@istianlife The rich man went to hell because of his unbelief, not because he never helped Lazarus and Lazarus went to heaven because of his belief on what the Lord Jesus Christ did for Lazarus on the cross for his sins, not because Lazarus never stole from the rich man just to have his needs during his lifetime or else, God's word would contradict what Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 3:5-7, Romans 4:5-7, and Galatians 2:16 says.
Great to see such a young with intuitive wisdom. This parable of the rich man and Lazarus, “without a parable did He speak to them” had nothing to do with a hell or eternal punishment. When these mysteries of His Word were spoken, Jesus would always leave clues. Who was the man with no name, who had five brothers, who was the man with a name, or what prophecy was fulfilled when the dogs came? These clues make It crystal clear what the message of Jesus was. From the pulpit today most, but not all, teach this parable with this implication. If you don’t believe you will burn in hell forever like the rich man. This young man didn't learn these truths from the pulpit.
Listening to this young man was an absolute joy! Not only his intelligent explanation of the parable of the Rich Man & Lazarus but his entire delivery. A pure joy! Thanks so much!

@@sequencerman5 So you're saying that Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 3:5-7, Romans 4:5-7, and Galatians 2:16 are discipleship/service scriptures/verses in the KJV bible?
@@Bentoto97 I have no idea what you mean with the above Bible texts. I said that you have clearly missed the point of the parable of the Rich Man & Lazarus. Perhaps you should watch it ...again?

LOL, it's was a PARABLE about the Israelites and the pharisees(The Rich Man) being swapped out for the gentiles(Lazarus, who's outside the gate, starving for the word) It's CLEARLY not about the afterlife as the background of the story is basically the pagan Greek and Babylonian view of the afterlife. Both of which the Hellenized Jews were quite familiar with. Do you HONESTLY think Jesus was endorsing the PAGAN's beliefs about the afterlife, even though there is not one mention of anything even remotely similar to this system in the Old Testament? The OT is FILLED with verses saying we are dead, not conscious, no activity, no thoughts, no memory, no love, no worship of God. They mention over and over they will sleep in the dust of the ground UNTIL they are awakened by their Lord. Earlier in Luke, John the Baptist told the Pharisees not to brag about being children of ABRAHAM (the only other named character in the parable) because God could raise children of Abraham from stones. JUST before THIS parable it specifically mentioned the Pharisees were mocking Jesus, because they were lovers of money. They also thought that being rich was a sign of God's favor, rather than a sign of their own corruption. This is why it specifically mentions the rich man had 5 brothers. Judah had 5 full blood brothers. The jews would know that. It's also a silly detail to put into the story if it's REALLY about the after life. Also, WHAT did Lazarus do to deserve heaven? He was just poor, THAT'S IT! Also what did the rich man do that deserved hell? He was rich and didn't help a homeless man. By that logic we are ALL going to hell. We are ALL rich compared to 90% of the world's population and there are homeless all around us. How many have YOU taken into your home, fed, and paid for their medical care? Also unless you want to believe that we get to be serenaded by the screams of those burning in hell for ALL eternity, you better believe it's a parable. IF Abraham and the rich man could hold a conversation across this impassable chasm, then you could DEFINITLEY hear the screams of BILLIONS of people screaming in agony. BECAUSE people are so foolish to actually think this fantastical story is REAL, they actually thought that being poor was a virtue, being rich is a sin AND the joys of heaven will be ALL the more sweat when contrasted with the screams we hear from those in hell. The parable was ABOUT the rich man, NOT Lazarus and Abraham, so no, he didn't give a proper name for the main character in the parable and who it was written for (the pharisees). Note Jesus ALSO mentioned they had the LAW and the prophets. Well WHO had those? Oh yeah, the Jews!. Notice in the story, Lazarus is NOT raised up, but in the real world Jesus DOES raise up a man named Lazarus, and not only was his warning, spoken through Abraham, that EVEN if someone was raised from the dead they STILL wouldn't believe, in the real world, when Lazarus was raised up, the Pharisees(who the parable was written to) plotted to kill Jesus. Sure enough, the jews rejected Jesus and the Gospel, salvation and the word of God in the New Testament) when to the gentiles, while the Jews have suffered in literal fire, from the burning of Jerusalem to the Holocost. NOW you see why that imagery made a perfect backdrop for the story, the warning, and the fate of those WHO the parable was written to.

What happened to "Today thou shalt be with me in Paradise"? or "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord"? No mention of repenting and asking Christ to save you. No mention of the blood of Christ or "....without the shedding of blood there is no remission (or forgiveness) of sins".
