Your review was excellent. I have watched a great number of reviews on the Smooth 4 and it always comes down to if you're on iPhone its a GO but if you're on Android it's iffy. So I'm happy that you were using an Android phone for your review and pointed out all the weaknesses. Since this will be my first gimbal I guess I will focus more on the dji 3 and the Freevision SE/PRO which have caught my eye. Anyway, thanks for making that debate easier. I really wanted to be convinced to buy the Smooth 4 but it looks like that's not happening now.
Have you found any gimbal that is reliable on Android? Everything I am reading shows bad reviews for Android. I am specifically interested in the object or face tracking feature
One thing they don’t tell you was that when the dial is set to zoom then your camera is doing auto focus. The other is that your pics get stored in the smooth 4 until you manually save them to your phone. Also if not connected to the app the gimbal motors will still work and your phone cam will work as normal including ultra wide and telephoto lenses.
Hi... could you do a video on blogging for Android. Like how to use a spliter and a microphone and flash. Would love your help on this for the smooth 4. David
Appreciate the review. Just bought the gimbal to use with my Lg v20! Been hearing alot about the crappy app. Hear it works seamlessly with the Filmic pro app. Give it a try and review again.
I have Filmic Pro and fro video it is great. However it still has a few hiccups and it missing all the bells and whistles, vertigo, programmed motion, motion time lapse, etc.
i knew what i was getting into when buying this one. As i'm used to pro camera i really like the ability to do everything from hardware buttons. A joystick functionality would be nice but i can live without it (since i'll obviously use it handheld most of the time). The zoom/focus wheel is "meh" on my android phone. But the L/PF switch and the 2 back button... daaaaammmn i love it. I needed a fast action gimbal and the smooth 4 is one, despite its name :D
Hey great review. i have 2 big questionss the gimbal and the live stream situation. :) However it seems a few years old video now. But i never had a gimbal before i want to record professional style stabilised videos from my samsung note 10+ and so im curious to know if this gimbal is the best to buy today in 2020 or is there newer models? the fact i like this gimabl because it has buttons and all that funtionality like zoom and everything. Not all gimbals do the same. And not all gimbals are that realistic smooth when walking around using a gimbal with the phone.... But you can let me know ? Also what happens if i want to lets say live stream on youtube with the phone.. can the gimbal somehow let me connect some kind of cable to the device and phone or something in order to keep the live stream good? not sure how that will work.. But i do see many people with selfies sticks with a phone and live stream on youtube and they seem to have this white or red cable connected to the phone and inside a packpack... must be a device inside someones bag to broadcast live stream. But anyways please let me know all this as it is important before i begin to buy anything. Thank you.
Which one should I buy for Android phone - zhiyun smooth 4 or smooth Q2 ? I heard zhiyun app compatibility issues with android. I am having xiaomi mi note 10 lite so, any recommendations which gimbal to purchase ?
What kind of phone are you using if I may ask? I just purchased a Zhiyun-tech Smooth 4 and use an iPhone 7+ and the more I practice with the Vertigo mode the smoother it gets. Perhaps your phone isn't completely compatible or your wheel might be defective.
Jim Foster I've tried the LG v20 and v30. Unfortunately the Android compatibility list is VERY limited. I really don't understand why they have such a great gimbal with little compatibility on the Android side. I'm sure it'll happen and I'll make another vid 👍 maybe
I can understand the frustration with these apps I own a Dji Osmo mobile and a Phantom 3 pro and a Mavic pro and since I flew my Phantom my app won't support my Osmo. Not a huge problem because I can use Flimic pro but still annoying none the less.
Ohhhh no I just use the LG phone camera app IT'S AWESOME and probably the best on the market for phone film making. The new LG phones are the best for manual shooting controls
I own a huawei p10. Is it fully compatible with this gimbal? Can use vertigo, and auto lock follow without app crashing? I read comments saying app is bugged so im afraid. Im planning to buy this soon
Nice review, honestly shared software and firmware issues, appreciate a lot. Can you give a demo of functions like 320° panning and other tips to get steady shots
AR Augustine Jesuraja I plan to do another vid when my phone actually works with it. I wish they'd hurry up already. Thanks for the kind words by the way 😃👍
The product lasted about 6 weeks. Worked fine. But in the middle of recording one day it just suddenly started rapidly vibrating. It started going crazy, basically throwing my camera around.
Yes, I think the tracking is an android issue, as has been mentioned by other UA-cam, Smooth4 android users. I just received my gimbal for use with my iPhone XR/Filmic Pro and I'm very satisfied, so far, with the gimbal.
I haven't been able to find any info on whether or not the tracking works. Most reviews are by iPhone users. This is the first person who actually mentions it that I have seen. Do you know if it is working now or how to know what devices it works on?
Thank you for this excellent demonstration. For general information, I own a Pixel 4XL with "built-in Zyiyun support (according to the Filmic evaluation app)". Using that app (you can't mistake it with the actual filming app. which costs money) You can probably "pre-check" by loading that evaluation app to see if your phone supports this gimbal (I know it's "cheating", but we have to use our resources, haha). There's a LOT of information that app can give you about your phone's camera, including film speeds that can be set by the software in the spp as opposed to the set speed on the camera, blah blah blah. It's worth a look. The developers have explained elsewhere that the issue with Android phones is the myriad hardware manufacturers. Apple manufactures their phones as the OEM, which is not the case with Android, not even with "Google phones", since "Google" is not an OEM (original equipment manufacturer). So the app in order to work well with Android would have to accommodate the idiosyncrasies of literally hundreds of hardware manufacturers' combinations in order to work as smoothly as the Apple version, which only has to cater to one (and the same as the software manufacturer) OEM. This should, at least, help people to understand that Android is an operating system working on hundreds of combinations of hardware. Maybe it isn't excusable, but it may be "understandable". I've never used a joystick so I don't miss it. This seems a very nice piece of equipment, though. There'a learning curve, but I think it will be worth it. Major setback ---> The inability to upload your photos where you WANT to. You have to go into the file system on your phone and pull them out to send to google photos or wherever. Otherwise, your only choice is to upload to the Zhiyun cloud. To me, severely limiting your "choice" like that, is simply bad customer interface design. We need to be able to upload to our OWN clouds, not just Zhiyun's.
Thanks for explaining why it is harder for them to get it working on Android. That makes it understandable. But to me it is still inexcusable to not list what does or doesn't work in their ad.
Same issue I think you might need to try to calibrate it. There is a firmware updater / calibration app that you can use to calibrate the gimbal while its plugged into your PC.
It seems to me as a great gimbal, but with the horrible app. I was about to buy this one,but after checking app and software issues for Android users it was not worth of wasting money. Will buy something else. Anyway, very good review.
ya, I am sad that this great gimbal does not work for my Galaxy 8+. The tracking not working is a deal breaker. sigh... Great review for us Android users.
That was the best demo I’ve seen so far on how to use this thing. Thanks so much.

