Therefore, should I embrace his F - ranking of the bosu ball squat and try to horse some serious steel and cause a tidal wave of quadriceps mutation?

I feel like all these rankings are mostly about how to do the least amount of work in the least athletic way and still see some growth.
Seems like science based lifting is all about justifying doing the least amount of work.
Honestly, I think the way you said, "Johnny Quitter," was perfect. You gave up searching for a better name out of sheer disappointment. It's perfect.
😂😂
RDLs plus high bar back squats are in my humble opinion the most efficient two-exercise leg day. You can alternate the order of course to prioritize one over the other.
I think the key element is that Jeff is a pure bodybuilder and judges exercises almost exclusively based on hypertrophy.
Jump squats are an S-tier to me because you're fucking jumping, precisely. The only better thing would be sprints.
If you wanna develop your body, not just your physique, these are fantastic and essential.
You don't wanna be a handicapped behemoth.
Sissy squats are pretty much the only squat variation that I can do since having back surgery and they can absolutely cook your legs. They are S-tier in my case
Agreed. And reverse nordics are great too. I am a big fan of heavy squats but I use sissy squats and reverse nordics and it really made a difference in terms of what my quad looks like.
@Anandfulness I've never really tried reverse nordics much. I get the whole stretch component is crazy but i dont see how you can really progress it beyond doing more reps. I might have to try them more to get a better assessment.

Jeff gives off salad eater energy
Biggest guy to get lost in a crowd of middle schoolers energy
@@Hebra1way to completely misunderstand his point. he agreed with dr. mike that you should stick to a diet of lean, minimally processed foods where possible - he also said that inclusive diets where you focus on the things that DO fit your nutrition goals are better than the ones where you are absolutely holding certain foods as off limits at all costs. he did NOT say you can eat whatever the hell you want. for as many people here insist on shitting on jeff nippard, it's amazing how none of them (except basement bodybuilding) can actually refute anything he's talking about without strawmanning it to hell.
I got pony chicken energy out the little guy
Dick riding UA-camrs is weird
@@Hebra1it’s just easy engagement bait for these UA-camrs and also the dick riding from their fans. I don’t even watch jeff videos because I out grew them in my lifting career yet all this gossip about him and science based training is so pathetic. It should have stopped with just exercise selections done to detail and how intensity is important in training for muscle growth. Like bro is trying disprove nippards exercise selection when he’s talking about having multiple injuries that required surgery, I’m not a dick rider so I wondered why someone who trains high intensity almost all the time and cheats his form a lot has multiple injuries in the past 🤔.
The fact that Mr.Spicy just dropped this beauty of a trilogy throughout all the suboptimal distractions and interruptions proves that it is truly A MINDSET.
Holy Buckets that was hella informative yet extremely entertaining. Thanks for your 2 cents, Dr. Density
what kind of pencil neckery is 'psychologically challenging'
Great video as usual, I love hearing your advice about different exercises and how they can help with others
For someone that's been watching you for about a decade. This is peak content!!
I can't believe zercher squats are not on Jeff's list. That is one exercise that will make any pencil neck thick as a horse and strong as an ox.
Actually, I can believe zercher squats are not on Jeff's list
@@user-zi8wh3wv2q lol
Zercher are the king nuts. They make back squats look like small balls.
I've been doing 100 rep sets of unilateral leg extensions sitting on top of the reverse hyper, leaning way back. Boy. Volumous VMO pumps, shaking legs, veins popping from the bloodflow. Now when I go up a flight of stairs, there is no cracking and popping (which was audible to people and freaked them out for YEARS)
REMEMBER FELLAS! The liquid inside your articulations is just FILTERED BLOOD that has to go through a layer of cells that surround the meniscus for example. Force that fricking stuff because we over here on the research side are gonna need like 20 years to make wd-40 you can inject yourself with

The final chapter begins. Jeff ain't ready for this knowledge.
It might not beat squatting or regular hack squats, but sissy squat on the hack squat is pretty nice. You can still load some pretty serious weight and you can get as much or more stretch than the leg extension.
Yup, and reverse nordics feel pretty good for stretching but are harder to load and progress on.
On the goblet squat if nippard sunk down to put his elbows onside his knees his glutes would be 2 ft into the floor, thank god for being tall.
Rick de la stick changed my l
Training forever your the reason i just woke up one day from scince based training I was a hopelss addict fiending for the next study showing my high volume low weight cable work is the only thing I needed.
I had some of the boys i work out wirh put on slabs of meat get bug as hell just pressing and moving dumbells and barbells .. and some select smith machines.
I was in denial then watching you lift with the glory of going super heavy and trashing the borning, sterile, science on flavor of being a psycho and pushing hard, I am 4 months clean, when and where i use i use a barbell or dumbell, on a special occasion i may dabble in some drop set cable debauchery.
I can never see training the same and I am having a ton of fun again, and finally my elbow is killing me i finally earned some tendonitis, dont feel like a puss anymore.
This is exactly what I needed a couple hours before my full body workout.
Something that really helped me with the quad extensions was starting to incorporate it with ONLY isometrics. Place the machine close to lockout, then lock out your knees and hold for time. A few sets of 60 second holds with light weight is AMAZING!
When I was wrestling for my university team, 20 rep barbell jump squats every leg day (no rest between reps, continuous) and I added weight not just the bar. The results were unreal. I cannot disagree with Jeff’s ranking of that one any more
Damn, that was a really good Arnold impression!
Ricky! I fractured my patella, got it reconstructed in 2019, and I am this friggin close to having matching horsecockery on the leg extension machine. Thounsands of single leg extensions later, and BAM. Seeing the progress is muwah, bueatiful.
Wow. Hearing Eric talk about goblet squats is serendipitous to me right now. Just got back from a trip to New Orleans and was limited to 50 lb dumbells in the hotel. I crushed a bunch of goblet squats with the 50's. I could barely walk around for the next couple of days! 😂 My quads have NEVER been that sore before. Was absolutely blown away at the DOMS I was experiencing. Lasted for a week! 😫 Definitely going to heed his advice and implement them from now on. 💪
I'm gonna do two sets of them to failure with 40lbs before I do split squats with 145lbs now. I did them once two days ago and my legs are as sore compared to when I started lifting in general.

