    Thanks for the video guys! Just went past the Cummin's location just outside of Kamloops, so I know the area, as we stayed overnight fairly close to them! I've been doing my own oil & filter changes, as well as both fuel filters, not hard, and I have a location close by who will take the used oil too. A little time consuming, but a saving, nonetheless. Like you, I'll leave the big jobs to the experts! We recently had a check engine light, which showed that our DPF was getting hot...not overheat, but the light was in yellow. Soon after that, after we had crested the long Coquihalla hill, I got a 'Stop Motor' signal on the dash, so I found a place to pull over, shut the engine off, and looked around the coach. All seemed to look fine, and it started, and ran perfectly all the way home. I took the motorhome into our local 'Port Kells' Cummins dealer, who sent out a Tech to plug into the coaches computer, and found that 'with' the hot DPF, that it went into Regen at the same time, which was what gave the 'Stop Motor' signal. He said all is good, and after talking with other specialists, they mentioned all was fine, and to continue using the coach, and that it was a 'courtesy' for them to check it...so I was especially happy to hear that there was no cost to the check! I'll continue using Cummin's, and as mentioned they're local, and that all makes it helpful. Appreciate your valued opinions on so many of the video's you produce, and thankful for your tips on many things related to our coaches!

      Dale Watkins Hi Dale! That’s a happy ending story for sure after the potential for something much worse. We’re so happy to hear that your experience with Cummins has mirrored our own. It can be so hard to find reliable shops when you’re on the road, so having a trusted place to go is the best. Safe travels, and thanks for the awesome comment.

    Had our 03 Kountry Star DP, 5.9 300 ISB, serviced at a Cummins dealer last month. Submitted the discount code when I called for appt as well as day of service. It ended up costing me approx $200 more than the discounted price, even though the service rep said ISBs are usually cheaper to service. The service was great and the technicians did a great job, but the $1250 price is a starting point. Disappointed that "ISBs" are treated differently than the larger ISL engines.

      Hi again, Jim. We've heard back from Cummins already! Although the promotion was for a discount on ISL oil changes (apparently such a good discount that it made it less expensive than an ISB!), they felt that it was not clear in the text that it was for ISL ONLY. So we're changing the text on the special to be more clear that it's ISL only, but Cummins also said they will be issuing a $200 credit to you anyway. Please let us know as soon as you hear back from them so we'll know you've received your credit. Cummins really is a great company, and it's good to hear that that they're not only crediting you, but that you felt they did a great job.

    • @RVgeeks

      All diesel pusher motorhomes have air systems (air suspension, etc) which require a desiccant cartridge (that’s the air dryer) which removes moisture from the system. They typically get changed once each year.

    Is it just me or does the $1250 for the "Premium Road Ready Pkg" on the Cummins NOW site seem way overpriced? This is after the 25% RVGEEKS discount too. You get the 21 pt inspection, which is $329 if you buy separately, so that leaves $921 for the oil change on the ISL & genny, "filters and fluids included". The last two times I've taken in our Phaeton to Freightliner service centers, it was $400-450 for the chassis lube with oil change with filters and both times that included both fuel filter & separator. The generator is usually around $100-110 for an oil change. (I just looked at my receipts). So where is that extra $400 going?

    • @RVgeeks
      @RVgeeks  4 роки тому

      Hi Ron. First, sorry to hear you're having trouble. We haven't encountered this problem ourselves, but we've read before that when you get that flashing of lights on the control panel, it's likely because of a communication glitch between the control panel and the inverter/charger. The recommended solution is to unplug the control panel for a few minutes, then plug it back in. You can do that in two places: either right at the control panel by unscrewing it and removing it from the wall... or at the inverter/charger itself (if you can easily access it). It looks like a typical modular phone plug... and you can just squeeze the little tab to get it to release and pull it out. Again, from either end... whichever is easier for you.
      Let us know if that works!
