Important to know : psychoanalysis is not real therapy, it's pseudo-science. Freud was a smart guy, but this discipline was trash. When looking at it, it's clear that his "theories" say more about his own weird flaws than about human psyche. He was in the team that discovered neurons, doing actual science, but all the psychoanalysis stuff is just things he decided were true without any basis, that's not science and can be very damaging to people who actually need help and therapy.

Freud was not really a psychologist but the father of psychoanalysis. Psychoanalysis is a (fraudulous) pseudo science that tends to be akin to a cult as psychoanalysts tend to create a dependency in their patients. It's also an unwritten rule that you need to have had a psychoanalysis in order to become a psychoanalyst, it's basically Multi-Level Marketing.
In psychology, Freud's legacy is that of a conman who brought up some interesting topics. So the topics are still studied today, but his method is disregarded as a whole.
Also psychoanalysis is a lot about your subconscious, your parents, penises and poo. It's been dismantled countless times.
and so to anyone needing therapy : Please do it, but see a psychologist/psychiatrist, not a psychoanalyst.
Sigmund Freud was the father of psychoanalysis, and most of his theories revolved around sexuality, particularly in familial situations (thus all the mother bars). Imo, Freud won VERY marginally, just because of the ending. Without it, Theresa would have curbstomped.
