How to Install the GIMP Resynthesizer Plugin (Windows)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 жов 2024
- In this GIMP 2.10 tutorial, I show you how to download the free Resynthesizer plugin (most similar to Photoshop's Content Aware Fill) for Windows. I show you where to add your installation files so that the plugin will work in GIMP, and also provide a quick demonstration of the Resynthesizer tool by erasing an object in an image.

Woah, I'm glad to found your channel. Helping me to understand how to use GIMP perfectly. Now I'm your new subscriber. Thank you!
Thanks for subscribing!
THIS IS EXCELLENT!!! I followed step by step and FINALLY got to remove something I've been trying to do for weeks. Thank you so much!
Thankyou so much for these tutorials. I'm a newbie to all this and am extremely grateful.
On a windows system, if you open gimp, and go preferences > folders > Plug-ins, you can then select the folder with your plug-ins, and at the top right click on the file cabinet icon (show file location in the file manager). Just another way to get there, but without having to copy/paste the path.
Thank you very much for this. The tool is really good. Since this was the first plugin I installed for GIMP, I had no idea in what folders the files were supposed to go. You helped a lot. Thank you!
Thank you! I was looking for this plug-in all day
and your tutorial helped me. Now I can heal quickly objects! You make the best tutorials!!!😀
Thank you for your orientation. With Resynthesizer and G'Mic, Gimp is a very powerful tool!
Thank you sooo much! Adult me had a hard time wondering why my teenage self enjoyed using timestamps and how to fix/remove them, thanks to this zip file and tutorial, I was able to fix my pics! :)))

Thank you Michael. I just got a new computer and new gimp version - I really like the heal tool.
Going to watch another of your videos on how to get the whole tool box to show- the newer version is a bit confusing for this older non-techy guy, but you make it easy - You are an Awesome Teacher!
Thank you for another practical and easy-to-follow tutorial, Michael. ✊
Wow, thanks for this instructions. The healing filter is crazy! Love it!
Thanks for this video, that healing tool saves lives!
Thanks! Glad I found your channel today. Easy to follow & very informative. I usually hate watching YT videos because it just takes so long to get to the point you want, but this is concise & I could follow on my end just by listening to you while minimized. Looking forward to learning about the heal selection next!
Thank you so much, I just installed my first plug-in. :) Now I need to learn how to install brushes and textures.

Thank you. I was pulling out the last of my hair out as a photoshop user trying to install this plugin! Thanks for a great tutorial video.
Instead just hunt down the asshat who has the shit-ton of friends who approved the pull to screw up GIMP in its updates. That moron "fixed" what worked.
I can't believe how well this works! Thank you, sir.
Thank you. Very compact but containing all info that is needed.
Great help for my Gimp !! Thank you very much for this tutorial. Regards from Uruguay!

Hi, thank you for the video . I am facing a problem. Though I copy paste those plug in files in proper destination I can't find the features in Gimp filter . I use Windows. Thank you.
I noticed you had a plugin for Beautify which looked like an EXE file application in your plugins folder. Where did you get that? That's what I was looking for when I came across this. Thanks for the rundown on Resynthesizer.
i didddd it. this is actually a big deal for me because i never do antything right .
thank you
I enjoy your tutorials and they have been very helpful. I did want to learn how to restore old photos which require Resnthesizer. I am on Gimp 2.10.22! In Github the readme file for this plug-in does not open.

For Debian-based systems, the package is gimp-plugin-registry.

@@gm-fi9lt Try "sudo apt install gimp-plugin-registry" or "sudo apt-get install gimp-plugin-registry" without quotes

