My favourite WT song, it has the most epic ending to a song ever. they are amazing live.
I've seen them live many times, most recently at the end of last year, and they are hands down one of the best bands to see live. Remember as well, this was in 2008, they were incredible then but think how far they've come since then. If you ever get the chance to see them live, don't miss it!

Sharon's energy on stage is always amazing this performance even more so as she was very sick during this concert but refused to cancel the show
this is the best symphonic metal song ever - the album version is unbelievable, the most incredible lyrics and melody - Sharon;s voice is perfect
For all the songs performed at Black Symphony; those had become the new best versions. No album version beats the Black Symphony live performance.

The video i bought of “Black Symphony “ in 2008 made me a big fan of Within Temptation. Did know them already from the radio. A documentary on tv from this concert with an interview of the band got me totally into Within Temptation. Went to their theater show in 2010 and another 5 concerts since then. WT was the first band i ever saw live. Did watch the DVD at least 20 times. Finally got my hand on the Blu-ray last year. The last show was end last year in their collaboration concert with Evanescence. Amazing show. They sadly did only one song together. One of my favorite bands. Thanks for this reaction.

The song is actually based on The DaVinci Code.
Sharon has said in interviews that she's not religious, she said she's more spiritual, either way the song is not based on anything from her personal experience. Her songs on her My Indigo solo album are very personal to her but Within Temptation songs generally aren't, there are some exceptions though such as Say My Name, Forgiven and Supernova.
Sharon was very very sick during this. Only if you're listening for it, you can hear a smidge of congestion in her voice.
The whole concert with the Black Symphony was almost cancelled until she got her voice back.
I actually heard this was inspired by The DaVinci Code.

Hi Alanna and Kyle, thank you very much for your reaction to our request. Our metalhead family loves your reactions and we'll keep on supporting you. This song has such a beautiful deep meaning and the layering in this performance is actually outrageous. Sharon of course is an angel that is singing like an angel, we love her so much. The coherence between the orchestra, choir and band is very consisting too. We'll be back with this band in the future, with their newer stuff.🤘
Hey guys. This song is one that, first, I'm glad you've reacted to. Second, this song is, for me, about redemption. Too many times, we do things for what we think are right and justified reasons, only to find out that we've been played for a fool. Or, that we've done the wrong thing for the right reasons. And when that happens, the guilt, or even anger and rage, can drive us to do things that are considered the "dark side" of ourselves.
A common allegory is that each of us has two wolves inside, two beasts, two animals. One is representative of everything that is good about us; the other contains all of the evil we are capable of. Any animal that thrives has enough food to survive on. As here, each side of us thrives when we feed it with our actions and emotions. The question becomes, what kind of person are you? Which wolf, animal, beast do you feed?
And when you know yourself well enough to know what you're capable of, both good and evil, then you know which animal to chain, bind, and cage so that it doesn't control you.
And when you discover that what you've done horrifies you, then first, you must forgive yourself, before seeking the forgiveness of others, and changing your actions to not just redeem yourself in the eyes of others, but to redeem yourself within your own mind and soul. Because you know yourself better than anyone, and your mind, if it is like mine, remembers everything, and keeps a running balance of good acts and bad acts. Good things, and bad things. It is the idea that unless a situation or context shows itself to justify letting the dark side out, that dark side within each of us should be the side of us we starve.
Her outfits are fire because she designs them herself.
