  • The Pioneer DDJ-SR2 is the upgrade from the original DDJ-SR2. The DDJ-SR2 is a controller for Serato DJ and has a good amount of features from the original SR but more features such as the RGB backlit colour pads, XLR Balanced outputs, a Serato DVS ready for turntables and CDJ Timecode playback control Pitch N Time and Pitch Play controls. The DDJ-SR2 also comes with a full version of the Serato DJ software as well as the Serato Pitch N Time package all included in. Watch the full video to see why I chose the DDJ-SR2 for my personal usage.

Seems good for quick in and out gigs, I do too many gigs to be lugging turntables anymore

    Dope controller man!
I got the OG Pioneer DDJ-SR in the summer of 2014, my 1st dj controller and a great controller!
Now I want to upgrade to a DVS ready controller so I can hook it up to my long neglected technics turntables.
I’ve always preferred 2 channel battle style mixers and the same goes for controllers.
There’s only 3 controllers in the market that are 2-channel & dvs ready:
    1.) Pioneer DDJ-SR2 ($700)
    2.) Roland DJ-505 ($650)
    3.) Mixars Primo ($550)
I’m waiting for all the Mixars Primo UA-cam reviews to make my decision but as of now its between the Mixars Primo because of all the cool extra features and the price or the Pioneer DDJ-SR2 because of the quality brand and because it’s an upgrade of the controller I already have & like! :)

Well its much safer and more trustable to buy the DDJ SR2 cause you know things wont go wrong with them. Plus you own the DDJ SR already so the functions are much more familiar to you.

True, true and Pioneer does make quality products!
The only thing I don't like about the newer DDJ-SR2 is they took away the crossfader curve dial for some weird reason, my original DDJ-SR has it!
I also don't like that they didn't add a location marker on the jog wheel, like having a sticker marking on vinyl... other controllers have that and Pioneer could've added it to the new version DDJ-SR2, that and a longer tempo/pitch slider.... but other than that the DDJ-SR2 is one dope DVS ready 2-channel controller! :)
I'm still very curious about the Mixars Primo though and waiting for all the youtube reviews.

They still sell & manufacture the 2017 Pioneer DDJ-SR2 in 2023, in fact I'm pretty sure it's the oldest controller that pioneer still sales & manufactures, all their other controllers from that time have been replaced by newer & better updated models except for the SR2 which still has the old pioneer controller look with shinny jog wheels, their new controllers don't have that shinny look anymore.
I much prefer the new look of their current controllers as well as the newer features.... but I'm still waiting for a mid-level/DVS ready serato controller that will replace the SR/SR2 line, maybe something like their Rekordbox controller the DDJ-800 but for Serato, or a mid-level version of their new Serato entry-level controller DDJ-REV1 (but with a stand-alone mixer & DVS compatibility of course).
For some reason Pioneer seems to mainly be producing new & cheap entry-level and new & expensive pro-level controllers for Serato but they've been neglecting the mid-level Serato market since the 2017 DDJ-SR2!

Purchased this controller about 10 months ago. My first controller n I love it. There is only one issue n it can be a major one. 🤨GROUNDING ISSUES🤨 I've found a way to work around it but it is a big pronlem. The jog wheels actually become unresponsive in certain environments (1st floor of a house vs a basement vs outside)

Exaaactly I would love a SR3 as a Professional Mid-Level. I started out DJ’ing on the DDJ-SB3 eventually upgraded to the DDJ-REV1 once it released which is my workhorse. I also have the RANE ONE which goes with me to special events, Galas, Weddings, Formals, Hip-Hop events etc. Just added the Numark Party Mix MK2 as my compact practice/traveling unit.
But would love a mid-level release from Pioneer w/RBG lighting I would be a player for that device ASAP
