These were amazing highlights. We take these ballgirls for granted, but they really have prevented many people from getting injured. Good job ballgirls!

They prevent a fence from being constructed around the perimeter... and provide entertainment if not the thrill of nearly having your head taken off, but saved by a cute ball girl.
I love when the announcers know and can announce the ball girl's names. That's good broadcasting and taking the extra step.

Wall girl mapped the balls projectory with her mind. Focused fully on climbing the wall. Then spun 180 degree's in mid air to catch the ball at the end of its projected path. That was beyond outstanding. It borders on the spooky.

These young ladies are the unsung heroines of foul territory. Especially at Fenway where the stands come so close to the foul line. They have saved many a fan from having their heads taken off from not paying attention. Great job ladies! BTW, The young lady that climbed the wall for the catch has to be one of the greatest plays on a ball in the outfield that I have ever seen!

I thought the same thing until i realized they only knew the names when it was on their jersey. One of them got it wrong because her hair was blocking the full name and then corrected himself when you could see it.

I remember when Charlie O'Finley of the Oakland A's created the Ball Girl back in the 70's. This was his idea.
He had some really creative ideas to make baseball more fun.

I'm not a fan of baseball, but I like this tradition with the batboys and the ballgirls. This is very nice.
Some of these plays are pretty impressive. The short hops and the ricochet off the walls.....pretty phenomenal glove work from these young ladies.
I’m guessing a lot of these girls play middle infield in fast pitch. Great reactions off those hops!

Noticed the ball girls were giving the baseballs they caught to the kids! Great idea as this will have a great impact and make memories of a lifetime for the kids.
I saw that too! I also saw a lot of grown men acting like children, wanting the ball that the ball girl caught. Some of these grown men even brought baseball gloves to the game like children. I think there should be a rule that if an adult gets a ball that they have to give it to a kid seated nearby. I know I would!

Softball has gotten pretty intense. Much more intensity than baseball. Heck, I am starting to think they separate the girls and give them a bigger ball that is harder to catch and drive to limit them.....and I used to play baseball.

I know that the Nationals use mostly college softball players as their ballgirls. I learned that fact when my TA (I am an adjunct professor at a university here in DC), who was on the university's softball team, discussed having several of her teammates as ballgirls. It makes sense as they are skilled with the glove, they understand the rules and it is a nice part-time job for these students.

They didn't have a winning record during their existence, but did manage a winning season in their final year, 1997 (23 wins, 22 losses).

@Kw #1 Is this true? If so, then i guess the question would be… Are there many young Afro-American girls desire to be ball girls? What is the process in becoming a ball girl? I have been quick to point out acts of discrimination in the past from a place of toxic identification. If there is a system in place that excludes Afro-American or any girl who is non-Caucasian from the same opportunity… Will you look into it and do something to change it and bring more awareness in how to shift consciousness towards equal treatment of young girls regardless of superficial differences that we have no control over? I ask myself a lot of questions and I always get directed back to Oneness.
@Kw #1 There is racism, prejudices and attribution bias found within every institution since the beginning of time to benefit a niche group of people. With that same level of awareness of identifying skin color with a personality, Would an Afro-American girl want to be a ball girl in environments that she would feel “different” because the majority of fans do not look like her (Unless you’re from New York). When I was more sensitive to personal racial trauma experienced living in America, the last thing that would make me feel safe would be drunk, obnoxious people who may see me as different or practice much emotional presence(especially men) . If I was an Afro-American girl, I wouldn’t feel safe to work in a culture like that either…
@Kw #1 Fair statement. But it’s important to move towards the solution and not focus on the problem of the historically intolerant institution that is the League. What are we going to do about it? What is the plan? How do we find the statistics of how many softball playing Afro-American girls that apply? How many are denied? Why were they denied? The rate of pay is $9-$15/hour and there is an application process as opposed to a recruiting process. So how can we find out and help shift this school of thought into a different direction. Let me know and I got your back!
@Kw #1 That’s a thought. A filter in how we see the world. That type of thought used to limit me and not allow me to trust myself if I can be honest. Are there prejudiced people out there? Absolutely! But until we are actually able to confront and address these issues directly, it is just an assumption. Patrick Mahomes and Giannas Antetokounmpo are both people of color who own stakes in predominantly Caucasian-owned franchises. Are they considered the exception? Maybe 🤔, but they have opened doors that were once sitting in a sky castle guarded by grand dragons, if you catch my drift. I’m not saying you’re wrong for what you believe, but I do say that thoughts without foundation are the seeds of fear. We may not be able to fix it immediately in this existence, but there will be a day that these superficial limitations we set on each other will be lifted and if I cannot see that day, at least I can be a part of the process to get there. Nyiameen?!?!
