A campaign where you start off learning the tools in a small space, repairing incoming ships before moving up to designing your own, then moving you into the wider world to build up infrastructure for some grand colonization plan would be quite the nice, chill way to onboard new players.

God, I remember watching your videos on this game back in 2013 and was how I originally started watching your channel so this takes me back quite a bit.
1: max fly speed set to 3 times the speed of SE1 on planets and 6 times in SE1 in space, by default. 2: Planets are incredibly booring and need more things to do, The dream would be Reforged Eden 2 + Space Engineers but I doubt it. 3: True multicore, you should be able to assign 1 or more cores to each planet, and divide up the galaxy as you want to so you can focus number of cores where it's most needed. 4: Allow the server to use one or more graphics card to offload some of the physics calculations. basically the simulation lagg needs to fuck off. 5: Terrain restoration gun so we can make awesome underground hangars and bases. Thank you for voicing your concerns. I was thinking the same things. But I have faith. Faith of the heart, if you will. All I want from SE2 is a more robust AI and mission system so that, as you said, we can have a good solid goal to engineer our creations around.
What I want to see is another group survival series when this comes out, especially since this is supposed to be more multiplayer oriented!!!! I grew up on GS when I was little
While I am excited for the prospect of smoother gameplay. I am concerned. SE1 was NOT a smooth launch by any means, but the game came a really long way with an immense amount of improvements. That being said, almost nothing was done to present any lore, story, or progression as you mentioned. This is the sole reason I dont play anymore. I find myself asking the question, what am I accomplishing here. A calorie/farming addition would add a fresh layer of survival. But the game needs something big. Like territorial AI that is actually manufacturing drones to build factories and mining facilities. Using those random transports we see to actually deliver cargo that will then be used to expand said territory. Perhaps another AI building up its own expanse to counter the ladder. This could open up a market and reputation system to both to which you could buy/sell with and perhaps do missions or just meet trade requirements. This game is perfect as is for online communities, but the problem is people dont play how you intend these days. So much trolling. Good news, is that I don't think it's going to be completely barebones as SE1 is. We know they already have work on planets as a large portion of their Vrage3 teasers have been planet related, meaning they almost certainly will have them. Also they have weapons already in the teasers, and they seem to feature a lot of engineers so I would imagine MP will be a part of it.
Yes, I think they must have a working game of some sort behind it, even if an older version of SE. Would have been crazy to spend all this time on the engine and not try and use your existing SE1 systems in it.
@@sam23696 I mean it's entirely possible that that will be in the game. We have 2 short teasers that cover a grand total of 1 feature of the game so far. The features I pointed out were actual engine/system features that are a bit more obvious. Gameplay features aren't really going to be shown until we get actual gameplay, but they aren't something you are necessarily gonna see signs of in engine testing.
If Space Engineers 2 is as good, if not better, than what everyone is saying, then I hope you guys are already thinking about doing more SE multiplayer roleplay series like the ones you guys did many years ago.
Hopefully they add more things to do. I suppose I am most exicted for the VRAGE 3 water system ... That nobody is talking about ... That is still a thing, right??

Here's to hoping you do another survival series when SE2 comes out!!!!! I loved both of the series you did (With Valfor, and then again with Wa4sted and Morph).
you should do one last big series with as many people as you can get and go full star wars rp as a rebel fleet were you have to build up strength and destroy some imperial thing or base.
I just really hope they include all of the SE blocks that have been added to the game over the last 10 years. It would suck to have to wait for those all over again in the new game.

Sure, the developer might be against it, but come on. You aren't gonna tell me that in ten thousand years that NO ONE has developed shield tech
I'm really hoping Keen's taken on board the lessons learned from SE1 so that SE2 can benefit from them. I have high hopes with what I've heard and seen so far but I also remember Keen's track record for presentations, especially regarding SMP

Shack, your Sunday streams got me through some tough days. I could just tune out and work on my homework while you guys played for 4 hours. Really hoping you bring that back.
These are me exact concerns. They really need to improve physics, hinges and better encounters, AI that makes the world feel more alive, or just better. They should implement more mods that make the game better or more realistic. Without mods current SE would be nothing. Mods add so much to it that's insane. Hopefully they wont fuck this up.
A couple things! They are showing they already have multiplayer set up. It seems we are still going to have static voxels. Clearly they have strongly reworked the way blocks interact and their hitboxes, you can see on the landing platforms of the stations that blocks that could never be put togther before can now be placed very close. I think so far they are showing that this engine is going to be able to handle a lot more ship creativity, and it appears to be fairly stable. The fact that ships dont just deform and then turn into particles is great too. As far as new mechanics I am sure we will get the AI and NPC's from SE1 since they probably developed it for SE2 first then ported it back (if they were smart). Ill be excited to see what else they add going forward, but it might simply be the same game with stronger mod support and a better engine.
Man what a time trip. This was the last sandbox game I really dumped time into before getting married and having kids and a job lol. Still remember coming to this channel for how obtuse all the menus and in game systems were 11 years ago.
If it's SE1 but more stable, and with more flexible building, that would be a good foundation. Fancy features and gameplay can come later, but if the physics and memory allocation are broken, they get baked into the game in a way that's hard to fix.
So will the Skyforge finally get out of that hanger 🤔😁🤣 But seriously I would love to see a Group Survival event for SE2. I’m not expecting a whole new series but a one of mini series our a few events would be awesome
The game and it's mods has progress a ton over the years... Not sure we would ever get a sequel instead of just a large update. I just hope it's not a KSP2 situation
Keen is its own independent studio which should help, and SE is the gem of such studio. There's not an overarching study that is going to just gut Keen and leave it to die
KSP2 was done by a whole different one than who created KSP1 and Said company already had a shady history that doomed it. SE2 is Made by the Same Company and programmers as SE1(KSH) and the company doesn't have a shady history so far. So I think it is unfair to make the comparison.