High reps for legs is killer. I tried it today off your tidbit from last video ("20 rep squats"). Thanks Stick!
2 days since and my quads are still fried!
I'd been doing 150kg (10 reps 3 sets) on the Rogers Squat for about 2 months - never really got doms.
Then decided to try this tidbit and only did leg extensions (35kg for 50,40,30 reps).
MR SPICE HORSE will OVERCOME the challenge set by Johnny Optimal Stringbean
Eric you are so right!!
My quads exploded when I started doing just leg press, hack squats, leg extension and lunges at high reps, helped with obviously twice a week back squats.
When I spent time on these, they grew an inch in about two months, just sticking to that classic stuff, quads respond incredibly well to weighted stretch with high loads.
FINALLY, THE SEQUEL PART 2
I could easily watch a 4 hour video like this with no cuts whatsoever
Bosu experiment sounds amazing - I need part 4
sticky ricky is DENSE with KNOWLEDGE of the IRON
Dan John Invented the goblet squat. You two are currently my two favorite fitness influencers on UA-cam.(BTW)
“Oh jeez Louise” LMAO that’s my exact reaction to a lot of the list too
As someone with major issues with their feet, leg extensions have been a blessing as my only exercise for my quads since I can no longer squat anymore. I continually try to get more weight and more reps and am currently sitting at 250 lbs for 10 reps with no knee or hip pain. The same goes for the leg curl machine for my hamstrings.
The pilgrimage continues!
Running back and forth from the door to the TV = cardio.
thanks for keeping it post, eric
Totally agree on goblet squat, i use it to help get people in the whole and improve form😊
Exactly a phenomenal exercise for ability and strength. I have a video about it and I love it.
This video trilogy is Eric's magnum opus of reaction critiques
Best video of all time
every time I watch your videos I come away wanting to include all the variations you suggest and change my whole program lol.
Will probably add goblet squats as a warm up though, since my back squat is abysmal (it's 1.15x my bench...)
jokes aside, the advice around leg extensions and accessories like jump squats and wall sits was pretty interesting. i'll give them a shot!
Rick, we need a tank variety of the thickasfrick shirt.
I AGREE
Im accruing psychological fatigue and mental taxation from listening to Jeffery Nippard’s “Johnny Quitter” rhetoric.
I do a four day a week upper lower split. I’ve programmed sissy squats on one day and extensions on the next. I basically do these to warm up my knee’s before moving on to my heavy quad exercises (back squat/hack squat). Since I’ve even mentioned warming up my knees I’ll also say that I do a leg curl or laying leg curl before any of the quad exercises I’m doing right now. It’s a good way to warm up your knees before really putting them under load from your quad exercises. This feels good for me and I hope that maybe this helps someone out. Basically my point is sissy squats are just the appetizer for me right now, not the main dish of horse cock.
What do you think of the Rogers Power Squat?
I've been doing that, hoping it carries over to normal barbell squats.
I just can't stand the bar digging into my frickin vertebra (even with the stupid cushion) with normal barbell squats.
We need bosu ball content!
The holy trilogy is finally complete.
I don't think anyone (with sense) uses a sissy squat as a replacement for a regular back squat. It's actually a replacement for a leg extension, and is supposed to be in addition to a back squat...not instead of.
Bulgarian split squats do have a mental component to it, I do them after squats so I'm already pretty tired. After I'm done with them I get a great sense of accomplishment and I wobble home for the weekend.
We're plucking hairs with this one fellas

Watching these videos is like being chauffeured through traffic in the concrete jungle we call the fitness industry. Pure class, stick.
I love the goblet squat to warmup for low bar back squat for the same reasons. Get deep and drive your knees out.
Babe wake up, Dr. Density just finished the trilogy
Best channel on UA-cam!! All I want is more reactions to Jeff Nipples.
No Johnny Quitters in these pastures boys
You've hit a pr with this 3 parter
Sticky Ricky....I hate to break it to you man, but the world's biggest proponent of sissy squats is Tom Platz. No lie.
I want to see these two do an in-person collaboration
Years ago when I was studying for my PT cert, Step up's were rated as one of the top athletic/functional patterns.
I'm just so addicted to the barbell movements. Tonight is legs, I'll try and get either some step-ups or Bulbarian split-squats to add to the list.
For me, I notice the leg striations and thickness really pop when I do a lot of sets of leg extensions. I prioritize squats but it is an observation i've made in my own progress. Can't really deny it.
Stack up some box jump boxes or whatever and do ankle to balls height step ups
I like high rep, big ROM bodyweight step-ups as a finisher after my RDLs and high bar squats. Really feel the glutes especially and quads on those, and it's a simple way to work in some unilateralism, plus balance work and explosiveness from a dead stop at the bottom.
Welcome back gentlemen
eric we need some medium sized pump covers for the pencil necks amongst us!
Sooooooooooo quintessential Eric.
The last video of the trilogy just dropped, as it was written!!!