There is no punctuation in the Greek text, they inserted a comma in there, but where they put it directly contradicts Christ's own words when he was raised up and told Mary not to touch Him as He had not been to the Father yet. "I tell you the truth today, you WILL be with me in paradise." Is VERY different than: "I tell you the truth, TODAY you will be with me in paradise." We KNOW the second one is incorrect as it directly contradicts the entire Bible and Jesus own words after His resurrection. I will show a list of scriptures that plainly state the opposite of what the second punctuation option would mean. You didn't even quote your second passage correctly, but don't worry, almost nobody does. It's THE most misquoted scripture in the Bible. There's a reason for that. It's not rocket science. So why does everyone do it? Because then it couldn't be used as a "proof" text. First, the word is AND not IS, second, they always quote it in the middle of the phrase, which totally eliminates the context. Paul was just going off saying how we DON'T want to be UNCLOTHED (not having a body) but to BE clothed (having a body). He's literally trying to debunk their Greek Plato theology about some immortal soul that can exist without a body. Remember, he's not reaching out to the Jews, he's reaching out to the Gentiles, mostly those with Greek heritage. So, in that passage he sums it up and says, "we are of good courage, I say, and prefer RATHER to be absent from THIS body AND to be present (or at home) with the Lord." He's saying this mortal earthly body is dying and decaying and we long to be clothed with the new immortal spiritual body, which we don't get until Christ's coming. But notice they chose to translate the Greek Ho(this, that, the) as THE which makes no sense when he's talking about TWO different bodies. Whenever you are talking about two similar things and you want to refer to one of them, you would say THIS one or THAT one, not THE one. That would be like you showing your husband or BF two dresses and asking if he likes this one or that one, and he says, oh, definitely get THE one. Now ultimately it doesn't matter, as it's clear from the contexts, he's talking about THIS body, but by saying THe body, it opens up the possibility that we can exist without ANY body, when we can't. As you will see below, when we die, our spirit(the breath of God spoken about in Genesis when He created Adam and breathed His breath(spirit) of life into the body He formed, goes back to God and our body, back to the dust. So, WE aren't ever really absent from THIS body, as we perish with it, until we are raised up in our new body made from heaven AT Christ's return.
Did Jesus tell the truth in Luke 16:19-31?? Yes or no!! Matthew 5:37 All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ anything beyond this comes from the evil one.
Paul is speaking concerning the new bodies we will receive when Jesus returns and we will no longer be bound to these sinful bodies subject to death. 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17 For this, we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord, himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Remember too that the name lazarus is translated from eliezor, who was Abrahams gentile servant who was going to inherit his wealth if Abraham didnt have an heir.
I just read that chapter this morning! I believe it’s a real event because I listen to Chuck Missler commentary on it. Available on UA-cam I highly recommend it. It’s called heaven and hell. Anyway he says he believes it’s a real event because it’s the only time Jesus uses real names. I agree and hold the same thought. Looking forward to seeing what everyone else thinks. Have a blessed day everyone
Friend, I must tell you that just because Jesus uses names doesn't mean that a story is an actual event. In fact, would you be surprised to know that the names Jesus used in the parable are symbolic of the Jewish nation known as the rich man, and Lazarus in the story represents Jesus? Will you let me explain further?
Well i need to do more information about this . Because i dont know enough about that story to give an opinion . But i do know there is different degrees of punishment in Hell . For example people that did very bad things constantly will get a more harsh punishment . The Bible explains that somewhere.
@@dude9318 no friend, there isn’t different levels of hell, but different degrees of punishment, the text you are looking for is Luke 12:47. Where Jesus says some will be beaten with more stripes than others referring to different levels of punishment not different levels of hell, there only one hell in which all the wicked will be cast into that’s the lake of fire in which many will be rewarded based on their works depending on their sins the punishment will be more severe than others.
Our Eternal Dwelling (Romans 8:18-27) 1For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven: 3If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked. 4For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life. 5Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit. 6Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: 7(For we walk by faith, not by sight:) 8We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. 9Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. 10For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad
the story of Lazarus and the rich man I will explain the PARABLE verse by verse. remember it is a PARABLE Luke 16:19-31 19 “There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. 20 At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores 21 and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores. why is it important how the rich man was dressed? "dressed in purple and fine linen" The high priest of the order or the sons of Levi as they were assigned to be Israel's Priests. Lazarus represents the Gentile people going to Israel in hopes of receiving some of God's blessings, the dogs represent mockers The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24 So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’ both died 2000 years ago the time of Jesus on the Cross. the bagger was taken to Abraham" Abraham represents Grace represents Jesus," the Richman was separated from God. You might ask ? "they rejected Jesus instead they put him to death." 23he is now tormented because God no longer hears the dries of the Israelites 24 calls out for to send some form of blessing to stop Israel's agony with no God. 25: But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’ 25 Israel was under God's protection from the time of Moses to the time of Jesus while God ignored everyone else.(Lazarus) 26 The great separation is Christ since he was rejected by Israel and rejected to this day. in other words you can only go by 1 Master the law of Moses or Grace through Christ "Galatians 5:4 4 You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace......“Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.” 27 “He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, 28 for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’ 27 Levi begs for Christ to warn his family 28 who are his 5 brothers? Leah bore Jacob six sons: Reuben, Simeon, Judah, Issachar and Zebulun. (Levi/Richman) 29 Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’ 29 teachings of Christ's coming as well as all the Prophets warning Israel of the coming blessings 30 “‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’ 31 “He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’” 30 if Christ spoke to them they would have a change of mind as repent means/ to have a change of mind from Law to Grace 31 one has come to them from the dead Christ was resurrected and to this day the 5 brothers of Levi have rejected the one who raised from the dead.