a quest and research system. so the stations they introduced give you missions for money as we all know, but start off with the very basic tools and blocks and have to buy the rest and better versions. basic building block has reduced hp maybe, standard is standard obviously and advanced has more hp. Thanks for the reminder of how plain the original release was. I remember weekly teasers when they started hyping the 1.0 release of the detailed blocks we have now. I also remember the argu....um, difference of opinions with the devs regarding dirt and scratches on glass. Small potatoes compared to what is coming.
I bought Space Engineers on 22 Dec 2013, really hoping that they go Early Access with something next week. Considering all the Vrage3 demos we've had over the last year it would be pretty stupid not to release SE2 in exactly the same form as SE was back at release. They must have a working game engine now even if it is unpolished and not playing well with MODs. I will be very pleased if they release into Early Access with SE2 about as feature rich as a year or so back, sort of prior to the Warfare stuff which to me always felt tacked on rather than built in. I would like a more simple user friendly non-programmer means of programming actions in SE2. But whatever happens, unless they announce something real bad, I will probably pick up the game as soon as it's available. PS - I was there for 'one more piston' and the time we were gluing together as many of the old landers in one super lander before they changed the launch ships, and who can forget Potatoes, fun times.
Definitely gonna get the game as soon as it releases in Early Alpha, But probably not gonna make the full switch until Star Trek Mods are up and running. And until either it's confirmed there's no way to at least partially import vanilla grids or that feature comes into the game.
All of this tech, the multi-grid block system, the damage system, etc, all existed in Medieval Engineers, the game that KSH killed off right when it was starting to gain serious ground and really starting to get good. A game that I really loved, and a game that had so much potential and an amazing team that was doing amazing things. Killed off, out of the blue, for seemingly no reason, and left in a half finished, stated. Abandoned. Just like they did with their other game Miner Wars. The game that proceeded SE. So, as good as this new "SE2" may seem, remember what they did to their other games. Like Miner Wars, ME, etc. I have no faith in KSH. Remember what they did.
Yes the "something to do" with the stuff you build is always by issue with these sandbox games. Give me an Economy, Factions, and Diplomacy or something to do with the cool stuff you build.
Shack and SE, well this is a kick in the nostalgia! Pretty sure you got me into this game! Ready for the new school of flight! (Still my greatest meme)
I just assumed that se2 would be Se1 plus the shiny new multi-grid size build thing. That Keen would bundle their experience and all of their developer prowess into the ultimate SE game and beyond! Or I have my expectations set too high. Still, with Star Citizen 4.0 and Pyro finally being released, 1.0 on the way, and some Mass Effect-like Space RPG under development, it is a great time to be a space game enjoyer!
All the physics and lighting is great. But what about gameplay? That's the only thing the game needs. Something to actually _DO_ with the stuff you build.
I have a pessimistic outlook on this (given the state of gaming lately): They are going to announce on 19DEC but we won't see the game until 3rd quarter of next year at the earliest.
i am looking forward to it..i loved watching others play and seeing their creations.. but i also have my doubts.. having no npcs is crazy.. the world is empty without them.. having no pilots or crew on a ship thats attacking you is wild.. i had to role play that AI took over the ships but that got stale.. plus the grind of survival was sooooooo slow. servers were laggy and voxels were floating and not air tight.. so many small complaints that made me quit after some time. having to pay for blocks in dlc's that shouldve been in game long before they were implemented was basically the last straw for me..
Awe.. memory lane there a bit.. here is hoping to several more thousands of hours in the fun of engineering my way out of just one more piston scenarios and taking on Clang!
its just me or i tend to believe that SE should stay not to none to avoid SE blowing up on the internet and dowing a minecraft getting bought by Microsoft becose we no Microsoft has ruined a lot of video games that 1 of the things i'm scared of
building something would be great, ran so many times into the physics shape limit, wish that that is a thing of the past, then i can deal with creative mod for years.
I'm cautiously optimistic. The improved building looks nice, all around. But if they don't have actual gameplay, survival elements and mechanical loops outside of "Harvest ore, shove in refiner, build parts, weld 4 days", then it's probably going to be a pass for me. Games have come a long way since 2013, just having a good building system isn't enough anymore. I want reason to use my ship, to consume resources, something to pursue and chase beyond keeping the lights on. Slapping in oxygen and calling it a day won't cut it.
I'm afraid of SE2 suffering from Paradox curse, being a new and shiny game but lacking many features of its predecessor. For example, over the last few years, Keen was adding automation features, so I am expecting them to see in SE2, instead of being forced to wait a few years once again. Apart from that, SE2 is going to have planets, as they have shown the logo Fulgora system. The thing is, why didn't they show it in the trailer?
The planets are probably Not in the state to Show them of in real gameplay. And we will have to wait for a little of stuff, because it will Release into early Access.
Thexpgamers plus Space engineers= instant watch

