’s
Please denon don’t leave me out in the cold like you did with the MCX 8000 when it comes to future updates... please release necessary updates regularly...I am a loyal in music customer practically had every controller you guys released also a proud owner of the rane 12 and 72
They updated the mcx8000 in November. Its now at V2.1
only took them 2 years for an update
Thank you for your review the best one yet mine is all paid for just waiting for shipment
Bought the sx3 but when the warrenty ends this controller or the updated version will be my next purchase
Love this unit...1 feature I'd like to see as a Serato DJ user is the ability to turn the waveform colors. I'm not a fan of Denon's color choices for those and I'd like a more familiar look if possible. Other than that..I can't wait to try this thing out at some point.
Hello please where can I see the advertisement of wearecrossfader where Jamie Hartley is explaining crossfader
I'd like to see a record level meter on the touch screen. When I record on the Prime 4 the recording levels go up and down. Would be nice to see it on the screen as I'm recording mixes.
13:15 Yes please repport it to dennon. I thinks it isn't complicated to patch that :-)
Is there a way to alter the bpm of the effects with like a tap bpm button like you would find on a separate mixer? In case the unit reads the bpm of a track wrongly etc
You can manually edit tracks via Engine Prime (I recommend the beta version, actually) on a laptop, then connect to your P4 and drag and drop to your main source (I have a 1TB 2.5" SATA drive installed in my P4). If you know Serato and prefer it, the P4 is Serato compatible and you can load everything you've ever edited in Serato into the P4 unit with all of your preferences applied.
Cracking review Jamie! Thank you for posting 👍😁
Couldn't the click button still have unlimited effects?
After testing The Denon Prime 4 for a couple of days I have to say it's not ready for professional use. The Prime 4 is undoubtedly a beautiful well thought and engineered piece of hardware. But the software / firmware is way behind its potential. (Prime 4 V.1.3.2 Engine Prime 1.3.1)
1. you can't pre listen to tracks while browsing in lists
It’s way ready now thought ain’t it lol
Hi bro .. I saw the light in the middle left and right out put are on and binking all the time that cool.. Why my denon prine 4 why don't see the light is on.. Something on my setting.. Please help me out i new on DJ's... Thanks have a wonderful day
Thanks for your review.
Just got my prime4
Will you recommend it.. i need a mixer
just bought it and learning, nice video ...
Fantastic, detailed review mate... You've convinced me to upgrade from my Pioneer XDJ-RX to this! Off to pre-order one now :)
The xdj-rx is amazing though why do u need more
@@3star2nr Touch screen... 4 channel mixer... More effects... Need I go on?
@@WeDoTechdotNet do you actually need any of that to get the job done
@@3star2nr It should perhaps allow you to provide a better job... or at least make the job easier... so why not?
3star2nr fuck off dude let him buy what he needs. Damn mind your business.
Zone out volume should be adjusted in the settings so there are no accidental bumps mid performance.
Please, all manufactures should deeply consider a display output in these flagship consoles. I am 57 and still playing, but sight gets worse time by time, and the possibility having an wider monitor would be great. My setup includes a 27 inch touch screen monitor.
Does Talkover change the recording level? I want to use that when live streaming but I want to record my mix. Also, does the mic go to the recording?
The engine Prime program is the question and it always has been with Denon time will be the true review on this unit my biggest concern for me would be the screen its nice that you can move the screen but I hope Denon used a good quality ribbon cable cause many of them dont hold up to well after being flexed over time it will be getting move a lot doing mobile gigs.
yep
Just bought the prime 4, coming from a mcx8000... Let's see what she can do!
@steven s she's an absolute beast... Highly recommended 👍
can we switch from Serato to USB drive or the other way without stop the music or restart the Prime 4? Thanks 🙏
i think this is an awesome looking unit. however for the most part pioneer is the club standard.. this unit looks pretty large - might or not be heavy -- however if i have a gig at the local club -- am i going to lug this thing around - or would i just make my rekord box usb stick for nexus? not knocking this product at all its sick... i wish this around a couple years back!
Would it be better to get 2 Denon sc5000's and a mixer?
I'm having a blast with my Prime 4. But one thing I haven't been able to find if there is a vinyl stop mode that I can setup on the play/pause button. Can someone let me know.
I’m sure you found it now 2 years on? I’d not let me know
I’ll be getting my prime 4 next week my SSD drive will be in tmrw.
Finally been waiting
Can you please explain Move Cue to Loop In, Time Format, On Air Mode, and Pad Lock more?
Dope! What are all the programs we use with this, like Serato?
DJ-LLaMMA here quick question...