What's interesting is not only did the Pharisees NOT believe, when Lazarus was raised, but they actually plotted to kill both Jesus AND Lazarus BECAUSE He raised him. They KNEW they were about to lose control over the people, they KNEW who He REALLY was, when that happened!
Now you said the Bible says when you die, you are asleep. So where did Moses & Elijah come from when Jesus was transfigured? Elijah obviously never died & was taken up to Heaven on a chariot of fire 🔥 but Moses did die before entering the Promised Land, so of Moses is asleep, buried somewhere private, why would he be “awakened” in spirit form for a moment? Our conscience must be somewhere after we die. Now that Jesus opened Heaven for the believers we know that after we die we stand before God just as the Apostle Paul said, but before Jesus payed for our sins on the cross the dead’s conscience must have been somewhere, aware of their surroundings.
If we are alive when we are dead then death does not existe and Serpent was the one who told the truth "Ye Shall Not Surely Die..." and God lied. Resurrection than has no point, Jesus dying on cross has no point since we can pay our wages in hell and we are alive forever so that means, if God is absolutley just, we can pay out transgressions in hell in certain time of torment like if you died in your 30s and you were regular man you can get out from hell in a year.

The answer for Moses may be found in Jude [Jde 1:9 NASB95] 9 But Michael the archangel, when he disputed with the devil and argued about the body of Moses, did not dare pronounce against him a railing judgment, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!" Some surmise, that like Elijah was taken up, and Enoch was taken up, neither tasting death, Moses was also taken up, even though He did die. He is the only person of whom God said, the Moses was his FRIEND! And unlike anyone else, God would talk to him, face to face. So clearly an exception. So it's possible, that's what happened. It's also clearly calls it a vision, so it's possible it was symbolic as Moses represents the Law and Elijah, the prophets. The Law and the Prophets are a constant theme with Jesus, as even mentioned in this parable of the rich man. Regardless, we don't sacrifice the plain and the clear, for the unclear and mystical. You can not take this parable nor that vision to trump ALL these verses that are plainly stated. [Gen 3:19 NASB95] 19 By the sweat of your face You will eat bread, Till you return to the ground, Because from it you were taken; For you are dust, And to dust you shall return." [Psa 146:4 NASB95] 4 His spirit departs, he returns to the earth; In that very day his thoughts perish. [Ecc 12:7 NASB95] 7 then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it. [Job 14:12 NASB95] 12 So man lies down and does not rise. Until the heavens are no longer, He will not awake nor be aroused out of his sleep. [Ecc 9:5 NASB95] 5 For the living know they will die; but the dead do not know anything, nor have they any longer a reward, for their memory is forgotten. [Ecc 9:10 NASB95] 10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do [it] with [all] your might; for there is no activity or planning or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol where you are going. [Psa 6:5 NASB95] 5 For there is no mention of You in death; In Sheol who will give You thanks? [Dan 12:2 KJV] 2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame [and] everlasting contempt. [Psa 13:3 NASB95] 3 Consider [and] answer me, O LORD my God; Enlighten my eyes, or I will sleep the [sleep of] death, [Jhn 11:11 NASB95] 11 This He said, and after that He said to them, "Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I go, so that I may awaken him out of sleep." [1Co 11:29-30 NASB95] 29 For he who eats and drinks, eats and drinks judgment to himself if he does not judge the body rightly. 30 For this reason many among you ARE weak and sick, and a number SLEEP.(note PRESENT TENSE) [1Co 15:51-53 NASB95] 51 Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality. [1Th 4:16-17 NASB95] 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of [the] archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. [Rev 20:4 NASB95] 4 Then I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. And I [saw] the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the mark on their forehead and on their hand; and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. Notice it says they CAME to life. They were not living up in heaven. Now show me ALL the verses that mention the dead are conscious and have thoughts.
