    You need to put insulation underneath the camper and wrap the pipes as good as you can

    Some people put a space heater under the campers to help with plumbing and i remember as a little girl they put a heat lamp in the pump house to keep the well from freezing. They is also a heated tape you wrap around the pipes to help with pipes . You can buy insulation to wrap your water pipes. Good luck with everything.

      Thank you for the information! I'll have to look into all of that! Definitely want to avoid busted pipes! It's kinda been a live and learn type of experience, so any tips are greatly appreciated!

      @@Escaping_TheOrdinary There is also an insulation board that people cut and that would go behind the siding you put up.

      Check out how surving Ringworm used reflective under his cabin to insulate his floor. I live in a drafty old mobile home and and belong to several groups and the number one things people did last year was to put cardboard over the windows. I know it is not pretty and people even painted designs on it. it's all about layers.

    Nice job winterizing. I have to do the same every year. For the skirting, I used 1.5 inch foil lined foam insulation. It made a world of difference. I only mention that because you were wondering what to do with an open spot by the slide

    • @Escaping_TheOrdinary
      @Escaping_TheOrdinary  5 днів тому +1

      Yeah, a lot of people have mentioned the foam i think thats what we plan to do with that spot! I am thankful for the information because we've kinda just winged it. lol been a live and learn type of thing!

      @@Escaping_TheOrdinary that's the way it's been for us. Our first year, we had straw bales around the camper and completely regret it. For about the same money, we bought enough insulation to go around the whole camper. I think we even had enough to put up in a bunch of cabinets, on the outside walls and ceilings in them. That cut way down on condensation, too. Good luck on your journey😎

    • @Escaping_TheOrdinary
      @Escaping_TheOrdinary  5 днів тому +1

      Yeah, we had hay bales in that one spot that is now open on the slide. We knew we didn't wanna do that again. We have insulation on all the windows that's seemed to help. Yes the condensation can be so bad in the winter, it's crazy! Thank you so much! & you as well! 😊

    If you can, leave your sinks on a small drip,,it will help with the pipes from freezing.

    2 inch foam board your slides, it will help with heat loss. Use heat trace on your water line going into the camper. P.S. duct tape won't work on the foam board use that silver duct tape. And use the foam board on the slide bottom. We spent 10 years in our 5th wheel in Texas thru the ice and snow storms, freezing temps and survived. We also used double carpets on every floor. (Home depot, foam backed carpet).

    I enclosed the trailer with 1 layer of crap no name thin reflectix, 2 coats of silicon paint, then another layer of reflectix in 2023, and just added another layer to the outside 2 days ago so 2.5 layers now, I have a 170w under rug heater in the under space, which has my batteries, grey treatment, and 600 gal water tank, with the 170w heater at 21F , 66F under and 70F inside. With just the first crap layer at 50F I had to run my 1500w heater. With the second layer I was using a 350w heater all day and 40 mins of the 1500w at -27F the underspace low was 34F, this year I plan to rely on the 170w and short burst the 1500w 2 times a day. Night and day difference having the heat come through the floor, better than a lot of houses I lived in. When I had 1.5 layers, I turned the heat off for 15 hours at 5F and temp drops from 70F to 42F, without the insulation it would freeze in 2 hours and never feel warm. Power consumption per day under 5kwh, 2x 1500w space heaters is 72kwh. Next build I won't put insulation on the ground , instead 18-inch sand bed and make a sand heater. 2 layers of resisto on a 28ft 5th costs $1000.00 then 500 for silicon paint or the sun will eat the resisto.
