Sounds like love to me! @@MichiganRocks
I’m not sure what kind the last mushroom in the video was but I had a bunch of those pop up under my blue spruce trees a few years back. Some were really large and reminded me of sesame seed topped hamburger buns. The pizzza looked great !
Just don't use those for hamburger buns. I suspect that might be your last hamburger. The pizza was great. It's cooked on a wood fire.
Apple crisp, ice cream, and caramel?! whoa! sounds good!
It was great.
I love your new style!!!
I have a new style? No one has ever accused me of having any style, new or old.
@@MichiganRocks 😂 no you have a style... it's unique and has evolved and everyone loves it!!!... but I was talking about finding a really cool rock and forwarding to your shop where you cut it and show the slabs....then go back to the beach!!!
@@TheGreatLakesNomad Oh, I've been doing that since last summer. People really seem to like it.
That petosky did turn out nice.
I cleaned windows in Detroit I found rocks and corals like them on the roofs of a lot of buildings iren or pellets to
A friend of mine has found several puddingstones on roofs.
Nice to see Nancy! HI Nancy!! Have/do you ever skip a wheel while polishing?? Looks like a really fun day.
Nope, I do every wheel no matter what. If I was to skip a wheel, it would probably be the first one.
Great video.
I'm actually in Upper Michigan currently on some business before Detroit show where I'm speaking.
Where in the U.P.? I'm in Marquette.
@@MichiganRocks On the Keweenaw til Tuesday.
Nice day and stones. Caramel was a good choice, if you can get it why not?
That's what I thought. How can you go wrong with more sugar on a desert?
Question if I have small already rounded rocks do I have to go through the whole process in my tumbler thanks
I do. Even if the rock is rounded the rock surface is usually pretty rough. That first stage makes a pretty big difference.
This is my home town, ocqueoc falls is not the only falls in onaway
I have been to the Ocqueoc Underground area, but there aren't really falls there. Are there some other falls similar in size to Ocqueoc? I'd love to go see them if there are.
Always enjoy your videos. We have lots of banded chert where we live in Arkansas. We would be happy to send you some if you'd like. I haven't polished any myself yet but i'm sure you'd do a better job. Let us know. take care
I appreciate the offer Kurt and Julie, but I'm kind of overstocked on rocks right now. I try not to accumulate more than I can do something with. I have not succeeded in that, but it's a goal!
Well if you ever need a supply of chert we have it!
What causes the divots in the Petoskey stones? Thanks!
It's a fossilized coral. Those divots are individual animals.
I'll be going to mackinaw from indiana next week for 2 days, any tips on best rock beach to visit with only a short time?
Mackinaw is not a great place for rock hunting in my opinion. There's a lot of limestone and not much else. I'd consider going to Wilderness State Park. Here's a video so you know what to expect: ua-cam.com/video/Ooob_6huRWE/v-deo.html
@@MichiganRocks thanks! I'm also thinking about making a slight detour to Leland to look for the blue slag.
@@Cardsone1 Leland is a beautiful spot even if you don't find any slag.
I hope you stopped at the 211 bar and had some pizza. My hubbie grew up on black lake.
No, we went to Knaebe's.
Yay another video!!! Nice dad joke also I think Nancy is a bit disappointed or embarrassed or both.
I'm surprised that her eyes haven't rolled right out of her head.
@@MichiganRocks Lol.
That charlevoux (?) is stunning
Charlevoix. Yep, that one was really cool.
@@MichiganRocks Thanks, teach!
You always make me homesick, definitely could use some real apple cider
No cider where you live? At you craving the fresh stuff or hard?
@@MichiganRocks only cider here full of preservatives, ruins the taste
Very cool
Awesome! I want to see Bryan on a video!
I'd love to have Bryan in more videos too. Do you know him?
@@MichiganRocks Yes! Was his roommate at northern
@@gavinwright9849 Oh, ok. I didn't know your last name. I did film him from a distance the other day for a video I'm working on about Rockport. I needed drone shots of someone riding a bike. I put together a few shot for him to see. I guess I can let you see too. ua-cam.com/video/C5mQziQSxho/v-deo.html
My husband and I live in OHIO and want to make a second vacation towards Michigan. We are new to rock hunting. Few questions
1. Are we allowed to take rocks from the beaches?
2. Which beach would you recommend for new hunters
3. Any hotels or places to stay that you would suggest.
Sorry seems like a lot to ask, but we really enjoy your shows and hoping for some guidance..
Thanks in advance
I'd suggest going to Lake Superior for the best rocks. I live here, so I can't really recommend hotels since I just come home or camp in a tent. Send me an email and I'll give you a list of some places that I've been with short descriptions. abramr@mac.com.
You might also consider going to Nether's Farm in your own state for Flint Ridge flint. That stuff is awesome. ua-cam.com/video/tmv9EJg9ziE/v-deo.html
I’ve been down the sink hole steps. Rough coming back up 😅
That’s what it looked like. It didn’t seem like there would be anything to see down there that would make the walk worthwhile.
@@MichiganRocks nothing but weeds taller than me and tons of mosquitoes. I was hoping for some cool rocks since they were so deep but couldn’t even look for any. Very warm down there like a green house. And ocqueoc falls used to be more rustic and natural Till a few years ago. Still a great place. Still like to go even though I’ve practically grew up there. Right in Rodgers city near the calcite plant there’s a children’s park on Huron has fossils and lots of petoskey stones there’s one park bench marks the spot. My favorite place.
@@CynthiaEmbry I've been to all those places, including Ocqueoc Falls before they built all the sidewalks and stuff. It's a beautiful area.
Horn corals, before polishing, must have been the inspiration for the Sorting Hat at Hogwarts in the Harry Potter movies!
I always think they look like Bugles chips.
Pizza looks really good
It was!
Love forests, my city has forest around it
Lots of woods here.
Hi Rob, a question, do u know if Montana Rock Mom is ok ? no video in 2 months ! Thanks @@MichiganRocks
@@Nikkisavage100 I don't really know her. I have watched a couple of her videos, but that's about it. Kate from Katydid Rocks knows her.
ok will ask her, thanks @@MichiganRocks
Looks like a beautiful lake I love it when your lovely wife is in your videos
I do too. She wasn’t in many this summer.
The last shroom was the Fly Agaric. They're is a story that that mushroom is where Santa Claus came from, flying reindeer and elves and magical Santa. They claim the mushroom is poisonous but no ones ever died from it. The Scandinavian people would boil the mushrooms 🍄 then drink the liquid and have physcadelic experience and there's Santa. Lol
Well that's the most interesting comment I've read in awhile. I think I'll pass on the psychedelic experience.
What caused those sinkholes?
😍😍😍
👍👍👍
Hey Rob. I would like to send you a personal message. How is the best way to do this?
Instagram works well. If that doesn't work for you, let me know and I'll give you my email address.
Don't underestimate a raw petoskey
I think I do that quite often. I'll try to do better.
Never pass up caramel!!!!
Words to live by.