@@ravenraven966 The reason being is that Eternal Conscious Torment is NOT taught in the Bible, not once. So if it's not biblical, where did it come from. Straight from Satan, himself, for the sole purpose of disparaging God's character. That's what he's done from the beginning, when he convinced Eve, God was holding out on her. The Bible PLAINLY states from the beginning and OVER AND OVER again, that the fate of the wicked is to be burned up, perish, death, no more, consumed, destroyed, ashes, etc. Literally EVERY possible way you could imagine to describe them NOT EXISTING! LOL There is not ONE verse they can point to that mentions the lost suffering in agony or torment for eternity. There are SOOO many opportunities in the scripture to just plainly state those words and yet not ONCE does God take the opportunity to do so, because IT'S NOT BIBLICAL and you are right, only a demon possessed psychopath could come up with such a horrific system.
Actually, the fact that Lazarus truly died AFTER this, makes me question if this really was a parable at all, or a prophecy. Parables don't have names in them either. Also, Jesus said to the thief "today" you will be with my father in paradise."
@@alwaysadawg6488 And THAT is the point. The reason it's a good idea NOT to name a character in the parable is so that each person can identify with that character. If he said STEVE did X, then people could easily dismiss it and say, well that doesn't apply to me, I'm not Steve. What's so funny is EVERYONE brings up that point that Jesus used proper names, so that means it's NOT a parable, when THE MAIN Character ISN'T Named! LOL Lazarus is barely a side prop, he literally has ZERO role in the story, he says nothing, and does nothing to move the narrative along. This is NOT a story about Lazarus. Obviously it's not a story about Abraham either. It's about the Rich Man who represents the Pharisees and the Jews, who HAD the word of God and didn't not share it with the Gentiles. Lazarus represent the gentiles who are outside the gate and starving for the word of God. What is about to happen? Well, the Jews are going to reject Christ and the Gospel, along with the World of God in the New Testament will go to the Gentiles, who will now be blessed with salvation AND be grafted into the Olive Tree. Meanwhile the Jews HAVE gone through hell. Jerusalem was about to be burned to the ground and then of course the Holocaust, where they would literally burn in ovens. This is backed up as JUST before the parable Luke mentions the Pharisees mocking Jesus because they were lovers of money. They also believe at that time that wealth was a sign of God's favor, instead of evidence of their corruption. Luke also quotes John the Baptist telling the Pharisees not to brag about being sons of Abraham as God is able to raise sons of Abraham from Rocks! Also, the parable mentions that the rich man had 5 brothers, which Judah had 5 full blood brothers, The rest of the tribes were half brothers. He also mentioned they have the law and the prophets, which the Jews had the law and the prophets, not the gentiles.
Except, Lazarus WOULD be raised from the dead. That's the only reason Jesus gives Lazarus a name. Lazarus wasn't the main character, nor was the parable directed to anyone that would identify with them. The parable was spoken to the Pharisees who were just mocking Jesus, and Luke mentioned they were lovers of money. So here is a parable about a rich man going to hades, clearly NOT favored by God. The rich man isn't named, because he's the main character and who the pharisees are supposed to identify with. To make SURE they identify with the rich man, Jesus mentions they have the law and the prophets, also that he had 5 brothers. A silly detail for the story, unless you realize, that Judah had 5 full blood brothers. The rest of the sons of Abraham were half brothers, to the tribe of Judah who was all that was left at Jesus time. The norther tribes of Israel were all mixed breeds and called Samaritans. Abraham tells the rich man that even if someone were raised from the dead, the rich man's (pharisees) brother's STILL wouldn't believe. Lo and behold, Jesus DOES end up raising up a man named Lazarus and not only did the Pharisees not believe, but rather plotted to kill both Jesus AND Lazarus. This is the sole reason a name was given to the poor beggar; Jesus was going to PROVE the lesson in the parable. The other main lesson was that the riches of the Word of God and the Gospel were about to be transferred from the Jews who were going to reject Jesus, to the Gentiles(the poor beggar, outside the gate-where the gentiles were relegated- who was STARVING for the word of God) The Jews were about to come under God's judgment, including the complete annihilation of Jerusalem through fire, and of course the literal burning of millions of them in the Holocaust). So you see why Jesus used the Greek view of Hades, that the Hellenistic Jews were very familiar with, as the backdrop for the warning He was giving them. Meanwhile the word of God(the New Testament) and the Gospel were going to the gentiles who would now enjoy what God meant to be the inheritance of the Jews. If you want to take this literally, then get ready to be serenaded for all eternity by the screams of the damned. If the rich man and Abraham can hold on a conversation across this great chasm, then you sure as hell will be able to hear BILLIONS screaming in agony. Taking this parable literally is what caused two grievous errors to be preached by the church. First, that being poor was pious and being rich was sinful. Second was that the "joys of heaven would be all the more pleasant, when contrasted with the screams of the damned suffering torments in hell" YES, some early church fathers actually preached that insanity! Sorry, but only demon possessed serial killers actually take joy in the suffering and agony of others. But I will give them credit for at least acknowledging the fact that IF you want to believe this is an actual event and not a parable, then THAT is what you have to believe.
