- Add DSP room correction EQ to your studio monitors for less than $100 dollars!
Follow this guide for the quick and easy way to set up this equalizer to correct for frequency problems with your recording control room.
The Behringer DSP8024 manual is hard to follow, use this quick and easy guide to get your studio monitor mixing room corrected in less than 3 minutes!
Wow. If only everyone did simple and to the point instructional videos like this. Nice job!
If I was British, I would have to talk for 15 minutes first!
Wow. I've had that piece in my rack for YEARS and had no idea it could do that! Thanks!
Yeah, the manual is pretty sketchy. Thanks for the comment!
mckevrock boss I need help with this, how can I speak with you, on Facebook Or whattsapp or text? I did exactly what you said and after it was done I did as you did pressed the in/out button to stop the pink noise and then pressed the eq to see the correction but then it said to repress the in/out button to hear the eq???? I did that and there’s like weird noises when playing a session just a solo instrument like a bass or a kik there’s like a delayed filter noise like sound can’t explain but once I hit the in/out button it stops but so does the eq? I don’t know what to do now
mckevrock it’s a buzz fuzz sound don’t know what it is, if it’s just the unit or what, but I know I didn’t have that sound before when plugged directly to the console
@@muzikstore7984 Double check your menu settings before running the correction. Also, after analyzing is over, check to see if any of your bands are maxed out. If so, you might get some distortion or noise because the unit is trying to over compensate for a poor room. My unit does this a little bit too because of the settings you see I ended up with. Remember it's not a high-end unit, it's a Behringer, so you might get a little noise, but just focus on your overall mix and not noise. Hope this helps!
I guess it is pretty off topic but does anyone know of a good website to stream newly released movies online?
Brilliant explanation - very clear - thankyou! Surprised how much EQ my ex BBC LS5/8 speakers wanted and how much they were improved! =)
Exceptional job of making this task so much easier. Thanks very much!
Hi Mckevrock! Thanks for all you help. I changed the EPROM from v1.2 to v1.3 and all is well.
Recently a unit with firmware 1.1 of the DSP 8024 fell into my hands, it is no longer available on the Behringer website! However, I read on some forum that the DSP version 9024 can be used, and to my surprise the name of the firmware itself is 8024, has anyone done this update recently? of the current firmware on the behringer of the 9024 on the 8024?
*OUT STANDING! THANK YOU and could you do a shoot out with that ART TPS and the Avalon micpreamps?*
Sorry I had to sell the Avalon, but, let me tell you, I am still happy to use the TPS, the Avalon was not worth the added expense. The compressor did not have a fast enough attack, even after I did the babyface mod.
besides the room correction/auto EQ mode, what's it like using the device? what's the interface like? If manually eq'ing, is there a lot of scrolling or are eq bands quickly accessed?
thanks!
bidding on 3 lol going to use the for audio distribution around the house.
Thank you for answering my question so promptly. Quest 2, how loud should my speakers be while testing?
Medium/loud listening volume.
thanks i learnering today
Hi, I have two questions.
1) Is there a fine audible variation in sound quality simply adding the device in the sound system (flat curve)? In other words, does it add some kind of character?
2) Where to place the microphone during the meausurements?
Many thanks.
1) Not that I can tell, but I'm not a scientist!
2) Place the microphone where your head would be during normal listening.
@@mckevrock Hi , how can i use this device for event (there a big hall and many peoples)?
@@vasylmarchuk4109 Try to think.. device, mic, this tutorial. Your space, your hall, do it there. Could that work?
Is it possible to do the whole thing with a PA system consisting of two subs and two tops? because it only has two outputs….
Yes. As long as the EQ is patched/connected to a point in the signal path where the EQ would effect the full range output signal.
I know it's two years old but quick question for anyone here on this unit. Can I match eq curve of source one to a target source with this? How many bands would it match? Thanks a ton great video
It's been 4 months since you asked but I thought I'd answer anyways.
Besides the auto EQ function, it's also a graphic EQ. You could document the EQ settings you want to copy or transfer and manually enter those settings in your target device.
Hi mckevrock! You explain that you need hook the mic in the mic input and the speakers the output but don't I need to connect the output of my mixer somewhere before I starte the process?
No, not for this calibration. The signal is generated by the Behringer. The microphone is listening to the signal coming from itself! Of course, eventually you'll be plugging your mixer in, but that's not needed for this step. Thanks for asking!
Is there any noticable latency for live performance?
I'm also curious about the latency. For post-production syncing audio to picture I'd need basically zero latency. Wonder how much it introduces
No latency that i can detect! It's designed for live use.
Hello please help I just purchased one it says warning power low when I turn it on should I be worried?
You might be plugging into the wrong voltage or it may have a memory battery inside that you will need to be replaced. I am not a technical support you'd have to contact behringer for this stuff.
