I found an electrical apprenticeship when I was 28. Qualified in 2015 at the age of 32. Think I was lucky to have found an employer willing to put me through it. Got paid £10 an hour from starting.
Good video however it's not as easy as just get an apprenticeship especially as an older candidate. I think what is needed is for several candidate's at various age's and levels of experience/skills to apply for multiple apprenticeships via small businesses. Record the replies along with a follow up of the actual reason most are unsuccessful and for this to be presented to the government/awarding bodies. Unfortunately you have hit the nail on the head with the costs and benefits to hiring an older candidate vs a younger and ultimately 9/10 it down to the cost. The government put these options out there but don't do any research before or after into if these ideas work or not. All that matters is that on paper there's options available. In reality there isn't any help , so they offer you the next best form of achieving the same thing, only for the candidate to lfind out 3 years later its not the same thing and now you're back to square one with all that wasted time, stress, debt, lack of experience and a future of more debt, training, assessments but only if you can find employment. The route for learning a trade is all wrong and government will never understand what their doing wrong until they have walked a mile in the shoes of the people the system has failed.

There are decent employers out there, who are willing to pay for common sense and maturity 🙌
Another good video on how to get into the industry, yes money is extremely important but the experiences that it offers are sometimes are worth more.
Thank you for your ongoing support Michael 🙏
The diploma is only for experienced people so you shouldnt have issue when finding work
