The Ultimate Boiled Corn (Corn On The Cob) Recipe.
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 вер 2014
- Perfectly seasoned boiled corn unlike any you've ever had before. Caribbean cookbook author Chris De La Rosa shares his recipe for corn on the cob done as it's traditionally done in his native Trinidad and Tobago. Sweet corn is boiled with perfectly seasoned coconut milk and herbs to enhance the flavors of the corn.
This way of making corn on the cob is traditional to rural parts of the Caribbean and typically freshly grated coconut is used instead of the canned coconut milk I opted for. Some people know it as Tobago corn.
You'll Need...
5-8 large corns
2 scallions
3 sprigs thyme
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 cups coconut milk
1 tablespoon chopped parsley
1 large clove garlic
1 tablespoon chopped shado beni (optional)
1 scotch bonnet or habanero pepper (whole)
* salt if you so desire
* water

Hi Chris - Thank you for sharing. What do you do with the coconut + water that remains in the pot? Do you drink it as soup? It seems such a waste to throw. Appreciate your thoughts. Many thanks.
I need a cooking husband like you!!!

hi Chris always check out your recipes,i must say Gasparillo. is no longer a slow part of Trinidad, try getting caught in a traffic jam you would think you are in new york
Sorry, Chris, did mine (corn) just boiled, forgot the salt and that was good as I salted my breaded zucchinis a bit too much and blood pressure is high, but your recipe sounds delicious and I try it when I'll have all the ingredients.
Exquisite post with all the details, wanted to recommend you to write a cook book, but you did, and you located somewhere I cannot get, but I have been there twice.I 'll have to here otherwise I'll write you a novel.
Your just great, for cooking, three girls, wanting to climb the mountain that looses it's snow slowly, but surely...and helping all those needy kids with AIDS. I can only wish. I wish you and all the climbers all the good luck in everything and come back spiritually enhanced. Can not wait to listen to the other recipes on the side, Macaroni Pie and spicy fried chicken...
The best to you?
Emi
Emilia Nyerghes give himalayan salt a try, it has many many health benefits and it lowers blood pressure and it prevents muscle cramping,
balances your electrolytes, helps your body absorb nutritients, balances PH levels
propers your metabolism, reduces acid reflux && improves circulation. google it, it's pretty great my mom introduced it to me :) :)
Yes more flavor with the skins
nice
Can you make a recipe with soup. Using corn just like the Caribbean please?
Hello, love your channel, quick question if the corn is frozen how long do I boil it for?
Frozen corn will get mushy. You will want to use fresh corn.
if i am using trinidad corn how long will i have to leave it to boil ?

Hi Chris! I was wondering if you had a recipe for corn soup? I have been trying to make it for a while now but I haven't found a good recipe that I can use.
Sarah Myers I second that. I have had some amazing corn soups in Asia (especially Taiwan). I would love to see Chris's.
Looks so good but here in Buffalo NY USA, it's past corn season :-( The corn out now is left over crap. Mosdef, I'm writing this recipe down for next season for sure!!!!! Thanx for sharing ;-)
Mark Tabron where in buffalo you live? I've been here a year now and I can't find caribbean people lol.
Mark Tabron I'm in Clarence
😋😋😋
Oh yeah, I found it, do you have a good cream corn in the oven recipe?
Big up di chef! mi tief da recipe ya
If you did use ground coconut, how much would you put in?
Always love Chris cooking but the difference between corn in the Caribbean and the US is that Caribbean corn is very much in the natural side
Corn Soup Recipe please!!
SirDutty Oh yeah.
give himalayan salt a try, it also has health benefits like
- strengthens bones
- lowers blood pressure
- prevents muscle cramping
- balances your electrolytes
- helps your body absorb nutritients
- balances PH levels
- propers your metabolism
and the list goes on.
it's very very good for us. :)
could you do a corn soup recipe please :)
Iiree Mon!
Where is the recipe, Chris? I'd like to know how much coconut milk you used to "sweeten" the 4 ears of corn that you boiled. And you mentioned adding something called Shadow Benny. How much? Thanks!
What does the coconut milk do?
Do you spread butter on the corn as well?
to be honest no need to do so.
Asking this question may be a sin!
Is there any Jamaican "ready mixed" powder or liquid sauces you recommend?
I can't ever find scoth bonnets.
That question is not a sin lol...It's called Scotch bonnets and most Asian food markets have a Caribbean section, but that would be a good video idea for him to do because I'm sure other people don't know where and what brands to buy.
I usually use fresh habaneros. No scotch bonnet peppers available here either
What can I use as a sub for coconut milk?
milk..
I must admit i do mines a bit different, lots of coconut milk well
season and lot of hot pepper, got to be real hot and spicy and well
season, so yes i will give your way a tried,
wait u from gasparillo?
Can I use any corn???
