just in the first few minutes, I can say this video is solid AF, my transit is metal on metal just like Hector said he sees a lot of, also, the axle seal, I have seen others go in for rear work only to come back with that seal leaking. Homie Hector is legit and is a very talented Mechanic with a bright future. Even though A pro is doing mine for me, its nice to see what is involved. Thanks so much for sharing

Thank you. The problem with these brakes on these vans, there’s no indication noise or something that the brakes need to be changed. Need to check it often before it goes metal to metal.

Yep why on earth didn't ford put a dam low pad indicator on these things I think they want you to wear the pads down and damage the rotors so they can make more money for parts and labor. The son of a bitches.

Quick tip, heat the copper washers up with a small butane torch and it will soften them so they can be crushed again.

You are the man I was lost trying to do my transit, as I'm not a mechanic and was stuck with changing my 19 rears when my rt rear caliper seized up.

Great video.. all of the important stuff without the BS, and kind of funny too! Yeah, these Transits have a ton of brake bias towards the rear (for carrying heavy loads) so that’s why the wear so damn fast. Sucks! Mine were ALMOST on metal after just 30k miles and I don’t carry much weight at all! Thanks again for the great video!

    Question....
But first Thank you for the video,
My rear passenger caliper was seized 3 months ago ,
My mechanic replace caliper with new one , after 2 months it start to leak brake fluid,
I brought in he said bad caliper and replace it again,
Now 2 months later is leak again.
Its always leak from the 30 star screw that old the silver plate .
Could be he doing anything wrong?
When you connect the screw that the fluid run through its supposed to be in specific position?
    Thanks a lot .

Great video, thanks! Quick question if you can answer: I am in the process of replacing the brakes and when trying to get the caliper to rewind, it won't. I bent the tool trying. It was not seized or having problems before. My handbrake is off, my reservoir is open. It will not budge. What do I do now?

K tal hektor tú crees ke los calipers de las transit están mal calibradas ? My F250 transit tiene apenas 25 mil millas y ya se jodieron los pads y el disco. Esto es en la parte de atrás.

I think they always go metal 2 metal cuz the drivers don’t care . It ain’t their van..and they usually have loads in them...but yea good vid bro!..

bird 2can I’m on metal too and and it’s my personal van. Ford doesn’t use sensors or squeakers. The brakes suck on these vans.

THERE IS NO WARNING Indicator on the brake pads, like a lot of other manufacturers have on there brake pads

  • @alexanderthegrape5370

We all hate drums but for these vans it'll make more sense. Ford positions the caliper low to avoid vehicle pitching when braking but all it does is wear the pads out quickly and ruin the calipers... Ford 😒

Pinching of brake hose can cause it to collapse 😂

  • @danakibby627
    @danakibby627 Рік тому

Firestone techs! Never take their mechanical advice! He said he will pinch off brake hose so it doesn’t leak 👎🏻That can also cause the hose to collapse permanently inside 😂! He said he will gravity bleed Brakes! That should only be done from driver front after bleeding new caliper and if you have enough time to let system bleed out

Alway replace the bolts. No visual inspection can detect stretching. Not worth it.
    There’s a torque requirement!!

Another piece of bad advice! I am suppose to replace these bolts that hold rotor to the axle, but they don’t look stretch so I ignore the manufacturers advice and use them!👎🏻