After I updated gimp to 2.10.28, it stopped working, it shows on the list but just can't click it, how do I fix that?
Michael, I just got a new computer. Now I've loaded Gimp 2 10.24. I've lost my heal resynthesizer as well as my Script-fu plugins. Not happy about that. I tried doing what you suggested here. They files are in the correct place, but still isn't working. I hope I find a way to get this easy heal tool back. If you have another way, or if the new version has another way, please let me know.
I tried reinstalling an earlier version. No luck there either.
I couldn't do this. I got as far as copying the plug-in address in Gimp but then I couldn't work out how to get the resynthesizer files into that plug in folder. You were too quick for me. Please help.
Could you please help, when I go to paste the plugin link from Gimp to the folder page, it just says "this folder is empty"???
Doesn't work
I keep seeing this video pop up when searching for a SilverChrome filter. I LOVED Eye Candy 7 chrome/reflective plugin, but Gimp/Resynthesizer doesn't seem to have anything close to doing so :(
All I want to do, is simply create a selection and transform it into a shiny, metallic image! Can you please advise on how to do this within GIMP/Resynth or other plugins?
Thank you.
Thank you very much
can you please make a video how to use glyphs in gimp i've searching on the web with no succes
My Guy! you hook it up, good looks.
Thank you!
This plugging does not work with new versions of Gimp 20.10.22 crashes it every time
For me it also doesnt work
I always follow you and I'm subscribed to your channel but I downloaded it from its creator's page but it doesn't work, it doesn't even register it, I have the gimp version 2.10.22, but I don't know, if the plugin is from 2017 it doesn't work, it doesn't I had on an old gimp but I lost it. Waiting for response from someone to help me.
worked for me, tysm!
Great! What about Ubuntu?
apt-get install gimp-plugin-registry or
aptitude install gimp-plugin-registry or
apt install gimp-plugin-registry

@@DaviesMediaDesign plugin installed and working! Thanks a lot!
Thanks for a clear information. I've tried github before, but it's a nightmare if you're not a coder/developer. I've tried many other plugins via the site, but often they are produced so you need linux or linux knowledge to actually install/implement the python code, which doesn't work easily (at all) in windows. Many of the developed plugins need to be installed via linux. This is the first one I've found that is just a 'copy and paste into the plugins directory' method :) On that note, do you have any suggestions for other plugins that are 'windows friendly'? Ideally, something to do quality noise reduction, sort of like Topaz Denoise AI?
You save my Life Thank you very mutch :)
Why doesn't GIMP just come with this already installed?
As far as I understand for Linux version of GIMP 2.10. it's impossible to install this plugin in usuall way. As it's considered to be incompatible or something...
worked great for me
That heal selection ain't available in Linux version of the plugin.
followed all instructions then reopened gimp and filters , enhance and it was not there at all.
Can this be done with transparent layers?
help, why my gimp heal selection not showing up :( ?
i'm already put that plugins to the correct folder
any solution?
HYPE ME UP!!!
THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!!
hey you went to my same school :)
Hey, I keep receiving error messages from gimp when I try to use this tool, like "gimp plug in returned no values" and "the dying plug-in may have messed up gimp's internal state. you may want to save your images and restart gimp to be on the safe side." Got any clue what went wrong?
got the same problem
reinstall gimp quickly
Did reinstalling it fix it? Because I'm facing the same thing. I'm also using version 2.10.20 - a later version than what is in the tutorial.
@@angelaarmstrong9555 yeah
@@lesserknownfacts7849 Reinstalled and still having the same problem. Sooo frustrating.
On a windows system, if you open gimp, and go preferences > folders > Plug-ins, you can then select the folder with your plug-ins, MY FOLDERS DOEN'T SHOW A PLUG-IN FOLDER. just a temperary folder and an exchange folder
Unfortunately haven't been able to download a 32-bit windows resynthesizer plugin that can pass a virustotal scan without reporting 1-2 injected malware in the .exe files.
Hi! I run Gimp2.0 on a Macbook Pro with El Capitan10.11 OS. Do you have any instructions on how to install Resynthesizer on it?
Thank you
I'm trying to test the program, but when I do it, it's asking me "The texture source is empty. Does any selection include non-transparent pixels?" How do I resolve this issue? Thanks in advance
Im facing with the same problem. Followed every step carefully but got that the same error message.
You have to set the radius of the free selection tool to 0.0. Fixed it for me
are you familiar with seperate + can you help me with that ?
I am using gimp 2.10.20 and 32bit pc ....If I install the plugin in gimp... It make my script fu option disappear....?!!!
I followed all of these instructions to the T yet the plug-in features still do not appear as an option and in addition my GIMP is now unable to open any files reading "unknown file error"
Any advice would be really apreciated...
Thanks