119 ministries have some good teaching on this......they go a bit more specific on the identities. 1119ministrieslazarus should bring up the talk and ldf.
Parables are meant to shed light on something. Like for instance, if you were talking about Usain Bolt the greatest sprinter of all-time, you might say, "There is a man from Jamaica, who is an absolute cheetah." This would be a metaphoric parable. People would understand that just like a cheetah is the fastest land animal, so Usain Bolt is the fastest sprinter. But it would make no sense, even metaphorically to call Usain bolt a snail or a sloth. It would not make sense literally or metaphorically. It makes no sense whatsoever to tell a parable about annihilation by describing someone dying and then instantly going into conscious torment in flames. What is the metaphorical meaning of a person being conscious enough to carry on a rational conversation while describing how he is "...in torment in these flames." Does this really sound like annihilation or torment? Revelation 20:10 says, "And the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be TORMENTED day and night FOREVER and ever. . .Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if ANYONE"S name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire." By the way, the word torment is translated from the Greek word Basanismos, and it means to torture. It absolutely does NOT mean to annihilate and put out of existence. Revelation 14:9-11 says, "“If anyone worships the beast and his image and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand...He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. 11 And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have NO REST DAY OR NIGHT, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.” If an unrepentant sinner is annihilated in hell, (put out of existence) the phrase "NO REST DAY OR NIGHT" makes no sens
"Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. " (Matt 13:13) Jesus is talking here about people like the Pharisees. Their false belief in Abraham's bosom, Hades etc as recorded by Josephus the Jewish historian was perfect in making the point about the Pharisees self righteous attitudes and blindness to God's truth. Jesus uses their own belief against them in this, the greatest of all put downs - if they wanted truth they would have to humble themselves and search for the meaning in his parables. The disciples were at least trying to do this. Jesus plays them at their own game elsewhere. Luke 5:32 'I came not to call the righteous...' Did Jesus think the Pharisees were righteous? Of course not. “But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth” (Matt 8:12) You wouldn’t expect it to say “sons of the kingdom” would you if they were to be rejected. Wicked or evil ones or something not as promising - but these people were probably the Jews of the first century who saw themselves as sons of the kingdom.
You did not take into account the specific jewish audience, namely 1st century jews. If you want to do that, read 1st century jewish historian Josephus' writings about death and what the jews believed, things that weren't denied by Jesus in this parable. Nowhere in the Bible says that dead souls go to Heaven, only martyred souls are in the altar in heaven. All the rest are in Hades/Sheol, separated just like in the parable. Also, bosom is wrongly translated, the greek word means beside.
Here’s where you’re wrong, sir. Jesus is still alive at this point of telling this story. So Heaven isn’t accessible… yet. So the rich man & Lazarus are in Sheol. The rich man is on one side. There’s a deep pit in the middle. Lazarus is on the other side in a place called Abraham’s Bosom, where all the righteous go, til Heaven is opened. This is not a parable because Jesus would have not used an actual name: Lazarus. Jesus could have said & there was a certain “poor man” but instead he used an actual story that actually happened before Jesus was even incarcerated. After Jesus died on the cross, He took up the saints from Abraham’s Bosom up to Heaven. Some saints, I presume recently deceased & not completely decayed, were brought back to life, walked out of their tombs & walked around Jerusalem. I don’t know where the rich man is today? 🤷♂️ Maybe still there in torment? In Hades? But not yet in the lake of fire 🔥
That just makes Lucifer like a good guy actually. He never killed anyone, just deported them to another place. Resurrection is of no need at all since we are alive in death, there is no death. Serpent told the truth in the begining "Ye shall not surely die..." and God is a Liar.
THE RICH MAN AND LAZARUS STORY IS NOT ABOUT HELL Most of the Jews of Jesus' day believed their souls went to "sleep" when they died, that is, if their bodies were properly buried. The only way they could ever have consciousness again was to be "awakened" on the Resurrection Day, when they would get new, living bodies. Trouble is, not all the Jews believed in the Resurrection. Some, most notably the Sadducees, changed what their Israelite ancestors believed about sleeping souls in an underground cave called Sheol to align better with what the pagan Greeks believed--that a "soul" is the "real you," which survives death as a conscious entity and travels to a spirit world to be rewarded or punished by the gods...no Resurrection needed! Consequently, some of Sadducean-influenced Jews got the idea that obedient souls in the Sheol Underworld were not asleep but having a good ol' time with their Father Abraham, but others, who were not faithful Jews, would have to be punished for the wrongs they did, at least for a while, in the lower part of Sheol. It's not at all likely that Luke inserted one of the Sadducean morality tales (like the story of the Rich Man and Lazarus) in his Gospel. But a Greek Christian copyist of his Gospel (perhaps in the Second Century) thought it would make a nice addition to the teachings of Jesus...though he could only have done so by having no clue what Jesus and most of the, Pharisee-influenced Jews of Jesus' day believed about the afterlife! There are many reasons why the place where the Rich Man's soul went was not Hell! For one thing, the text says in the Realm of HADES, as in the mythological underworld governed by the brother of Zeus! If anyone wants to say this story is real, then you'd have to also believe in all the other gods of Mt. Olympus, like Poseidon, the god who ruled the seas! Further, he's able to talk to Abraham. He could never carry on a normal conversation if he were burning alive, but would be screaming at the top of lungs! Yes, he complains about the heat being too high, but only in the same way it is outside on a hot, summer day in places like Texas! (This is just one reason why this story helped the Catholic Church devise the belief in Purgatory.) It's really bizarre to hear Neo Evangelicals assert this story has to do with Heaven and Hell, because Lazarus never does anything other than to be a poor and sickly Jew to get into "Abraham's Bosom." He never "accepts Jesus as his Lord and Savior." And then it gets any worse for Neo Evangelicals who then quote I Peter 3:18-20 to claim Jesus actually went to Hell where all the Old Testament saints, like Abraham, were waiting for Jesus to redeem them on the cross, so they got to have a chance at going with him to Heaven, assuming they believed what his soul preached to them while he was dead for three days...except that's NOT what Peter said! What Peter said is that AFTER Jesus died and was made alive by the spirit, i.e., after he was RESURRECTED from the dead, he made a "proclamation to the spirits in prison." But these "spirits," he goes on to say, were not the righteous Jews, but the spirits of all the people who turned down a chance to get on the ark of Noah, and died in the flood as a result. In other words. Now the King James translators who were doctrinally committed to the "Harrowing of Hell" belief, so they mistranslated the Greek word EKERYXEN as "preached," instead of "proclaimed," to align better with the teaching of the Church of England, inherited from Catholicism. But all Peter was doing was making a FIGURATIVE comparison between the ark of Noah that delivered him and his family from the Flood and the death and resurrection of Jesus that, similarly, delivers all sinners from sin! With all due respect brother I believe you're wrong, and that the story of the Rich man and Lazarus is indeed true. Let me give you something to think about first Jesus uses an actual historical person to fulfill his story unlike other stories that had no historical person example the man that builds his house on sand and the prodigal son. Notice that these stories are meant to be parables to fulfill his point because there's no focus on an actual historical person, But instead he focuses on the circumstances. Now we go back to the rich man and Lazarus, Abraham is mentioned and not only mentioned but he was having an interaction with the rich man why would Jesus use an actual person and put words in his mouth when he never said it in the first place just to make it a parable, whenever Jesus mentions an Old testament figure it's always consistent with the scriptures He never adds words other than what the scripture says. Jesus is perfect and he will not falsify Abraham by putting him in a story and making up words to fit his parable unless it was true and we know Jesus is truth, so his representation of Abraham has to be true and not made up. This is consistent of it being a true story. Just like the other stories that I mentioned Jesus does not mention a particular person so he's able to carry on the story and put words in individual's mouths because there not real. But since the interaction were from a real person he cant do that unless he's a liar. Jesus cannot lie about a person by falsy adding words in his mouth, the story has to be true there's no way around it in my opinion.
It is a parable. Jesus recited it at the same time was recting the other parables. It even starts like the other parables. "There was a rich man....". If proper names mean it is not a parable then why was the rich man NOT named? Further, tradition teaches that people in hell are screaming in pain non-stop, burning in flames. How then is the rich man able to hold a conversation with Lazarus? I have never been engulfed in flames, but I doubt I would be able to vocalize a message, receive the feedback, process the feedback, and respond in turn. Moreover, if the rich man is engulfed in real flames, what is ONE DROP of water going to do? No one who is actually being burned alive will ask for one drop of water. This is a parable.
Anyone who dies not knowing the Lord will be cast into hell. Not being in some sleep. And then at the very end of it all, hell will be cast into the lake of fire. And people who die Knowing Christ will go to heaven. Not a sleep of darkness. Then at the end of it all, we will reign with God forget in the new heaven and earth
Respectfully....let me say that you're so wrong about this story told by Jesus. I would like to recommend and watch H.B. charles jr. To fully understand what this is about. And that's an invitation to all who read this comment.

Wonderful Thomas! Nice new profile photo ;)
So what you're saying is that Jesus was using an error, like death does NOT result in soul sleep, to teach a spiritual truth?
