- One rainy Sunday afternoon I was rummaging through my spares box of all things telescopic and came across an old objective lens that had been in there for years and I thought it's about time I did something with that. So, my homemade Solar Scope was born.. And you won't believe what the tube is made from..
Thank you for watching don't forget to subscribe as I do regular uploads for the new astronomer..
Solar projection method: • WATCH THIS!!! If You A...
There isnt a video of yours that doesnt make me smile :) your youtube channel is the most humble astronomy channel ive found, keep on the good vids! clear skies!
Love it Jason! This is what rainy weekends were made for, and the air freshener can was a great idea!. Very cool or should I say hot DIY project :)
Hahaha Thanks Chris.. Indeed they are.. The air freshener can was a right bonus once I chopped the ends off it was as though it had been made to measure for the objective and the eyepiece adapter, everything fitted lovely and snug 😂.. Saves throwing it away.
@@smalloptics753 Brilliant recycling :D
Here In The States The Damn Febreeze Containers Are Plastic🤦🏼♀️That Is Awesome Jason..I Love It❤🙏🏻🔭🌏✨
Looks very cool (hot?) Jason. Can't wait to give this a shot!
yes yes woww you got it... hahaha... it's really amazing and creative.. well done Mr. Jason.. all the very best..! god bless you !
Thank you for your kind words my friend. Stay safe :)
Fantastic stuff Jason 👏
Thank you John much appreciated my friend :)
This is,in my humble, opinion, the coolest, most down-to-earth channel on UA-cam! Please keep up the good work and (again), thank you!!
Thank you for your kind words Doug very much appreciated and your more than welcome 😊
Wow, just love this video, fantastic diy idea. Jason you are the best!!!
I was actually doing the math to figure out if my busted bino's could be used for this and then I ran across your vid...AWESOME!!! My second option was going to be to turn the objectives into steampunk style magnification glasses since they are really close to the same as my reading glasses. But using a Febreze can...great tip and I'll definitely use that. and for what it's worth, here in the U.S. it's always been spelled that way, but all the commercials pronounce it "fah-breeze"...never actually read it letter by letter till now either, shich is likely why you thought it was spelled the way it's pronounced.
Anyway...great stuff and look forward to more!!!
Hey Jason this little scope could be a classic for you and your UA-cam channel! Never thought of those air freshener tins could be used as a telescope. Brilliant idea for solar observing as the sun is ramping its sunspots after few quiet years.
Sunspots are great to see and lead to the greatest show from mother nature the aurora northern lights as this week there were displays that was seen in England.
Hope you have fun and great shots showing these sunspots and clear sunny days for solar observing!
Take care friend and clear skies duren the day for seeing those sunspots!
Hey Bushcraft. Thanks buddy.. Yeah those air freshener cans are perfect for a small telescope project once you cut the ends off its as though they were made for the job.. Cheers buddy stay safe, clear skies :)
very good like it❤
A DIY Telescope, That's Incredible Jason. I also Love The Finishing Touches of The Red cover. Could Be a Brand Value, LOL. Nice work Man, you recycled a Plastic Bottle To make a Good Telescope!!👍
Thank you Avanteesh. Yes it's always good to recycle.. Hope your well my friend.
Nice one Jason good to see all those hours watching ‘Blue Peter’ paid off. 😆
Hahaha! Indeed
Thank you, Jason!
I appreciate this because it reminded me of something I'd forgotten.
I have pair of cheap binocs my wife knocked out of collimation.
They're 10x 50s so a 50mm objective would work fine for a project.
But 1st I think I'll try to correct the issue.
If it doesn't work then I can repurpose a 50mm objective.
Have a GREAT day, Neighbor!
I am not sure if it is true the plastic telescopes cannot be used.
In my ignorance I used the small table top newtonian reflector outside of the garden door to project partial solar eclipse on the wall in the darkened room through the gap in the drapes. It worked and the little 76mm Newtonian survived my experiment
Great idea!
so far, its super cool!
It looks awesome!
Very nice!
A hillbilly telescope in Chesterfield, I can almost hear the banjos playing🤣
Lol!! You should see my banjo xD

I watched a couple of your videos, i like how you explain things, i learned a lot just by watching some of the videos, im a beginner, i still know nothing about this hobby, so can you help by explaining a couple of things, like how do i improve the quality of my telescope, how can i add weight to the telescope, i just got my first telescope, its a cheap one, 70mm, i have yet to get a chance to use it, i dont really expect to see anything clearly other than the moon...
Hello friend, Thank you.. Have a look at this video and I'm sure it will help you out. All the best.

What we all get up to on rainy weekends lol. Ingenuity and improvisation at its best. PS won’t the eyepiece fall out when pointing it higher in the sky?
Hey buddy, LOL! Well it eased the Sunday blues.. No, there is a thumb screw on the other side at 9:14 you can see me tighten it back up :)
@@smalloptics753 Missed that 🤔
daystar 60mm solar scout is safe i know and be careful with the sun
My Mandela effect. It was about 2016 and I and my cohorts were sitting in the office at work at night (second shift) and we started to talk about how Neil Armstrong had just died. It was on the news that day. I remember that we were in our new office which was refurbished in 2015. I later learned that Armstrong died in 2012. Well for me he died in 2016. I have no explanation for this.
4:23 Nearly dropped that lens cap again. LOL
Hi there i had a question i have a 114mm telescope with a focal length off 900 with an azi muthal mount and i cant add a dovetail so i found another telescope with 114mm but a 500mm focal length with a EQ mount with ring tubes so can i replace reove the 500 mm telescope of the EQ mount and attach the 900mm telescope .
Hello Advay. With both telescopes been of the same aperture and as long as they are the same circumference on the outside, then yes it will be fine. The focal length won't effect what you are doing that will only effect how the two telescopes balance. Have fun with your project, hope this helps 🙂