Buy it i have a andriod and it works fine i have never had an issue
@@brendalg4 full support of filmic pro so you don't have the limitations of the zhyiun app anymore. But need to buy filmic

Does it work with an iPhone 6 Plus?
Honest Answer: Smooth 4 or Smooth Q? which one is better?
Does this gimbal has an inception Mode?
I need the joy stick my ? Is why add features to remove another .
Do you have to remove the phone case out before you put it in ? Does it work with Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus and Note 9?
Hi... could you do a video on blogging for Android. Like how to use a spliter and a microphone and flash. Would love your help on this for the smooth 4. David
I hope they update the software so the trigger controls the zoom and yes make that optical
hi can u put a dlsr hd camra on it like a canon camra or a panasonic lumix dmc camra on it can u let me no please george
I would say no you can't
You can't- Zhiyun has another gimbal for those cameras.
Appreciate the review. Just bought the gimbal to use with my Lg v20! Been hearing alot about the crappy app. Hear it works seamlessly with the Filmic pro app. Give it a try and review again.

There was a firmware update in December 2018. Are you working on an update on performance improvements?
Not yet but if I have time I will 😃👍 Thanks!
I am, V 1.77 and these issues are still existing. It's a real bummer because the V20 V30 V40 are the pro smartphones for video photography.
I bought one but the recorded video using zy app does not play, only the audio plays. How to resolve the issue?

How does it work for live streams? Does it retain its motion tracking functions when LS on FB or is it only with the ZS app?
please is it compatible with Huawei P30 Pro

Isaiah's Reviews letd hope the android support comes at all. Gimbal is super good. The app is the bad part.
AVIAN I hope it happens

Can someone help me how to use front camera on smooth 4 please
Is it compatible with Iphone XR?
Confused about the top button.. click once and hold, click twice and hold.. no mention of this on zhiyun website
Yes people use portrait mode in gimbal--For intagram which is in portrait orientation.
I own a huawei p10. Is it fully compatible with this gimbal? Can use vertigo, and auto lock follow without app crashing? I read comments saying app is bugged so im afraid. Im planning to buy this soon
Is that the LGG6?
LG v30 or v20 probably v20. I just did a gimbal review with the v30 dropping in a few minutes so yeah the v20 on the smooth 4 😃👍
Nice review, honestly shared software and firmware issues, appreciate a lot.

Awesome Vid of the Smooth 4
IS ZHIYUN SMOOTH 4 COMPATIBLE WITH HUAWEI P30 PRO?
90% compatible.. some features don’t work with android.. I have p20 pro
The product lasted about 6 weeks. Worked fine. But in the middle of recording one day it just suddenly started rapidly vibrating. It started going crazy, basically throwing my camera around.
Thanks, very helpfull. 🍻 👍 👊
Wil that suit gopro?

with mi mix 2 the zoom is not smooth, so no vertigo effect
greeting, good tutorial my friend and compact from indonesia
good review thank you very much
The zhiyun platform is always crooked! I don't know what the problem is, just reset it! But with the last few times, it's crooked again? What?
Same issue I think you might need to try to calibrate it. There is a firmware updater / calibration app that you can use to calibrate the gimbal while its plugged into your PC.
Calibrate
Very good idea pro 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Smooth 4 only with Panning:300°, but I know there is another brand FeiyuTech has SPG 2 with Panning:360°
Firmware fix the issues for android yet? 🙄
Yes I agree, works great with iPhone, 80% compatible with android phones. I’m still waiting over a year for fixes. I’ll probably switch to a iPhone
STOP, DROP AND ROLL... I just ordered one for Christ Mass!
It seems to me as a great gimbal, but with the horrible app. I was about to buy this one,but after checking app and software issues for Android users it was not worth of wasting money. Will buy something else. Anyway, very good review.

Have you found a gamble that is able to do object or face tracking in Android?
Nice review, thanks anyway
Book marking.
Everyone knows utility but compatibility of which smartphones.
Bad design, without extension rod, it's not good use when doing selfie.
Portrait mode used for Instagram stories 😊
Zoom not jerky on iPhone 11 Pro
The APP is terrible. The gimbal is not smooth. My using experience of smooth 4 is too bad.
Same for me, my phone is in compatibility list (galaxy note _) but much of fonctions doesn't work
Use your gimbal for 10X pictures, no blur!~
Is it compatible for a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 ?
I'm not exactly sure but try looking on their website for the latest list of compatible phones
Thanks for reply