LOL, it's was a PARABLE about the Israelites and the pharisees(The Rich Man) being swapped out for the gentiles(Lazarus, who's outside the gate, starving for the word)
It's CLEARLY not about the afterlife as the background of the story is basically the pagan Greek and Babylonian view of the afterlife.
NOW you see why that imagery made a perfect backdrop for the story, the warning, and the fate of those WHO the parable was written to.
why would Jesus use a setting that isn't possible? Other settings in the parables are situations that can actually happen. Sure the story itself might be fiction, but would Jesus use elements in the story that would of fictitious?

God bless you! Thank God someone is studying their Bible!!! Abraham is in his grave waiting for the first resurrection, Genesis 15:15 Genesis 25:8-10, Hebrews 11:8-13, 17-19,39-40, 1st Thessalonians 4:16-17.
He is reading from Luke that Abraham & Lazarus are both in paradise.
I trusted in the Lord of Jesus Christ as my personal savior into my heart through faith alone, and not of works, by accepting his free gift of salvation, by his grace on February 16, 1996, each day, I confess sins for process of sanctification, to receive Jesus Christ as your personal savior, please refer to Matthew 10:28, John 3:16-18:36, 5:24, 6:37:47, 10:27-29, 14:6, Acts 2:38, 16:30-31, Luke 15:10, Romans 1:16, 3:23 , 4:5, 6:23, 10:9-10:13, Ephesians 2:8-10, and Titus 3:5. God bless the world, and thank you for sharing.
"I tell you the truth today, you WILL be with me in paradise."
Is VERY different than:
"I tell you the truth, TODAY you will be with me in paradise."
We KNOW the second one is incorrect as it directly contradicts the entire Bible and Jesus own words after His resurrection.
So, in that passage he sums it up and says, "we are of good courage, I say, and prefer RATHER to be absent from THIS body AND to be present (or at home) with the Lord."
He's saying this mortal earthly body is dying and decaying and we long to be clothed with the new immortal spiritual body, which we don't get until Christ's coming.
May god bless you and your family😊😊😊😊😊😊
Thank you Emanual!

He told the truth about what he was addressing . Being rich or poor do not determine our eternal destiny. Faith and obedience to God and His Son do.
No, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, no sleeping when dead
Paul is speaking concerning the new bodies we will receive when Jesus returns and we will no longer be bound to these sinful bodies subject to death.
1 Thessalonians 4:15-17
For this, we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

1For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
10For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad
the story of Lazarus and the rich man I will explain the PARABLE verse by verse. remember it is a PARABLE
Luke 16:19-31 19 “There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day.
Lazarus represents the Gentile people going to Israel in hopes of receiving some of God's blessings, the dogs represent mockers
The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24 So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’
both died 2000 years ago the time of Jesus on the Cross. the bagger was taken to Abraham" Abraham represents Grace represents Jesus," the Richman was separated from God.
26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’
25 Israel was under God's protection from the time of Moses to the time of Jesus while God ignored everyone else.(Lazarus) 26 The great separation is Christ since he was rejected by Israel and rejected to this day. in other words you can only go by 1 Master the law of Moses or Grace through Christ "Galatians 5:4 4 You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace......“Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.”
27 “He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, 28 for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’
27 Levi begs for Christ to warn his family 28 who are his 5 brothers? Leah bore Jacob six sons: Reuben, Simeon, Judah, Issachar and Zebulun. (Levi/Richman)
29 Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’
29 teachings of Christ's coming as well as all the Prophets warning Israel of the coming blessings
30 “‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’ 31 “He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’”
30 if Christ spoke to them they would have a change of mind as repent means/ to have a change of mind from Law to Grace
31 one has come to them from the dead Christ was resurrected and to this day the 5 brothers of Levi have rejected the one who raised from the dead.
What's interesting is not only did the Pharisees NOT believe, when Lazarus was raised, but they actually plotted to kill both Jesus AND Lazarus BECAUSE He raised him. They KNEW they were about to lose control over the people, they KNEW who He REALLY was, when that happened!
Therefore speak I to them in parables, because seeing, they see not, and hearing, they hear not, neither do they understand.
@@JoyRam13,, good point sister..I'm getting so weary with all the different belief systems in Christianity.... I also think that this God they worship sounds worse than the worst psychopath... If you know what I mean...🕊️
The answer for Moses may be found in Jude
[Jde 1:9 NASB95] 9 But Michael the archangel, when he disputed with the devil and argued about the body of Moses, did not dare pronounce against him a railing judgment, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!"
Some surmise, that like Elijah was taken up, and Enoch was taken up, neither tasting death, Moses was also taken up, even though He did die.
[Gen 3:19 NASB95]
19 By the sweat of your face You will eat bread, Till you return to the ground, Because from it you were taken; For you are dust, And to dust you shall return."
