  • As a follow up to my popular Des Plaines Oasis video, I visit the Illinois Tollway O'Hare Oasis in Schiller Park, Illinois, for the first time since the over the road section closed down.

Back in the day me and my friends used to hang out here all the time. Hours and hours, long before they built the 7-11s, a lot of memories here.

Love that place. Great vid on my Awesome Videos playlist where someone took a vid back in 93 when it was Burger King. I knew some classmates that used to ride their bike up there. I was a bit... sheltered... I would not have been allowed to venture out that far by myself. But I went there a lot with my Dad to watch the cars and play arcade games back when it was Burger King. :-)

@@memoriesbywayne well biking from Northlake to Schiller park is a substantial ride without a good route to get there. I’m glad you captured this piece of history!

@@onesixfive it would be an adventurous bike ride for sure lol. Thank you, I have really enjoyed documenting the oases in its various stages. Have a lot roots built into the 3 being torn down. So glad I could give back a bit. :-)

This place helped me out when having to wait for airplane arrivals at O'Hare Airport. Now there is no place to hang out and watch the traffic on Interstate 294. It would be nice all the construction is over. Maybe they could reconstruct an oasis?

It is certainly more possible than the Des Plaines Oasis, which had to be removed for the expansion of the Elgin-O'Hare. I am not trying to get my hopes up though, as I just don't feel the tollway wants to invest in oases anymore. If anything they may expand the outside seating and parking area like they did at Des Plaines, if they plan to keep the gas stations long term. But one can hope for sure! :-)

Great video man! It's a mess to get to this "oasis" if you are heading SB on I-294...

It's confusing for sure and the construction is a mess!

Thank you. Yes, I am going to try to get back to Hinsdale again. It is very sad to see them go one by one.

Wow, had no idea it's gone. I'm from Downers Grove but I moved out of the country a long while ago. I haven't been back for a visit for a few years, but has the actual bridge been demolished? I was looking up the Ohare Oasis because I wanted to figure out what the pizza place was called. It was something just like Sbarro but was under a different name

Yes, the bridge is now gone at O'Hare. I would guess that went down sometime in 2019. Only pizza place I can think of at the moment in the plazas is Sbarro.

This is The Oasis near to where Flight 191 Crashed in 1979!

Actually it was next to the now removed Des Plaines Oasis, not far from this one. Just a little bit before my time. Sad event indeed.