Hello me podrás explicar cómo lo reseteo de fábrica gracias y saludos
How did u connect it ? I am going from Mic Pre -> Compressor -> Mixer -> Audiointerface Presonus Firestudio ......wher should i place it to get the best results ? thx
You're going to put this between the output of your PreSonus and your powered monitors, the microphone plugs directly into the back of the behringer. Your mic preamp, compressor, mixer won't be involved in this.
@@mckevrock thx a lot !! Nicee content 💥💥
Muito legal seu vídeo, realmente é muito difícil achar algo relacionado no UA-cam.
Could I connect my bass guitar to Behringer and use effects like delay (echo). Thank you
Personally, I wouldn't. And do not believe it is having a high z input suitable for bass guitar, personally I would just get a delay effects pedal. They can be obtained pretty cheap, Barringer makes some very affordable foot pedals.
Thanks dude
How can I kill The frequencies between 20-40hz? It should be before or after in the eq preset?
Thank u 🙏🏽
That's pretty low dude, not sure if that's even a selectable frequency on this unit. Are you speakers even capable of generating those freqs? Are you mixing for humpback whales? I would use my master bus eq for that.
@@mckevrock😀 "Are you mixing for humpback whales?" 😀 Funny 😀
Does the behringer ultra curve pro unit achieve the same result ?
Not sure! I would believe so.
good
hi bud hey i have one i cant get the analizer to work when the eq its engaged only analizes when the eq its on bypass it mutes the sound when the eq its engaged i touched everything nothing seems to work any advise?
Make sure you're going through and following the instructions step-by-step, I can't offer anything other than that. This is how it worked for me!
Also, I have heard you may need to have the most recent firmware update chip.
Hmm, I followed this exactly (settings and step by step), but the pink noise just goes on and on endlessly. It never seems to correct or get flat. Any ideas wht I might be doing wrong?
There are different firmware versions, check to make sure that yours matches.
@@mckevrock yeah v1.2. I ordered a 1.3a eprom, hopefully that will help. Thanks!
Can't say! Make sure you pause the video and check the settings exactly all three way to the end. This is the method that worked for my unit.
@@moonthink8288
I have same issue.
Does it helped , after firmware upgrade?
And if it did, how and where do you ordered a 1.3a eprom?
Thnx
Hi! I have another problem. When press the C button for L+R, it doesn't bring up the "Ok-Cancel" screen. It bring up the same screen as in the "RTA" mode. Why?
Are you using Version 1.2 or 1.3 software
Version 1.2 but ordered EPROM 1.3, hoping this may be the problem. Also does the 1.3 need to be programed?
@@franksmith183 I'm having exactly the same problem as you! on V1.2 also
Yes, guys, from what I hear the 1.3 is the one you want. That is what I have.
@@studio31productions83 @Franck Smith I have 1.2 and the same issue. Then i plug midi cables, tried to connect it to my computer using a free software for the new model and guess what? It now works! Incredible.
Where can this Eprom be found, btw?
you didnt say what to do if your EQ is maxed out after running the auto EQ, is the mic not loud enough....did i not have the speakers turned up enough? what gives..... :/
Not an expert here, but my guess is either the level is not loud enough or your room is beyond fixing with EQ. Turn the level up and give it another shot!
Yeah and awesome that you messaged, for some reason when I take a measurement my EQ is Max out, like if my microphone game is turned down or something LOL I've been trying to mess with settings but it doesn't seem like it's changing much I can still play around with it more, hopefully we'll see
Can someone help with this please, I did as the video said, but when done it said in a text to repress the in/out button to hear the eq and when I do that, you can hear weird background delayed noises???? Can someone help
There's a delay function, make sure it's turned off. That's in the manual. Happy reading!
My behringer when doing auto Q ( l+R ) returns to initial selection menu.. what's the matter ?
I'm not sure, this is what mine does when I go through these steps. Possibility you may have an older firmware version?

No I didn't upgrade, I just did what I wrote. I don't use it anymore, though. @@massimilianoprivitera2830
Does this feature also work in open spaces? Thanks.
I never tried it! It's worth a try I guess.
Hi. Does anyone knows how to use it via Midi?
I update my dsp8024 to v1.3 with the eprom part.
also I have the software for it.
when trying to setup the midi, the software closes.
does anyone knows how to control the dsp8024 via midi?
or how to activate the hardware for midi, to turn on the red light in the front, midi.
thanks. i can share the software from behriner if anyone need it.
Thank you for piping in, joe! I don't use MIDI but would be glad to see how you are using that feature for what your application is!
impossible to find the software online! I'd love to get it, please!

What other ways are they to accomplish this?
Not sure what you mean here?
Buy monitors with auto room correction built in, or hire a professional to treat your room.