[Psa 146:4 NASB95]
4 His spirit departs, he returns to the earth; In that very day his thoughts perish.
[Ecc 12:7 NASB95]
7 then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it.
[Job 14:12 NASB95]
12 So man lies down and does not rise. Until the heavens are no longer, He will not awake nor be aroused out of his sleep.
[Ecc 9:5 NASB95]
5 For the living know they will die; but the dead do not know anything, nor have they any longer a reward, for their memory is forgotten.
[Ecc 9:10 NASB95]
10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do [it] with [all] your might; for there is no activity or planning or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol where you are going.
[Psa 6:5 NASB95]
5 For there is no mention of You in death; In Sheol who will give You thanks?
[Dan 12:2 KJV]
2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame [and] everlasting contempt.
[Psa 13:3 NASB95]
3 Consider [and] answer me, O LORD my God; Enlighten my eyes, or I will sleep the [sleep of] death,
[Jhn 11:11 NASB95]
11 This He said, and after that He said to them, "Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I go, so that I may awaken him out of sleep."
[1Co 11:29-30 NASB95]
29 For he who eats and drinks, eats and drinks judgment to himself if he does not judge the body rightly. 30 For this reason many among you ARE weak and sick, and a number SLEEP.(note PRESENT TENSE)
[1Co 15:51-53 NASB95]
51 Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality.
[1Th 4:16-17 NASB95]
16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of [the] archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.
[Rev 20:4 NASB95]
4 Then I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them.
LOL
There is not ONE verse they can point to that mentions the lost suffering in agony or torment for eternity.
If the rich man was real, why didn't the lesson include his name?
@@alwaysadawg6488 And THAT is the point. The reason it's a good idea NOT to name a character in the parable is so that each person can identify with that character. If he said STEVE did X, then people could easily dismiss it and say, well that doesn't apply to me, I'm not Steve.
What's so funny is EVERYONE brings up that point that Jesus used proper names, so that means it's NOT a parable, when THE MAIN Character ISN'T Named! LOL
Lazarus is barely a side prop, he literally has ZERO role in the story, he says nothing, and does nothing to move the narrative along.
The other main lesson was that the riches of the Word of God and the Gospel were about to be transferred from the Jews who were going to reject Jesus, to the Gentiles(the poor beggar, outside the gate-where the gentiles were relegated- who was STARVING for the word of God)
The Jews were about to come under God's judgment, including the complete annihilation of Jerusalem through fire, and of course the literal burning of millions of them in the Holocaust).
Second was that the "joys of heaven would be all the more pleasant, when contrasted with the screams of the damned suffering torments in hell"
YES, some early church fathers actually preached that insanity!
"Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. " (Matt 13:13)
Jesus is talking here about people like the Pharisees.
There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth” (Matt 8:12)
You wouldn’t expect it to say “sons of the kingdom” would you if they were to be rejected.
Your premise is based on incorrect assumption.
How do you know the parables Jesus told didn’t actually happen?
Maybe still there in torment?
No one is in heaven until the second coming of Christ Jesus. Paradise is the opposite side of the place of torment. Both places are in Hades.
Paradise is mentioned actually
Facts. It does exist. This man is saying is doesn't. That's incorrect.
I believe it says clearly in the Bible deny yourself you understand that you'll understand this parable
THE RICH MAN AND LAZARUS STORY IS NOT ABOUT HELL
Most of the Jews of Jesus' day believed their souls went to "sleep" when they died, that is, if their bodies were properly buried.
(This is just one reason why this story helped the Catholic Church devise the belief in Purgatory.)
It's really bizarre to hear Neo Evangelicals assert this story has to do with Heaven and Hell, because Lazarus never does anything other than to be a poor and sickly Jew to get into "Abraham's Bosom." He never "accepts Jesus as his Lord and Savior."
And then it gets any worse for Neo Evangelicals who then quote I Peter 3:18-20 to claim Jesus actually went to Hell where all the Old Testament saints, like Abraham, were waiting for Jesus to redeem them on the cross, so they got to have a chance at going with him to Heaven, assuming they believed what his soul preached to them while he was dead for three days...except that's NOT what Peter said!

He actually never said it was a parable. It could be a parable, it could be real.
True, He did not say it literally, but there's a lot of indicators that show us that it is a parable.
It’s clearly a parable. Whoever told you that is trying to push a narrative.
I agree. , not a parable
@@DOGFACESOLDIER0708 It’s so obviously a parable. You have to have some pretty severe cognitive dissonance to think otherwise
@@alwaysadawg6488 so you’re saying that Jesus is a liar
No your not dead. To be absent from the body is to be present with the lord so we go directly to heaven after death.
That's for believers in the new testament.
There is eternal torment for the unbelievers
, rev 20 and many other scriptures
Rev 20 doesn’t mention anything about the wicked being tormented for eternity.