DDJ or CDJ or PDJ? which is best for a crossmix between most BPMs?
Great review in depth ... thanks
Well made video, very talented.
Hey man, do you know of any similar stand-alone units that have stems as a performance function? I want to get away from software but having stems on VDJ has been so useful I can’t imagine leaving them behind lol
None as of yet!
In my Prime 4 When i down the volume fader jogwheel light not going white ...i seen in ur video time 9:20 to 9:33 its working so, pls help how can i fix it in my prime 4. Pls reply
Helloo , which one is better.....
Numark or Denon
Can you do instant doubles?
Thank you so much for this tutorial! Going to be doing an unboxing as soon as I get mine! Very detailed video on the ins and outs of this new powerhouse controller!
Sometimes I think it's a pity Pioneer is club leading. Look at this thing man, it's amazing and for the money a no-brainer.
Amazing review 👍
That's a beast.
Meanwhile in Pioneer Dj headquarters: *panic mode*.
Niko Murtomäki I’m not totally sure but I remember seeing on Denon website that it was possible to import some things from Serato and Rekordbox, so you probably should have look at this
@@zaaajac Yeah, thanks! I just love Rekordbox as a software and thoroughly hate Engine Prime so preparing my music through Rekordbox would be great.
@@nikomurtomaki3504 Yes, rekorbox USBs work fine on this :)
@@Glitchesftw oh god, its a buy then. will go to the nearest store to buy one :D
Niko Murtomäki why would you want to use this as a midi controller when its standalone. Makes no sense.
As A mobilDJ i often get request on songs i dot have. today i just bye them and download but what du you do when playing on a denon DJ prime 4 ?
I'm going to keep my laptop with me and run it in one of the back RCA plug ins to keep spotify on incase of request. Easy...
You can use tidal
Streaming is available
Denon Prime 4 or XDJ-RX2? (2 channels use primarily)
Bom dia meu amigo. Teria um tutorial dela toda em português ae não. Seria uma boa viu. Pq no Brasil tem bastante dessas controladora dennon prime 4 👆🏻🙄🤔
is engine scanning key as camelot or you have them scanned before in mixed in key?
engine scans key and you can have it listed as camelot is want
@@kraalwig thank you !
Nice review!
I don’t know if anyone will see this but can I Use A ethernet cable to connect to the internet with the Prime 4? And if I can it doesn’t give me any option
JUST GOT MY DENON DJ P4, CAN I USE THE SK hynix Gold S31 1TB 3D NAND 2.5 inch SATA III Internal SSD
Great review, great controller, consider me converted.
Does anyone else have problems with the crossfader mine goes from its being loud and clear to when I move it towards the middle it’s lowers and then it gets louder again towards the other side and I checked the knob on the front so it isn’t that
What's the pricing going to be like on this unit?
I paid £1469 for mine
I had not noticed it the last time i was there mixing on them. i usually beat match by sound so maybe thats why i didnt notice.
its fixed
Also pls can you give me a few sites so i can mix on my laptop whilst i wait for an answer?
Awesome review.. I want one!! Will I be able to continue using Serato DVS or any DVS vinyl set up? 🕊
Yes
are you not able to display your BPMs with 2 decimals, instead of just 1?
Question can do a software update my denon board?with no computer?
I believe the latest releases of firmware allow for onboard updates, but you'll need a computer to get the Prime 4 onto a version that supports this feature!
Fanstastic consolle! !!! Dj max from italy! !
Nice kit 4 channels but I keep my rx2 and keep waiting for the next evolution
🤭🤭🤭🤭 they've failed
bruh do you know how to change the waveform form blue to rgb on xdj rr , screen wave rgb
thanxxxxxxxxxxxx
J'M琉阳 you change that on your USB settings when putting tracks on your USB (where you name it etc.)
Oh , iam gonna buy this , cuz i saw you and i trust you
Having the click on the FX button would not limit the number of FX.
The jog is better than xdj rx2?
Can you connect like 2 SC500s so you have 4 decks and not 2 with 2 layers?
Yes, just plug the two sc5000 units in the line input on the back of the machine then on the front switch to the line input.
Or get 2 LC6000s way cheaper
Pioneer then stumble into the room with the XDJ XZ 🤣 a 4 channel “cough,” 2 channel stand alone, with a screen that’s been up cycled from a Nokia phone.
i know hey, the fucking screen is an absolute joke when compared to the denon. Which is the reason im going to end up buying the pime 4
This 100%! Also they RAM and CPU are pathetic. The units (XZ and RX2) are so weak, that they cant even beat jump further than 8, hahaha!
Does it play videos?
