Con: Showing how to tie knots from 20 feet away.
Pro: Loved the video though. Very straightforward and no filler.

As long as the figure of 8 has the rating stamped on it and is in good condition when inspected before each use it is fine to use the type in the film (this particular one was bought from an arborist supply store) it differs from some in that it doesn't have the prongs on either side but are not necessary when using the hard lock method. Thanks

It would be nice to be able to see the knots up close, just seeing the arrangement and order of the knots would really help.

Aah cool! Just checking. I'm fairly new to all of this, but running with some of the best. Trying to learn as much as I can.

Have you ever done a video on listing the benefits of a base anchor and the benefits of a canopy anchor? I know one of the big benefits of a base anchor is that a groundsman can lower an injured climber but are there any other benefits? like limb load. I have seen several videos that tie there base anchor to some other object and not the tree that they are climbing, I somewhat understand the compression versus the bending loads but it would be nice if someone would do a video and better explain. Also your videos are very well put together most of the other videos I watch to see what not to do.

Can I use a figure 8 with ears/hooks on the sides? How does the configuration change if so?

Climbing arborist, please can you do a video on climbing with the use of two ropes. I do council work and am struggling to work this out. I’ve a drt setup and a chicane srt setup both with zigzag. I also want to add this sort of system so my ground crew can lower me. Any recommendations? I thought about using my access line as the lowering point like this, and in addition use the two ropes to climb with so in total three ropes. Crazy huh?

Hi, could you just use a normal bowline knot at the end of the offcut rope instead of an Arborist ring?

More of a close up to see set up would be great?

Why not just tie an Italian hitch directly in to an Krab and tie this off using the same method shown in the video, you can then do away with the figure of 8 descender altogether.

This will work as your rope is at least 3 to

Wouldn't it be a bit more proper to use the heavy duty figure 8 opposed to the rock climbers one? That is if your using it as your climbing base. Knowing how tree climbing gear regulations differs from that of rock climbing.

I don't like how the eight is locked off. Imagine the eight is under load then this method looks better because the friction isn't reduced during lock / unlock:
