Your piecing tutorial is the best I've watched so far. I'm still not ready to attempt it so I may have to watch you oh...about 100 times. You are fun to watch and I love your camera angle! Thank you!
An extra tip....when you fold the paper back to cut the quarter inch put a postcard between the paper to give a sturdy line for the ruler to sit against.
Thanks for this tutorial! I watched this a couple times, then printed out a design, traced it onto stabilizer paper, and went at it! I loved the result and this was the first time I've had really good results with quilting. Kiddo helped with fabric choice and it was a really nice afternoon for us. Thanks!
This basically changed my foundation paper piecing life. I’ve been doing it for a little over a year, been struggling all along - sew, rip, sew, rip, sew - and the trimming the next seam tip really helped a ton. Thank you!
I watched soooo many other videos and none made sense. As soon as I saw that you had one, I knew I would understand it. I follow you on tiktok and you understand how to explain things to people. Thank you!
I’ve done foundation paper piecing a few times but I’m really going ham with a crazy wall hanging and quilt for Christmas presents. Say a little prayer for me - love the tutorial!!
Love the idea of doing the center stitch to check before stitching the whole thing. I've could have saved so much time on my lady project. Sadly I had to use the seam ripper a lot
I love the idea of sewing a "basting" stitch in the center to check if it lines up!!! Also this keeps it in place while you're sewing the whole thing without having to use bulky pins!! This is a fabulous tutorial!! I've watched several and none of them have made sense really until yours!! Definitely am going to try FPP now because you made it look so easy!! Thank you "sew" much!!! P.S. Sorry for all the exclamation points! I'm just so excited to finally see a video that makes FPP look easy!!!😁😁😁💜💙💚💛🧡❤💙💙💙💙
I just visited the copy store and made copies of a pattern for sail boats, I made way to many copies in case I really mess up, but this tutorial has reduced my fear of FPP. THANK YOU SO MUCH,
Thank you for this easy to understand explanation on paper piecing. I can't wait to try this on my Arboretum Quilt I plan on making. Appreciate your video tutorial.
Thank you Mr D! I have now got foundation paper and printed this off perfectly...and am going to try and get my head around it by doing your sample. And...you are so hilarious!
Awesome video! And what a fun host. I'm super jealous of your machine, but one day I'll get there. Recently upgraded from a 1975 kenmore to a janome s5. Different worlds! Keep up the awesome work and great videos!
I just found your site last night, and just love your instruction. I have spent the entire day searching for the pattern for the top half of the heart. Is there anybody out there than can help me, PLEASE!!!!!
I'm not sure if my earlier comment uploaded or not - if so, sorry for the duplicate. I just found you today with this tutorial - perfect for Valentine's Day! I'm a new quilter, so I'm learning a lot, but this turned out great - thanks for the tutorial!
Wonderful and very enlightening tutorial. I learned 2 new things here. If you left the paper would it pulp or fall apart over time... Even if air dried after washing?
This was a very cool tutorial. I just started tp learn so this was very helpful. Unfortunately I cannot seem to get any of the pattern links to work. How do I get the pattern? thanks
Great tutorial. I wish the link to the heart pattern still worked. I went to the Mr. Domestic website and the Amazon shop, I can't find it. If anyone has a working link, please let me know! Thank you!
Love Love Love! Been wanting to try. But it's like my brain says Tonya Girl stick with what you know you will mangle this. Sorry yes I talk to myself LOL.....
TFS!! I actually found your tut so easy to learn. Thank you. Your awesome!!!!! It is beautiful and colorful. I don’t have a favorite color. I love love all the colors. What’s the seam roller called or where can I buy. I have the mini clover iron but it doesn’t do a great job. That roller looks like it just fattens that seam. It probably helps when you flatter, starch, best press your fabric pieces prior to sewing block.
Love this tutorial! But, I have questions about the foundation paper. What paper do you use? Do you put the paper through your printer? I have never done FPP before. TIA
love paper piecing you are so funny you make me smile thank you for the video and your time cute heart would be pretty all different color pinks I like pink lol
What sort of paper does one use? Something light? Parchment 📜? Or is there a specific type one should get? Like not using printer paper? Or any paper ? 💙🏳️🌈🐻
ONLY bottom half of pattern is provided in the link below. I think it’s important that you mention this. I printed off 4 copies thinking I’d try this and then realized to get top half of heart pattern I have to purchase the entire pillow pattern. If I hadn’t felt tricked I probably would’ve purchased it.
Tutorial is great, but there was no mention that the first fabric should face away from you and the remaining fabrics will all face you. I realize that for this square since the colors are all solids with no print that this won't matter.
I liked the tutorial! I don’t have a light box, though, and your table shakes so much.. hurts my head! Love the neon pink, though - it helps me see your project easier. Thanks for sharing!
The pattern is in the video link below the video. Just click on the arrow down next to the title of the video and scroll down until you see it. Hope this helps!!
Easiest tutorial using foundation paper that I have ever seen. Lovely!

Since I don’t have a light box, I open my iPad browser to a blank white screen. Works pretty well.
Great idea! I’m doing it!
I have been spinning my seams since I watched your video, but the rope about just doing the centre with the longer stitch length is BRILLIANT!!
Thanks for this tutorial! I watched this a couple times, then printed out a design, traced it onto stabilizer paper, and went at it! I have watch other paper piecing youtube videos and you are the easiest to understand and actually see what you are doing at the machine.
Love the idea of doing the center stitch to check before stitching the whole thing. I've could have saved so much time on my lady project. Sadly I had to use the seam ripper a lot

Wonderful and very enlightening tutorial. I learned 2 new things here.
If you left the paper would it pulp or fall apart over time... Even if air dried after washing?
You really make this so easy to understand. My brain does not want realize I am essentially sewing backwards.

Thank you sew much! I've been wanting to get into FPP. ❤️
Could you tell me the fabric you used here please! And I know a lot of work but also tell me the color names of the solids. I love your heart

I love this! Can't wait to give it a shot. Thank you :)
Matthew, it isn't 100% clear when you trim with the quarter ruler. Is it before or after the subsequent piece is shown?
TFS!! I actually found your tut so easy to learn. Thank you. Your awesome!!!!! It is beautiful and colorful. I don’t have a favorite color. I love love all the colors. My "lightbox" is an x-ray reader that was being discarded at my doctor's office. I have yet to figure this PP out, but I'm trying