Does this mean you're coming back to space Engineers?Cause I miss that
A teaser for a teaser for a teaser. It's teaser-ception!
Yo I heard you like teasers, so I teased a teaser for the teaser we teased.
Yes the "something to do" with the stuff you build is always by issue with these sandbox games. Give me an Economy, Factions, and Diplomacy or something to do with the cool stuff you build.
Can only dream of a game with a combo of the crafting/building from SE survival and the living galaxy of Empyrion Galactic Survival.
yes please port some of those old mods:
docking ports
ore scanning was a nice one
Hopefully clang will be less of a headache
I'm surprised you didn't mention the new weapons. Those weren't gatling cannons that were wrecking everything in the trailer. Those were lasers!
Shack and SE, well this is a kick in the nostalgia! Pretty sure you got me into this game! Ready for the new school of flight! (Still my greatest meme)
to be honest I thought at the time this was going to be a tune up for space engineers 1 and I also enjoy watching group survival series.
I just started SE1 wht essential mods should I be using .
I have many concerns about SE2 but for now i will just be happy.
Ah yes, the Before Times. Oh, how I never really knew you...
Actually, that is true, I jumped in on this wild ride around 2015-ish. Good times indeed!
Now, this may be a hot take, here, but "things to do in SE 1: " The purpose of Clang wrecking everything. Now wipe those tears and Game On.
All the physics and lighting is great. But what about gameplay? That's the only thing the game needs. Something to actually _DO_ with the stuff you build.
The nostalgia
I wish you could get to the level of detail as is in Dual Universe. But will see what this has to offer.
The first one doesnt even feel done the second one seems like a cop out to sell the game twice.
I hope 2 gets a weaponcore modest
I have a pessimistic outlook on this (given the state of gaming lately): They are going to announce on 19DEC but we won't see the game until 3rd quarter of next year at the earliest.
looking forward to another 10 years plus XD
i am looking forward to it..i loved watching others play and seeing their creations.. but i also have my doubts.. having no npcs is crazy.. the world is empty without them.. having no pilots or crew on a ship thats attacking you is wild.. i had to role play that AI took over the ships but that got stale.. plus the grind of survival was sooooooo slow. servers were laggy and voxels were floating and not air tight.. so many small complaints that made me quit after some time. having to pay for blocks in dlc's that shouldve been in game long before they were implemented was basically the last straw for me..
Awe.. memory lane there a bit.. here is hoping to several more thousands of hours in the fun of engineering my way out of just one more piston scenarios and taking on Clang!
wow in the early versions you could have the helmet off !!
Hopefully they've learned from the KSP 2 debacle
its just me or i tend to believe that SE should stay not to none to avoid SE blowing up on the internet and dowing a minecraft getting bought by Microsoft becose we no Microsoft has ruined a lot of video games that 1 of the things i'm scared of
They NEED to make this more multiplayer firendly. How many servers are abandoned after few weeks because of griefers and performance issues?
SE isn't a game. It is a lifestyle.
building something would be great, ran so many times into the physics shape limit, wish that that is a thing of the past, then i can deal with creative mod for years.
A Wing Raid Episode 2????
I like honey glazed ham
I don't see why Keen would release SE2 in alpha, given there's already SE1 to keep us entertained until it's sequel gets to a playable state.
Truly glorious news
Hopefully SE2 is capable to run better without my PC start fuming
Starship Evo is multi size box
I'm afraid of SE2 suffering from Paradox curse, being a new and shiny game but lacking many features of its predecessor. For example, over the last few years, Keen was adding automation features, so I am expecting them to see in SE2, instead of being forced to wait a few years once again.
Apart from that, SE2 is going to have planets, as they have shown the logo Fulgora system. The thing is, why didn't they show it in the trailer?
The planets are probably Not in the state to Show them of in real gameplay. And we will have to wait for a little of stuff, because it will Release into early Access.
is just me that want anther series of warforge? hoping it "comback"? hehe
It's not "multi grid sizes", it is "unified grid system". Use the correct term.
Sure
